  • I LOVE selling men's clothes online on reselling platforms like Poshmark, ebay, Mercari, and Facebook Marketplace. I, like many of you, don't find expensive brands very often in my thrift stores and/or consignment stores, but I have discovered which bread and butter brands can still sell for $25 or more. These men's brands and categories are consistent sellers, and, best of all, I find these brands all the time in my thrift stores!
    So let me now in the comments below - which men's brands are your bread and butter brands? What categories of men's clothes are you able to sell easily?

    Love your videos. I just started selling clothes seriously about 1 year ago., my best finds are Carhartt, Columbia, Ralph Lauren, Lauren Ralph Lauren, Rothco. So far. I am still learning. On brooks brothers I only found one sweater for women so far and I got that for 1 buck & it sold for 25 right away . It was a good flip. It was a older style so I was shocked it sold so fast. I found a store pretty close to me where I seem to find these brands. I found a bunch of Tommy Bahama with tags there, they were priced up but I hope to do well with them this summer. I enjoy selling mens clothes so far. I do cross list and that has really helped my sales.

I have some Callaway sitting at home waiting to be listed, and a LOT of Greg Norman that hasn't sold yet haha. But I'm sure it will! Great video but I have to disagree about vintage Banana Republic. When the company first started it was called Banana Republic Travel & Safari Company and those pieces date from 1978 to 1988. This was safari clothing, inspired by the founder's travels to the Australian bush (the history of BR is interesting), As any rate, if you can find those pieces in good condition they have a cult like following and can sell for very good money. Every piece of BR with the Travel & Safari label I have found (and I find it at my bins) I have sold for substantially more than $25!! xo

      Thriftalife is a GREAT channel! I unfortunately don't find a lot of the brands he mentions in my area, but at least his videos inform me on men's brands can sell for a high dollar amount so I know if I do ever come across them in the wild!

  • @alzibiades
    @alzibiades 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great video!! I sell primarily mens clothes because womens clothes baffle me. Lol if ya want a leg up on mens clothes, thrift a life on here created the mens manifesto which lists every man's brand, he ranks it by sell thru rate and asp. It takes alot of the guessing game out of what to pickup.
    You have to be careful with levis if ya dont mind letting it sit for a long time because some of their brands are too crowded like 505, 514, 541, 550, 559, and 569. I have been adding dad to my 550, 559, and 569 list titles on ebay because these are considered "dad jeans" and i have seen an uptick in my sales for these levis. I sell the crap out of the 511, 517, and 527 which have 70-100% sell thru rates on ebay. 517 and 527 i concentrate 30-34 waist because the sell thru rate is like 200-250%. I tend to stay away from 40 and above waist jeans in general because they just sit and they are a pain to ship in flat rate mailers. 36 and 38 is a coin flip for me.
    The higher end levis lines are levis premium quality and levis made & crafted.
    What i have learned is the louder the print for shorts and shirts will increase its desirability and thus its value for thr most part. I like selling Abercrombie & fitch jeans. I liked selling American eagle jeans but the asp is coming down because people are catching on to them so the supply is going up.

      thriftalife is GREAT! There are definitely SO many men's brands that sell for super high amounts - I just don't see those brands where I live, so I wouldn't consider them bread and butter brands. But you're right - it's good to study up on those brands so that if we were to ever see them in the wild, we'd know what we had in front of us! But the men's section of my Goodwills is SO sad :( There's barely anything there, and I think a lot of it is because men tend to wear their clothes out more than women, so there just isn't as much to choose from at the thrift stores. At least at mine.
      Thank you for sharing such AMAZING tips on Levi's! I'm literally going to write them down haha.

      @@beckyparkco I am right there with you with regards to having limited selection at my goodwill. I live in SE CT. There are days that I find gems but most I just find the usual items. If I had to list my bread & butter mens brands: American eagle, levis, express, banana republic, Abercrombie & fitch, j crew, wrangler, and lee. People look down on Wrangler but there are hidden gems in that brand specifically their Retro line (150-200% sell thru rate) and old cowboy cut 13wz jeans. I have been avoiding American Eagle jeans because it is getting overcrowded and ASP is $18-22 now. Express jeans can typically sell for $22-28 depending on style and wash. The darker wash jeans typically sell for more.
      If I had to pick styles that are moving right now are relaxed fit, slim straight, slim, wide leg, and tapered. Skinny and straight sell but at slower rates if ignoring other factors.

      @sarahbee levis are very competitive on ebay especially 501, 505, 514, 550, 559, and 569. 517 and 527 sell like crazy if you can find them. 511s sell decent. 517 and 527s have 70-100% sell thru rates but the 30-34 waist is 200-250%. I only pickup 501s of there is something unique about them or black. Stay away from other colors i have found. Generally black or gray is a good color across most levis. The gold color for 511s is a hot color. I would put dad in your list title for 501s, 550s, 559, and 569. Dad jeans are big right now.

      I know some people have done this, whether on Poshmark or on eBay. I think it's really a preference. I get that perhaps someone's shopping experience would be better on Poshmark if they only have to look through a closet full of women's stuff versus a hodge podge of everything, but I can also see how from the seller's perspective, it's a LOT to manage two separate closets. I'd love to know what you decide!

    I'm a professional ebay seller and except for Carhartt and Affliction, these brands are not even in the top 100 best brands (highest sell thru rates) sold. These brands are not good. All these brands have flooded the market and unless you find something very specific like Nike ACG, made in USA, or like a cashmere Banana republic sweater, none of these will sell very good. If you are making money off them, more power to you, but statistically these brands do not sell well.

    Some of the items you mentioned are such slow sellers. I don't recommend you ever picking them up because you can sell items for better sell through rate than that. Selling Banana Republic and LL bean items at 6-13$ is just not sustainable specially when you are not seeing return on your investment quickly. Ouch. Don't sell these things guys trust me I'm a clothing seller for 13 years.
