  • PLEASE keep in mind that this was filmed at the very beginning of 2018, when diamond painting was only starting to become popular in the USA and there was not much info on it at the time. Therefore my use of words to describe things are not using proper terminology for what we know them to be now.
    A more in-depth video on Paint with Diamonds. The instructions that come with the picture are minimal and very poorly translated, even though it’s not difficult I hope this video helps people understand how it works. For more... • Diamond Painting Quick...

    So glad I watched this! The adhesive paper was covering up the color key on my canvas. I was going by the bad quality printer paper that came with very limited instructions. After I saw you show that key I checked under the paper...and lo & behold....a legible color key! Yay! Thank you

    Great tutorial. I've always done cross stitch projects and just recently started diamond painting and I'm hooked. Both crafts are a great and its so rewarding when you can show off your beautiful finished picture! One tip I learned from another tutorial was to use Blue Tac instead of the red wax squares that come with the kit. You hardly ever have to reload your pen.
    *When you mentioned using a label maker I immediately thought of Monica from Friends 😄* Thanks for the great video!! Happy painting!

    Thank you, just got my first picture today. I got to applicators and was wondering why both applicators had different ends. Glad I watched this, because one of my applicators does 3 in a row. Knowing me I wouldn’t have tried it not knowing this. That’s all that helped me in this video. I wish you would have shown or told us how to get the wrinkles out when first opening it. I watched another video of someone suggesting to iron it. Plastic side down on a tea towel, back facing up. Then placing another tea towel on top, with a cool lowest warm setting, gently iron over the towel, DO NOT remove film on front where diamonds go. Iron in spurts, don’t leave on , don’t press hard.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cherie Sullivan I have other videos on my channel that show that simply lifting up the entire cover and pressing it back down evenly will get rid of wrinkles. I had a couple of paintings that were so wrinkled I laid books on them for a little while to flatten them after I peeled and resealed the cover.

      Sherry loves stitching not really because... start a few (3 or 4) diamonds inside from the corner and then place 4 around it and so on and so on. Do this instead of starting with the diamond in the corner first.

    Really nice tutorial. Have you thought about labeling the bead containers directly with the grid symbol as well as the number. That speed up my paint significantly since I don't have to check the symbol/number everytime I change color (I picked quite a colorful picture).

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      svenynka Hi. As the same with cross stitch floss, I use the same containers between diamond kits. So the numbers will stay the same but the symbol will change with different kits. That’s the only reason I don’t put the symbol on the container. For more info... th-cam.com/video/lCc9QblUfYs/w-d-xo.html

      Kathy Kinnaman I would try the stitchestostones website but unfortunately it’s closed for maintenance until April 19th. The good news is the numbers are usually congruent between the different companies and the 3346 should match your 3346 in your kit.

    Hi I’ve just started my first picture as it is really small 20cmx25cm I have been doing all the small areas first and leaving the larger area of colour until last .should I be doing a complete area like you have done ? I guess if it was bigger I would have done . I make sure I cover the areas left so it’s still sticky ? Thank you .

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Debbie Pack as long as you protect the adhesive background (which sounds like you do), you’re okay. I like doing a complete area at once for two main reasons: 1) I get bored with a color and want to have sometimes two colors at once 2) I like having them all snug in place before I move away from that area of the canvas. Both of these are preferences of me and not something that has to be done.

    Hi. Do you ‘change’ the storage when you get a new photo?
    I have 2 pictures but all the Numbers from my previous picture and my new picture are coloured differently.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would change out the diamonds should the numbers and color that go with the number not match what I already have for that number. Just like with yarn, I’m sure they have different dye lots for batches of diamonds that they manufacture. If you order two pics from different companies, then it might be a complete different color with the same number.

    • @etcktryd
      @etcktryd 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In case you didn't mean differences in dye lots, it's easy to use masking tape for your numbers and then peel it off and put on new numbers found in the next kit.

    Great tutorial, one question how do you frame your finished paintings

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      April Mucklow there are many ways you can go about framing (have it custom framed, find a regular frame that fits perfectly, put it on a wood frame like a painting canvas) but what I do is get a frame close to the size of the picture and put a poster board behind it to make up for the excess size. You probably won’t be able to find an exact dimension match since we use inches and the picture is in centimeters so this is the easiest solution.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dawn clements I don’t seal mine because I put them behind glass frame, but if you were to want to seal it when it’s done use mod podge and a brush that would not create bubbles as you brush it on. Do a thin layer to allow the glue to go between the diamonds and not puddle

    Hi,im new at this kind of art,im just confuse if im going to frame it in glass,,do i need to seal it first to make it stay last longer?to avoid falling of the drills?

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alyssa Garcia I frame mine in glass. th-cam.com/video/JO8ynknbp6o/w-d-xo.html here’s a video on how to do that easily. Also I don’t seal mine but if I did then I would use mod podge in a light layer because it dries clear and it smooths itself out well. But to risk taking away from the shine, I wouldn’t seal it at all if your putting it in a glass frame.

