The 1.5 had a great amount of quality to it. Plenty economical and fast enough so I agree it is a shame not to see the engine continue in the facelifted generation of the Ford Puma. As for the "wet belt" failure this is not something I have heard of myself 🤔
So excited to take delivery of mine in december! Will be interested to hear your thoughts on the KW coils (especially how they compare to the previous model fixed setup) when you get to try one next month.
Getting mine in December. I currently have a Puma ST Line X. It's a shame they put 1.0l engines in them but saying that, they aren't sluggish at all. The ST is only 13bhp more than mine, which is a bit shyt.
How do you feel with ford putting the ST badge on such a small capacity engine ? When you look at previous STs I just feel this is a poor output from Ford.
I would have preferred the 1.5 staying as I felt this engine is plenty economical yet still provides enough performance. I am a big fan of suspension, tyres and brakes over power so I am excited to see what the new Handling Pack has to offer. 170ps is still plenty 😊
@@SamAustinI agree the 1.0 litre giving 170ps is great considering my 1.5 golf only had 150ps but I do think you’re gonna have to plant your foot to the floor to get that 170ps out of it and that where fuel economy will suffer. I look forward to your drive review !
@@rufdymond No I dont have to, they still make the focus st with 2.3 and the mustang with a 5l. Its weak people like you who comply and buy crappy engines.
I have the 1.5 ST Puma. It’s been in the garage twice for a clunk when changing from first to second and the last time they replaced the dual mass flywheel. Still no better and it’s going in again next week. Such a shame as I love the car and it is very strong on acceleration and handling. I think this model with the smaller engine is going to be problematic. It’s a drivers car and all this watering down just makes the whole package unappealing.
Maybe is nothing wrong with car. I have Focus ST and gearbox is always clunky. Its nothing wrong they are built like this. I dont know for sure about Puma but all Focus cars got this clunk beetwen gears
Ford have lost a opportunity of a life time with this car . Full RS with flared wheel arches . Lowered with full AwD with a Manual Gear Box . Recaro Seats and a 1.5 Hybrid around 400BHP . This car above is embarrassing 😂😂
I wish they had kept the 3 cyc 1.5 from the mk8 Fiesta ST. I think these 1.0l engines have the 'wet belt' which is prone to failure?

They have changed the wet belt for a chain now.
@@markhorton4504 yes, they have but it still has a wet belt for the oil pump so still a stupid design.
@@martinwhitaker5332There is also a wet belt for the oil pump on the 1.5

Many congratulations on your Puma ST order! For sure I will let you know on the channel and I look forward to sharing it with you all 😊

I think I like the new wheel more
1l 170 For f sake Ford put the 2.3 in it
That would be amazing to have that amount of power in such a small car 😊
The days of manufactures making cars like that are over…you just have to accept it….

Business reasons no doubt, government is on everyone's case. Tax would be pricey af..Id love the extra power but the trends..
@@Chris-hw4mq The Focus only producing for another 13 months
170ps, dropped almost a second on performance and an auto only box with no paddle shift. Better off with the 155ps ST Line X.
Round wheel will be much better for parking
The square one
I dont like the new Puzma Facelift (Especially the interior) but I love those rims
Round wheel looks strange withe the new dash but the round one will be much better to park the car
Is it still a welt belt, Ecoboom!!?
Oh no here we go

Ford should not put an ST badge on a 1 litre It’s disrespectful to the 1.5.
Another solid video, Sam. We released a portable air pump for off-road use. Can we invite you to do a review? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Original wheel looks better in my opinion.
Could remap etc..
Wheels are horrible, proper pain in the arse to clean also. No not for me at all. I'll keep my mean green fiesta st mk 8.5 . 💪

Look forward to a traffic light grand prix against this in my mk4.5 Focus ST 😂
