Stay left as far as you can. Then you climb a class 2 chute with loose scree/wild flowers/small trees. Short class 3 move at the top and bingo. Ski/slide down scree. Easiest way up and down IMO. All fun though.

Awesome attempt sir! Exactly what i did in the 1990s. I attempted 3 times. 1st time i think i did what you did: i ended up on the same section. In the middle section . Which leads away from the summit. 2nd attempt a few months later i made it to the summit. When you get near the summit you need to stop and survey. I studied the path for a good 30 minutes. Just standing still. Praying. Then for about 2 hours from that point, i did see a discernable route others had taken. There is a point where there are some trees . There's a place where you have to climb under many scrubby trees. But after the trees, it's just another 20 minutes steep climb to the summit. On my third attempt later it was relatively easy to re find the route. What took 2 hours pushing through trees on the 2nd attempt, took a mere 30 minutes on the third attempt, because, i saw where i went wrong on my second attempt. You don't need to climb under so many trees . There is an easier route. You go a little ways west. Hard to remember ...30 years ago. I got caught near where you were on that bare slope on my first attempt. It was tough eh? Count yourself blessed. I was alone and slipped and was sent on about a 30 ft slide with nothing to hold onto. At that point i thought i was gonna lose my life. So i called out to the only name who could save me : Jesus! My body then instantly stopped sliding and was i ever thankful! Nary a scratch too. I was soooo dejected , not summitting and nearly dying. But by the 3rd attempt and success, 2 successes , it was so awesome. I camped overnite at the summit. Mountain goats pester you there. Gotta be vigilant or they will pester . I watched a goat traverse a section in 20 minutes that would take a man 3 days! Hinds feet on high places. The sunrise was incomparable! Views that Vancouver , Cook, Juan De Fuca never even saw from that vantage. Hope you make it next summer . Worth it! Glory to God. Thanks for being humble enough to post this. I never dreamed i'd be able to relive my 3 attempts via this youtube. Thanks again! Yes!

Glad you liked the video. I learned of the class 2 route after this attempt... if I try this climb again, I’ll have to pick between stubbornly wanting to conquer this route or taking the more practical path.

Crazy... you were definitely I. The wrong route I am guessing. I did this one in Spring snow all the way from the parking lot and glissaded down the South side to the road and got a ride back up to my car.

That would’ve been a blast. I found out later there’s a much easier path up, but I seldom stumble upon the easy paths in life...

@@hazardsreality8832 I attempted Washington in the Cascades, but completely lost the trail about three miles up and was postholing waist-deep, so I had to admit defeat. Pound-for-pound, I'd say Mailbox (old) is the toughest, but it's not very long, so that makes up for it.

976-HIKE yea I’ve snowshoes that’s one a time or two. The Olympics Mount Washington is a scramble. 3200 feet in 1.8 miles.... man nice day out. We should be in the mountains...

Maybe it’s better in the snow.
