Definitely still the most epic and emotional regeneration, in my opinion
Agreed!
Agreed
Matts is amazing tho
@@blooooblaaa yea his was awesome too
Too right I cried my eyes out when David Tennant regenerated to Matt Smith.
At my funeral, someone has to be hired to hide in my coffin. This song will play and he'll burst out, and play me for the rest of his life.
Would only work if you were rich beyond imagining... But if you are rich enough and pick very smart people you'll basically exist perpetually through them
Eventually the "regenerations" would lose sight of the original you, and your beliefs and ideas now would not reapply in the future, yet your regenerations would be contractually obliged to behave in the same way.
How cool would it be if they could grow bodies with blank brains and then copy your consciousness onto the brain before you die so you can just go on living? They'd have to ban breeding to prevent massive overpopulation but you wouldn't have to breed.
*Grabs ak-46 with as silencer a dalek exterminater gun*
fantasticoproduction that is literally what regenerations are supposed to be, though
"This song is ending, but the story never ends."
I like that, because even though David regenerated, it's not the end of the show. If you had some passion (tennant fan-girls who for some reason hate matt) for the show originally, you wouldn't judge it on how much you like the actor, but on how much you like the doctor. He changes, and becomes someone with a different personality, but that's the point of the show. To have the doctor live forever, and different personalities gives it character.
Think we can all agree Chibnall's era deserves to be exterminated.
(Dalek Voice): “CHIBNALL HAS BEEN EXTERMINATED!”
I don't hate Matt...
I love Dave, I adore Matt for different reasons but they're both great and important
Hes back
0:52.
That low bass note, 10’s face, and the choir, all at the same moment, gets me every time.
Not to mention, it's 9th/10th Doctor's leitmotif!
Somehow, I found this more emotionally traumatizing than on the original episode.
It's probably the music.
tru
I guess because you see the replacement coming onto the stage. The tenth was the Doctor to me, it really took years for me to start watching again after he regenerated. Matt Smith turned out to be better than I thought.
It's the Opera guy hitting the high-high-high notes
Yes the music, but maybe seeing all these bodies in one room, dedicating their talents.
Playing one final song as an act of tribute for what the doctor has done, in hopes to comfort him in his final moment.
The line before he regenerated was beautiful, 'I don't want to go.'
That was also spidermans last line before he got dusted
Yet at the same time so sad.
S3nS31cr1n93 I remember reading that Tom Holland improvised that line from this
That was actually David saying it too. David I believed improved it
@@retrospect6904 no it was in the script there are takes of him doing it at different levels of emotion
Ten was my first Doctor. I binged his episodes on Netflix, got to *THAT* episode, and what sealed the deal was him talking to Rose one last time before regenerating, and then he did and I cried back then, I still cry now.
Yeah he called to say he is me and he needs your help. It really is me. For one regeneration
I cried too
It's a wonderful scene because his other goodbyes were him helping someone with a sombre face. He just wanted to see Rose, and having that moment with her gave him one last smile and the feeling that he could let go.
The contrast between 'Rose's theme' and the shivery beginning of 'Vale Decem' is moving.
Omg yeah! The 'you're gonna have a great year' breaks my heart everytime 💔😭
We saw his regeneration on 1 January two thousand and TEN
k
In few more months and it would have been TEN years ago, can you believe it?
@@harry1995ification yup.
@@harry1995ification its already TEN years ago
11 years ago omg
I was there the night they recorded this, his voice had such power and the orchestra was amazing. it was an incredible experience!
That "I don't want to go" cracked the hard shell I accuired with David Tennant's Doctor throughout the episodes. I cried like a newborn baby. Thanks for everything David for me you are THE doctor.
I want that music when I regenerate
Hold up.
Hol up
Hold up.
!pu dloH
Same lol
From all of the official Doctor Who songs in the soundtracks, this one has to be my most favorite.
its not really a song
@@leoholder7839 Yeah. Because it has no singing at all, which if it did, it would make it a song... smfh
do you know what latin is?@@SStupendous
Some of the lyrics translated is "Farewell ten" and "You will be missed". :(
Vale Decem means Farewell Ten, and right before the regeneration, Vale (Farewell) is said ten times in the run up to the Doctor Theme being played.
Vale Decem means Farewell Ten
Et non desiderari means You will be missed
VALEEEEEEEEE yep... very sad.
Full lyrics:
Latin:
Vale decem
Ad aeternam
Di meliora
Ad aeternam
Vale decem
Di meliora
Beati
Pacifici
Vale decem
Alis grave
Ad perpetuam
Memoriam
Vale decem
Gratis tibi ago
Ad aeternam
Numquam singularis
Numquam
Dum spiro fido
Vale vale vale vale ...
English:
Farewell ten
On to eternity
The fates be with you
On to eternity
Farewell ten
The fates be with you
Oh, blessed he
Who brought us peace
Farewell ten
Lay down your burden
We will remember you
Forever more
Farewell ten
We give you thanks
On to eternity
You are not alone
Never
Trust to the last
Farewell farewell farewell farewell ...
