    Pro tip: the sensor might be stuck, crawl underneath your car, find where the sensor is plugged in, smack it a bunch of times. It fixed mine. Cheers!

    I had same issue after I let reservoir go empty. The sensor may have been clogged from using Rain-X washer fluid also. But I solved it by pouring a kettle full of hot water, not boiling, into reservoir half full of washer fluid. Waited a few minutes and then ran the washer front and back. Solved!

    • @Kaz8693
      @Kaz8693 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't understand, you let it go empty first then filled it halfway with washer fluid? Then added hot water?

    • @cementheed
      @cementheed 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Kaz8693 Yes, when it ran empty it got stuck; fill it half-way with new fluid, then add hot water - it should free up the stuck float.

    I used 1/2 inch plastic transparent pipe for aquarium, insert the pipe into the half full reservoir and blow couple of time. A problem resolved. I found that trick in one of the youtube,

    Another nail in the coffin of my 2018 Subaru. I was already unhappy that the clock does not automatically change time between standard and daylight saving. Dumping this beast and going back to a Toyota ASAP.

    My 2017 Forester Premium just started having that problem. I just topped it off and if that doesn't work I'm disconnecting the sensor. Never had that function with any of my other cars. Won't be a loss.

      I’m a 2014 Outback owner too, and this started happening a couple months ago. The wiper reservoir is full, but the light on the dash won’t turn off

    • @Nepomenik

      The same with me, Outback 2014. Light is on and the local Subaru dealership asked 350 bucks to change the reservoir. :(

  • @mapmgr
    @mapmgr ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you. Light on with a 2013 Legacy. Poured a gallon of wiper fluid in; didn’t hear any leaks below. Figured the light would go out on its own eventually like the TPMS. Thought I had a cracked container.

  • @petset77
    @petset77 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    There's a youtube video showing how to unplug the sensor. No, the light won't come on if you actually run out of fluid, but the irritating, constant dash light won't be an issue. This channel is full of useful information, and I'm subscribed. But something like a dash light for washer fluid is best "fixed" by removing the alert. Just check your fluid and keep the reservoir topped off, or check the regularly broken "Y" connector for the fluid hose to the spray nozzles if you're not getting spray.

    • @elietan8254
      @elietan8254 ปีที่แล้ว

      May i have the video where the connector is??

    • @petset77
      @petset77 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elietan8254, I'll look for it, but it's been a year or so since I watched it (when my wife's car had sprayer issues). It's under the plastic trim piece just below the windshield. You have to remove the two smaller end pieces to get the large center one off. Following the fluid hose will lead you right to it. ....if I find the video, I'll share the link.

  • @tousshong9438
    @tousshong9438 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Man thank you for the information but that water inside your reservoir is really dirty. I can see stuff floating around. But anyway, I have the same problem and it's winter here in Minnesota and I do not want to fix or removed the bottle to replace the sensor. Subaru should fix this problem for use with the technical bulletin since they know it's a design defects. No way this should go out like this, period!!

    • @petset77
      @petset77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. My wife has a '13 Crosstrek. The reservoir has turned loose from the filler neck and is floating around down in the recesses. It's still winter up here in the mountains in Colorado, so I haven't taken it apart yet. I can't imagine this car is the only one with the problem since everything is plastic. Overall it's a good car, but the valve spring recall came after one broke on hers, and it has the typical "over 100k miles" mysterious oil usage- it doesn't smoke to suggest it's burning oil and it doesn't drip. I regularly check and top off the oil, since the flat four can't ever run low without serious damage. The most concerning problem is that the horn doesn't honk (unless the panic alarm gets accidentally pressed on the key). We've had a couple of near misses in parking lots because the horn is mute at the steering wheel. Good luck with yours. ...My wife still loves the car.

    Just unplug the sensor or forget it is on.. check your fluid every time you check you oil.. duh.. so simple.. I saw napa has a sensor replacement fot $7...other thing your float inside could be stuck cause of dirt accumulation when filling.. so you could remove, clean and test it out of the vehicie to see if it floats or is sunk to the bottom

      Jt Lansang, I was wrong. You can just unplug the connector from the bottom of the reservoir and the warning light will disappear from the dash. That's how I did it to my 2015 Impreza where I don't care because Ill know when the tank is empty when there's no fluid come out. LOL
