    I'm so glad that you put this blog up because I was wondering how I was going to find out the DMC codes for the colours that I don't have the numbers for I just have a letter or just one number thank you for sharing

    I highly suggest getting reverse tweezers, you pinch to open them and once the tweezers grab hold you loosen the pinch and it’s super easy on your hands!!!

      I have never heard of those before. I have reverse scissors because of the arthritis in my thumbs I was dying from cutting an entire quilt by hand. Would it be like that?

    I just purchased my 2nd diamond painting kit today. It was made in Russia, so I looked at the diamonds and the color chart on the canvas and even though it doesn't say DMC, I think the diamonds are identified by the DMC color codes. If I remember correctly 310 on the DMC chart is black and that is how they numbered the bag of black diamonds. I intend to invest into one of the DMC charts to make sure! This project will be the first full canvas that I'll be doing and using the square diamonds.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Welcome to your new addiction ☺️ But yes, if they put codes on your canvas, they are the DMC codes. 310 is black universally for sure!

    Great video... can I just say, off subject... the child that comes in during your video is great. I love how you allow her to "interrupt" instead of telling her to go away. I also love how she said she got a little sick from too much soda and you didnt jump off and run to deal with it. I hate that my comment sounds sarcastic, it's really not meant that way. I just constantly see videos where kids are told to go away or they get full attention and we get a ruined video. Lol. We as moms/grandmas/caretakers of little ones never hear it enough... you are doing a good job! Keep it up!!

    Hi, i hope you can see my message. I'm a newbie in Diamond Painting and luckily i found this video which really answered my question. I bought a color chart in Australia but I am disappointed that it was only sent through PDF file to my email. I am really upset but I have it printed in colored but in a plain bond paper. The colors on the printed chart are pale that is why I am having a hard time matching the colors to my excess diamonds. Thank you so much for sharing this video. I am planning to buy the same chart that you have so I can name my diamonds already. I hope to be one of your friend as well :)

    The one diamond painting I had did not have any DMC numbers either on the bag but I checked the painting and it had the DMC number there. Than I wrote it on the bag till I get a better system.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, those ones still have the numbers, thank goodness. But sometimes, there is none whatsoever, like on Diamond Dotz.

      Most of the time it's on rounds that don't have the numbers, but there are always those leftovers that don't match the leftovers from another painting too that need to be renumbered. That was my main inspiration for getting the chart.

      I should of got one sooner, but I was trying to find this mythical chart that actually had drills in the spot where the color is. Never could find it. Even contacted DMC and they said that they didn't make one.

  • @dawnlynch7691
    @dawnlynch7691 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use those little bottles and I also use the little bags as well to transfer over the excess that's left over from the picture I've got quite a lot of ones that haven't got the DMC numbers so I'm going to order a book from Amazon when I get paid so I can get the proper numbers for them

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is very tedious work, but I feel it is well worth doing it. :) The first one takes the longest for me since I have to match it, then glue it onto the chart. After that, I think it will be much faster.

    Hi! I haven't done a diamond painting yet (it's on the way!) but I have done a lot of paint by numbers and I have a tip for you! Instead of using a magnifying glass, I purchased a strong pair of readers from the dollar store. Instant magnifier! I like the 3x myself :) Hope this helps! AND I am so appreciative of your videos, they totally pushed me over the edge to join the craze.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I am glad I pushed you over the edge to join the fray lol. I do wear glasses already and I only need to magnify once in a blue moon. I did buy those clip on readers to put on my glasses, but I didn't need them that often so it was more of a nuisance than anything. Thanks for the tip though! Someone may be running to the dollar tree now to go get some lol.

    I love the round containers you are using. I bought the pandahall 3 packs for a total of 90 round containers on Amazon. I have set them up for both my round and square leftover drills. They don’t take up a lot of space and stack nicely on my shelves. Thank you for the links for the dmc stickers and code number chart, that will help me considerably. I have been using round chromalabel labels which fit perfectly on the top of the round containers. I purchased them from Amazon and they are 3/4” REMOVABLE (and they can be removed easily) and come in a dispenser box (1,000 labels). Maybe some of this info can help you and some of your viewers with storage. Thanks for your great videos.

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are more than welcome! That is the same set I bought the first time. It was the 90 for $30, which is the same price I can get them at hobby lobby. However, I caught a sale at Joanne's for half price so I was able to get 90 for $15, what a steal! Thanks for the tips, I may look into those labels because I am running low and the dollar tree seems to run out of the white ones fast.

    I am having trouble organizing some of my drills. The numbers are different then the DMC chart. For instance these codes are, 17-B045, 21-B1246 & 15-JH198. How do I figure out where to put these? Sorry I just started DIAMOND ART PAINTINGS. I'm kind of a Diamond Art Dummy

    • @theresashea5179
      @theresashea5179 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh your not in the US right?

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theresashea5179 I am in the US. The first number you see is just the number for reference for that particular diamond painting. So, say there are 50 colors for that diamond painting, they will just have 1-50 listed. Those numbers have nothing to do with the DMC color and can be ignored when filing away your extras. You just need to pay attention to the second number, as long as it is using the DMC codes. The numbers you have as an example do not seem to be using DMC codes so you will need to compare each color to the chart in order to match them to their DMC number. Companies like Diamond Art Club use DMC numbers. Diamond Dotz has their own numbering system as well. I have a chart in my group files that give you the DMC equivalent to their numbering system.

    ok thank but where can I get one of those?