    @pegthornhill9927 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some paper got on my sticky part of the picture and after I got the paper off I have no sticky on the picture. What do you suggest I do. Dipping the dots in super glue made it really stiff and took away the shine

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Peg Thornhill I would brush some mod podge on the canvas and so one small area at a time. Or brush on rubber cement, but mod podge is better

    I'm new to diamond painting and was wondering where you purchase your larger canvases? I got mine from Amazon /3rd party seller and they are not complete pictures. I bought a mermaid for my daughter and the only diamond part was her tail..very disappointing to say the least. Not to mention it came from China so took many weeks to arrive to my home. Thanks very much. Plus mine are the circle diamonds...they won't fit as well as the squares for obvious reasons.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Catherine Montalbano-Harris I get most of mine from paintwithdiamonds.com. They’re a little bit more pricy than amazon but they are more descriptive. If it says “full drill”, then the entire picture is diamonds. They do have some “partial drill” but have them separated on the website. Also they come from China and will be 4 weeks to get to the states.

    Staci, I have major issues with my round beads sticking together. I’ve used cut pieces of dryer sheets to help with static in containers with no success. Do you have any suggestions as to an easier way to pull them apart?

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erika Grubbs I don’t really have any suggestions on the static thing. I kind of like a little bit of static so the diamonds cling to the tip of the applicator, but I haven’t figured out how to get rid of it if there’s a lot of static

    • @erikagrubbs3630
      @erikagrubbs3630 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your reply, but I don’t think it is this static that causes the diamonds to stick together. Every pack of diamonds have had at least 10 diamonds on the flat end stuck together. I’ve tried with some of them to pull apart with tweezers and using my finger nails. Some come loose, but most end up end flying into never land. Does the square diamonds stick together like that? I am curious if you or anyone else have had this issue?

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erika Grubbs I do have some that are molded together but never as many as that many in a pack. Try an x-acto knife would be the solution but watch out for fingers. Also, I like your “neverland” reference. 🙂

    • @erikagrubbs3630
      @erikagrubbs3630 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Staci Noelle Thank you for your quick response. I will try that. I’m hoping my next kit will not have so many of them stuck together.😁

    • @NoDontLikeIt
      @NoDontLikeIt 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Erika Grubbs pour the diamonds into the green working tray, stack another working tray on top and press down (you’ll hear popping, the diamonds are coming from together). You may have to take the top tray off and shake or stir your working tray and stack the top tray on again and press down several times to get them all to break apart. I hope that makes sense (it’s kind of hard to explain. Lol) and helps you. I’ll try to explain it differently if you don’t quite understand.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be easier to do section by section if your sections are larger. One area at a time rather than one color at a time is much easier. This way you can have multiple colors out if you have more than one tray.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeanne Born if you can break them apart because they’re connected by a small piece of plastic, you have to it that way individually. 🙁 If they’re stuck with thick plastic (like bottoms stuck together) they’re defective and you can’t break them.

      If you have done more than one of these things. I've used a second green tray. Pour your diamonds in the tray like normal, give them a little shake and place the second green tray over the top and apply slight pressure all over the tray. Repeat a few times until the diamonds are separated

If you don't want to return the kit to the company and ask for exchange or refund, then I would try a very thin layer of craft glue or putting double stick tape on your canvas. Both of these options are absolutely time consuming and probably way too much work but if you want to keep your kit these are the only ideas I have. I'm sorry :(

    I have just recieved the neon cat picture but the 'diamonds' are all round. Won't it look weird or incomplete, being that the graph is printed in squares?

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Icy U was it supposed to be a square drill? I don’t do round drills so I have no idea if the graph is printed in squares or not.

    • @icyblue432
      @icyblue432 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure it will work out ok in the end. The graph is coloured so I'm going to assume that as long as the numbers/letters are covered by the diamonds, it will look fine. Thanks so much for your response. I did enjoy your tutorial. 😊

      I have only done rounds and they come out great. Because the background is colored it shows around the beads.

    • @etcktryd
      @etcktryd 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Circles are actually preferred to squared by many people because they have more facets and are therefore shinier and sparkle more. The background is colored and once done it's not even noticeable as "something wrong." Seems to me the only reason for using squares is if you won't be framing it (and even then I myself would not use squares).

    What are all the tools that come with the set? So far a lot of different sets come with different type of tools.

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Midnite DE they’ll always come with tweezers and a tray. They come mostly with the type of applicator pen that is in this video. The pen will always have a single side and a multiple diamond side. The multiple may be a 3, 5, or 10 diamond row. If the kit has this type of applicator they will always give you a wax square to load it with. Some kits come with an applicator that looks like a white colored pencil and no wax because the pencil is waxy on its own.

    How do u separate the heads when they stick to each other the flat sides together? Thank u

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Joanne Eichelberger if they’re stuck together like that from the factory, then there’s a defect and can’t be separated. Most of the time they’re stuck together on the sides with a very small piece of plastic which can be easily broken apart. But if they’re stuck together by the bottoms then they’re defected.

    • @etcktryd
      @etcktryd 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If splitting side to side consider using an exacto knife (a razor blade) so the split is a little cleaner in case they don't break apart smoothly (though they should).

    • @judythomas584
      @judythomas584 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take a tray of drills and put another empty tray on top and rub the two together, this usually separates the stuck together drills, hope it helps

      Michaels just got “Diamond Dotz” pictures in stock. They are round drill (circle diamonds) pictures that may or may not be full coverage.
      As of this date, that is the only in store products that I know of.

    Are they easy to frame?

    • @SassyStaci
      @SassyStaci  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      catsandferns there are many ways you can go about framing (have it custom framed, find a regular frame that fits perfectly, put it on a wood frame like a painting canvas) but what I do is get a frame close to the size of the picture and put a poster board behind it to make up for the excess size. You probably won’t be able to find an exact dimension match since we use inches and the picture is in centimeters so this is the easiest solution.