[The guy singing is a counter tenor - the highest male voice and very rare. My cousin is a counter tenor yet his normal speaking voice is mild baritone! The singing voice is high just because that's the way the vocal chords have developed, as well as the other parts of the chest and throat that help make sounds.]
I cried to see Ten regenerating. He was wonderful and great and completely lovely: quirky, principled and just a bit mad. I love Ten and DT to pieces!
He could have done so much more.
Garry Shane Baldridge Why man? Why? I was already crying!!!!
SO MUCH MORE!!!!
Garry Shane Baldridge he did the day of the doctor episode
whatisgaming his last line in that episode was I dont want to go!!!😢😢
Jeevan Ganatra The end of time part 2.
The way the score transforms into a more fast paced track when eleven appears (in the actual ep) is a really nice touch. The music fits their respective personalities. Ten was burdened with the loss he had been through and was holding everything in. When he let it go it was bound to explode. And out came eleven with his youthful cheery nature who seems to be looking for trouble. The music reflected all this perfectly.
The universe will sing you to your sleep.
No. You cry like a baby.
David Tennant regenerates into Matt Smith to me was and is still the best regeneration ever
Kidneys!
Everytime I see this regeneration I shed a tear at the sheer emotion that was poured into this scene. David Tennant we will miss you as the doctor forever. Matt Smith, keep on going buddy, you're doing great.
I couldn't do it, I started to tear up when I saw him about to regenerate and I had to stop it I love the music but David's face looks so sad
Matt Berry why would you say that ;'(
He's sad he knows that his next regeneration is the last (well due to the fact that Gallifrey gave him another 13 regenerations its not his last anymore)
Sam Mulvihill i think he was sad as the actor because he was no longer going to play the doctor
@@annabel139well
Tennant will always be the best Doctor, Matt does an excellent job by Tennant nailed it from first moment to the heartbreaking last.
I loved it when Matt emerged from the regeneration! A Fresh-faced ball of energy and wonder! He will always be my favourite.
I can only imagine the power of seeing it with a full symphony orchestra, massive choir. The emotions would have overcome me ... they did just watching this clip ... WOW!
This is my favourite piece, the fact that they give us 5 years to enjoy this Doctor then hit us with this? Could make the toughest men cry. Oh and that buildup? Masterpiece
Even years and years after the fact, this still brings tears to my eyes
I'll tell you what. I saw David Tennant's regeneration scene, and for the first time in my grown life, my emotions got the better of me and I cried.
a very sad and emotional song excellent gives me shivers down my spine everytime
1:16 the way the choir harmonisés it here makes it even greater than the original
someone who understands hear me out: whenever i see this clip i cry so much, from the music (amazing), from david’s face (he didn’t want to leave the role) but above all, i cry because of the fact he died alone. he had 3 companions in his time because he couldn’t bear to be alone, and after all he did i just can never bear the fact he died alone. it literally kills me. someone tell me i’m not the only one please, i’m crying right now, david tennants episodes were the best there ever was
ur not the only one this is the ONLY TV SERIES OR MOVIE EPISODE *EVER* in time and space thats made me cry while watching it
one of the most beautiful pieces in Doctor Who history. i still find myself tearing up even now.
One of the Greatest pieces of Modern Day composed Music.
1:09 me and you both girl
You, and all of us, my friend
Lol
After all this time, and I love Matt Smith, I still cried my eyes out watching this.. I can't even believe this..
Thank you for posting these videos. Those of us who can't make the Proms do appreciate it, very much.
from a long-time American Who fan :)
It's interesting to compare the audience reaction at this, to the audience reaction of the 13th Doctor, or just Chibnall's era. I really miss the near-uniaminous love we all had for the show, and this insane enthusiasm and excitement towards this.
I love this piece, it's so emotional and evocative. I still think that if I had never seen this tremendously sad regeneration scene it would still evoke feelings of sadness for me.
David Tennant will forever be, in my opinion and others, the greatest Doctor in all of the series.
the first time I saw that scene, I got tears in my eyes. David Tennant was my favorite doctor and I didn't want him to go :(
Murray Gold's finest hour. This moment truly was the end of a dynasty and he made you feel the full weight of it all. To write the The Doctor's Theme in 2005 and so perfectly capture the appeal of one of the most complex, rich characters in fiction in a song to then pay it all off five years later in this sweeping, devastating symphony. There are no words,
David Tennant had such an amazing talent of being able to express his pain so beautifully. I really love Matt Smith however I really am not sure anything anyone ever does after David will touch with me on such an amazing level. I actually felt like David as the Doctor was potraying my life but as a male. Really so wonderful.
they should've had smoke coming out of the tardis towards the end and then have matt smith step out of it
That would have been a great addition.
+MurphyFilms I think there is a video with a Vale Decem performance (2013 I think it is) where Matt Smith does indeed appear at the end in person!
MurphyFilms nah they needed Emilia pond
Stunning ❤️ The Mans voice is amazing
how is he doing that?