  • @dorothyminton3994
    @dorothyminton3994 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Enjoyed watching this, but there is no need to pay out for tweezers etc. Just roll up a piece of blue tack around a small cocktail stick.Then make one end into a roundish lump. Push the drill a fraction of an inch into the blue tack lump and you can run it up and down your colour chart. When you have finished, just take the drill out of the tack and put into your prepared pot. Insert the next colour drill and start over again. Most household have blue or white tack for Christmas decorating so it will not cost you anything to make. I just wrap the one I have made into cling film and get it out when needed. It is good for picking up spilt drills as well, just roll a ball of tack and flatten one side, press onto spilt drills then pick off and put into pot.

    Hello, where did u get the dmc color numbers and do all dp drills coincide with dmc color chart. I know sometimes you get colors that are not dmc it's so other company, but I'm new to the art and trying to see how to number my drills. Do I just need to number them by dmc and not the number that the drills come in?

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, welcome to the wonderful world of diamond painting ☺️! You do not need to keep the numbers that coencide with the symbols because that is just for that one specific project. No two color charts will be the same because of print differences. Even with the drill colors, there will be different dye lots so each company will have different shades of that color for that dmc number. This is why I have a separate stash for Diamond Art Club than I do for Diamond Dotz. But these are the only 2 companies I now keep my leftovers for. The quality is much better for companies that make their own drills than those that buy from an outside supplier. I have linked in the description where you can get the chart that I show in this video. If it no longer works, I can get you an updated one 🥰

    Hi I have a question. I have always wondered why the dmc stickers and code books etc only go up to between approx 400 to 800 max but I have several paintings that are in the 3000s. Are those a different brand or something ?

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The official DMC color codes start in the 100s and go through the 900's and then they pick up at the 3000's. There are no codes in the 1000's or 2000's. I'm not sure what books you are referring to, but my set of DMC stickers have all of the 3000 codes included :)

    What do you do when yo can't make out if the colours match or not. Do all companys use the same shade I bought the same diamond art kit twice as gave one away but the diamonds seem to be diffrent shades is this normal

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most companies that are based in China, which includes diamond paintings bought on Amazon, are very inconsistent with their dills. You are not guaranteed to get the same dye lot from one kit to another. It is very common to have the same DMC number be off from one company to the next because of thee dye lots. I am now only saving my leftover drills from high end companies and I keep them separate from each other. The rest I am just tossing away. It is too hard for me to compare colors like this. Getting older, my eyesight is not able to distinguish the differences.

    AWESOME idea for numbering the mystery drills! I just found a DMC chart in the box of my late Mom's cross stitch supplies. Would you be able to hold the entire bag up to the chart instead of one drill, or is there a glare?
    LMAO...round drills in round containers....I LOVE IT

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup :) Now I won't have to search which containers have which drills. You could hold the bag to it, it is up to you. I figured I would glue the one that I was comparing onto the color strip so that would make comparing drills easier, with using the magnifier.

      I use my magnifying glass with light to look very closely at them. Sometimes it is very hard to tell the difference and I spend a long time looking and just can't tell. I started doing this and i have so many drills that say they are one number but it doesn't match that color at all. Do you use bright lights or does the magnifying glass help more for comparing the colors?

      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use both. When I can't tell for certain, I will have to get up close with the magnifier.

    What is the difference between the regular number next to the symbol and the DMC? I’m confused. 😊

    • @DPbyDoni
      @DPbyDoni  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DMC color numbers are universal to all diamond paintings. Each diamond matches up to one of the DMC numbers. Some paintings use numbers like 1-10 then move on to letters, for their diamonds, however, they still have a DMC color. It's like their product number. But when a painting just uses 1-10, it is to make it easier for the painter to find the number they need to place. But when you have leftovers or are missing a diamond, you need that DMC number to know which one to order or to ask for from someone outside of the person you got it from. Being that the DMC numbers are universal, if you know it's DMC number, you have a ton more choices on finding what you need, rather than just relying on that seller that you got the painting from that was missing the diamonds you are looking for. I hope this explains it. I am not sure if I just confused you more or what.

    Doni, I am a new subscriber I love you and your videos, I have a question though, I had some drills with numbers not sure if they are dmc though I got the dmc book that you have and the numbers that the kit gave them don't really match, should I just try and match it with the closest one, or just use the number the kit gave them some of them match up well with what the numbers say others dont , what would you do ? please help

      Are you referring to after you are finished with your painting or before you have started placing drill to canvas?

      @@DPbyDoniI was talking about before I start my painting, I was trying to put the diamonds into storage containers and I guess my lighting was not real good , it was late at night and they looked like they did not match the dmc numbers, but now this morning they look much better, now I do have some paintings that do not have dmc numbers so should I just try and match them up the best that I can with the chart , thanks again

      Nah I knew you weren't. But that is basically what I was going to say. Floss colors compared to the chart don't match? No biggie, we aren't sticking floss to our paintings ;)
