I recently thrifted this vintage wood dresser for under $20 with the plan of giving it a little DIY makeover! This is an easy, doable DIY using fusion mineral paint and minimal tools! I’ll show you how to easily, quickly and successfully flip thrifted furniture on a budget, how to paint furniture, and how to change furniture hardware for a more up to date look! Kristen, you can get the back board to go on the dresser at Lowe’s and they will cut it to size for you. It helps stabilize the dresser and also helps to keep out dust and insects

This is a helpful suggestion! I didn’t know that, and my inner ‘OC’ self is uneasy knowing it doesn’t have a backing even if it’s against the wall 😅

It looks beautiful!! We should all make an effort to give a new life to old furniture. They have so much character and quite often are such better quality than a lot of shop bought things nowadays 😊

I love the transformation on this piece! That color is FABULOUS!!! I wasn't too sure about the new pulls, but once they were on.... they're PERFECTION!
I once found a sad little dresser at a yard sale for $2!!! The back was almost completely disintegrated and it was listing to one side badly. It had mismatched and missing pulls, and a tired and scratched stain finish. I cut a new back from very thin wood, attached that, removed old pulls, sanded, and painted a color called Angel Pink! I added faux vintage "glass" drawer pulls... and now I LOVE my little $2 dresser!!!

I think that dresser would looked great as raw wood, just a full sand. I use to paint everything, but now I’m loving the character that raw wood gives.

I thrifted pieces for a bedroom, and loved transforming it to what I wanted.
That looks much better. I can never find any nice furniture at thrift stores. I love the shape of the dresser. And the paint did make it more noticeable.
Great job Kristen. Twenty years ago my husband and I downsized. Our master bedroom suite was way too big to use in our much smaller bedroom. We scouted thrift stores and estate sales and found a dresser headboard night stands and small armoire. They were all the same style but different finishes. We did what you did. Primed and painted all pieces and put brushed brass hardware on them. We still have them and they still look great. Total cost was $250 including paint and hardware

Absolutely vintage level at it's peak. Amazing!!!!
I've done two dressers. It's an easy design transformation for a new look. It seems Sage is the current design trend but for my daughters room I went with teal carpeting, (nothing I could do about that; its wall to wall so it pretty much dictated my color pallette) light grey walls, white furniture and an orange accent wall with textured orange throw pillows, orange slipper chair and orange task chair for her new (white) desk. It's funky and modern and just the transformation needed for an older teen.

This was a fantastic find! And how funny is it that they marked it down after you came and looked at it! lol It turned out gorgeous. I have a dresser, that I was given, that's solid wood and has that old topper with the mirror and shelves that sits on top. It's a huge piece but I can't wait to tackle it! It's going to be a pretty big project, which can be intimidating, but you have inspired me to get going on it! Hope you are well! ~Kelly

I do Furniture repairs for a living, and I can highly appreciate the transformation you made, with the easy steps you took with this cabinet. Awesome job.
Should I use a glaze after I paint my kitchen cabinets so it doesn't chip if I need to clean it
@@helenaandrews2567 once it is not a glaze that is going to change the color of the paint, so please read up on what ever glaze you are going to use, because sometimes the glaze do not compliment or work with the paint, but if you know you're going to be careful, I don't see the need to use a glaze.

After seeing it on the dresser it's very nice, I would have never picked that color but it looks like it will go with any other color or design in the room ( no, not a designer-just a wannabe-😂)wow what a steal for $20.
