    I made the cake from this recipe and it turned out OKAYish I would say.
    My suggestion to others making it is maybe try doing the ingredients in half and making it first. Since the frosting has ingredients in big amount here.
    Honest opinion: not the best cake recipe, average. 👩‍🍳

      @@kasseyamaya4670 hi! It did not taste like a rich chocolate cake in my opinion. And also the texture did not come out as soft and fluffy. Both the cake and the frosting in combination did not turn up as a favourite chocolate cake. I have tried some other recipes in the past, in comparison to it this wasn’t that great and felt like a waste of too many ingredients.

      @@kasseyamaya4670 Honest Review: I read everyone’s comment and decided to give it a go. Only after making the cake, did I go back and really read the comments. Majority of it speaks of the texture; fluffiness, softness etc. The cake really did have an amazing texture. BUT, it was tooo much coco powder ratio to the rest of ingredients. Apart from the overpowering coco flavour. It wasn’t sweet at all. I know some people don’t like overly sweet, but this was really far off from being sweet. I don’t think I tasted anything other than cocoa powder. Certainly didn’t taste like cake to me. Really disappointed.

    Interesting to know you didn't think chocolate cake can be made without melted chocolate. Haven't made it any other way because the cocoa powder method is more common here. Big fan from Nigeria 🇳🇬. Thank you for your recipes.

    BEST chocolate cake I have ever had. It wasn't dry like most folk stated. I am feeling EXTREMELY blessed to have this recipe. I was made to look (and felt like) a "real" baker, when I carried this cake to my cousin's birthday celebration.
    A seasoned baker sat down next to me and gave me rave reviews on THIS cake. She showed me some of her creations and recipes and she's really GOOD. She said: your cake was AMAZING 🩷
    It was very pretty as well. I made a cream cheese icing and added Cocoa powder.
    For cupcakes, you don't even need any icing 🤍

    I made this cake with the chocolate cream cheese frosting and it was delicious. Moist and tender. My husband raved about it! Rather than a layered cake, I made it as a sheet cake in a 9" X 13" metal pan. It took 30 minutes to bake. Half the chocolate cream cheese recipe would have been enough. The full recipe made about 4.5 cups - 2 cups would have been sufficient for a sheet cake. Definite winner! Thank you, MK, for your video!!!

    Could I replace the instant coffee with more cocoa powder or anything else? I know it's there to enhance the chocolate flavour but I despise coffee with a passion and can taste it even if people claim you can't. I tried instant coffee in a few recipes and couldn't really enjoy the outcome because there was always the underlining note of coffee.
    Btw just a few hours ago I made your vanilla cake and thought this could also make a good chocolate cake. Was the first recipe of yours I tried and I'm still struggling to decide if I want acream cheese frosting, a (whipped) ganache or a (not American) butter cream. So many good looking options to choose from in your recipe.
    Thanks for all the work and passion you put into this. ❤

    Definitely the best cocoa-powder-only recipe I've tried! I don't usually like boxed chocolate cakes or recipes that only use cocoa powder. They taste like cardboard to me. I'd rather not. I was pleasantly surprised how chocolatey this one was, though! Not quite as good as a melted chocolate cake imo, but I quite liked it, and that's not something I usually say about chocolate cake lol

    Is it possible to cut back some of the sugar without compromising the balance too much?
    I know sugar helps with the moisture in the cake but is there a save amount I coud just not add or substitute it with something?
    Thanks again for everything you do for your community.😊

      Hi there! Hmmm so the thing is this cake has a lot of cocoa powder in it, so if you reduce the sugar then the cake may be a little bitter (the cake itself is not overly sweet). If you want to try it though I would recommend not reducing it by anymore than 1/4 cup (50g) :) hope that helps!

    Is the unsweetened cocoa powder the Dutch process type or the natural type? Thanks!

    • @CakesbyMK
      @CakesbyMK  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! The one I use is called baking cocoa but is dark and has acidity regulators so I believe it's Dutch processed :)

    Hi there, hope you doing good 😇I usually do homemade buttermilk using vinegar. In your recipe you have mentioned to add 1tsp vinegar. My doubt is I already added vinegar in buttermilk and do I need to add 1tsp vinegar again?

    I have tried your recipes word for word, step for step and I've never gotten the size of cakes you make. I always get one tin. So I'm forced to double the recipe.

      Hi there! Hmmm interesting! Are you perhaps using larger cake tins? Mine are 8 inches :) I would also recommend using the gram measurements if you aren't already, as cup measurements can be slightly different based on where you are in the world :) hope that helps!

    • @tonybrian7652
      @tonybrian7652 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CakesbyMK I make the conversion from cups to grams using Google, so it might be the tin sizes, and since my history in cake baking I'd never baked a flat topped cake but all that changed when I followed your counsel and baked at '160° - fan on', all thanks to you.