The falsetto technique.
Counter-tenor
Images that make you cry..
That bit around 1:00 that has the Doctor's theme gets me every time, and THAT'S the moment that put me in tears.
This is the way Doctor Who should be, operatic, emotional, bigger than life, and always hopeful.
David Tennant's regenaration into Matt Smith was with no doubt the most emotional and touching I've ever seen, down to the wonderful acting and the simply superb music. I admit I cried when Tennant delivered the line "I don't want to go" - that will be hard to top for a farewell line. Matt Smith is a wonderful actor, I'm sure Moffatt will give him a finale to be proud of. . . and a bloody cracking final line which will have me blubbering again.
"I will always remember when The Doctor was me..." - Matt Smith's final words as the doctor. did it leave you blubbering?
Gives me the chills everytime I listen to this.
That music was perfect, what a perfect accompaniment to the scene and helped made it so emotional. :)
Bit of David's The Doctor's Theme there too, absolutely beautiful. You have to give it to Murray Gold, Ben Foster, the orchestra and the choirs. Amazing stuff
THE CUT AT 0:52 THOUGH...PERFECTION, PEOPLE! PERFECTION!
Just when I thought this scene couldn't get any sadder...
ill admit i cried when i saw him regerate he was my hero
That whole sequence had me in tears all over again.
Everytime I see that scene I cry. David is such an amazing actor that you can't help but fall in love with his portrayal of the doctor. Even though I started with Christopher, David will always be my doctor.
still getting goosebumbs...
I wish I would have been there, the music in that scene is always what makes me bawl my eyes out!
Never would have suspected that the main singer was male. He's fantastic!
Simply Beautiful.
The most powerful and emotional song for the exit of the best doctor of all time 💙
I absolutely love, that they honor Doctor Who so marvelously, so properly. Doctor Who is truly inspiring.
Whenever I hear this, I hear the tenth doctor saying: ''I don't want to go..'' in my head..and it makes me feel so sad everytime.
that scene, that music, that doctor...best regeneration ever!!!!
"I don't wanna go..."
My favourite Matt Smith moment was at a San Diego Comic Con. He went out on to the floor wearing a Bart Simpson mask and nobody knew it was him. I only found out about it when I got home and saw the video.
chills. literal chills.
Every time i hear this Song i get Goosebumps :)
I've been on stage there in front on 5,000+ people, it's fracking awesome!!
I think it would have been cool if David and Matt had actually been there to do a live regeneration. Like David stumbles out of the TARDIS and makes his way to the center stage and he says those famous words "I don't want to go." and a bunch of smoke covers him and lines are shinning. then the smoke clears and there stands Matt dressed as 10
to see him go, and then Tennant became my favorite and I was really said to see him go, and now I love Smith and I'll be sad when he leaves. But a big part of the show and a lot of the fun of it, is seeing how different actors have different takes on the same character. It's interesting to see what stays the same about the doctor and what changes. All brilliant actors and all deserve admiration for their great work.
I still cry at this part - so sad! Miss David lots!! Matt is really amazing though!
Tears come to my eyes then laughter fills my heart because matt smith is just hilarios
(zooms in on lady crying her eyes out) that would so be me!!!
So, I just found out about Doctor Who Proms today and have been watching every video I can find of them. I cannot express how incredibly thrilled I am that these exist! I want to go to one so badly!!!
such beautiful music.
I love how he came out, just,
✌️
And the music still has not been this epic and characterized since 💔
I can't believe so much ppl would go there! I wish I could have gone!!! I just luv David Tennant and I luv this song!!!
Great voice!
I always get so teary eyed
This always make me cry
I think Matt Smith did an awesome job as the Doctor and so did Tennant. I like them both equally and am interested to see how Capaldi will be.
This has to be played at Tennant’s funeral
I am going to miss David Tennat he was my favorite doctor
Wow, that was incredible. I never even thought about how much it would take to create that music, but they did such a beautiful job.
SO epic*cry* David Tennant we miss you the best Doctor ever!
makes me cry every time i watch it man i mis that tennant ';(
Wow! That's impressive! The singer is a man! How very RTD! Love it!
Absolutely beautiful song
I just cried all over again. Damn David for making me love him
The Ood sang the tenth Doctor on his way out, that is awesome
I remember going to see doctor who live in glasgow it was freakin awesome and I think it was at a break after the terrifying weeping angel being on the big screen they showed all 10 regenerations and as soon as DT was on every1 just went awwwwwwwwwww
every time.....every time i watch this my eyes tear up....every time...
Everytime I watch this I get chills! Bloody brilliant!
I totally didn't cry through this whole thing. And then when the video finished, I just sat there and really thought about it. And THEN I cried like a complete baby. This. Show.
That guy’s voice. Incredible
love that counter tenor wow but hey it's the Doctor how many years and all wonderful
goosebumps every single time
One of the most emotional scenes in DW history!
so relaxing music
I wish we could get something Iike this in the States...incredible
GOOD VIDEO ,so happy that David tennant regenerate into Matt Smith
