I like Sonya as kameo for sub, she opens up all his low combo Enders like goro but I like that Sonya automatically tracks the opponent.I like to go heavy on the low combos to set them up for overhead down the line, it’s like they gave sub the only full punishable launching overhead, rains is safe, kung lao, Johnny, even ashrah, don’t know why they chose to do sub this way
This is the same conclusion I've basically come to. I really liked playing him with Goro but the cool down just sucks so bad and the health penalty doesn't help. The only thing I dislike about Sonya is her handstand grab, it just doesn't set Sub-Zero up for very good combo potential. Goro's overhead grab on the other hand was perfect for extending combos off of pokes and regular hits instead of always using meter.
They took his f1 from 12 to 15 frames… His dmg scaling from f1,2 into deadly vapors is straight 🗑️ now…. Using 3 bars gives around 33-38% depending on the combo (w/ FB probably 41-43%) Corner combo 3 bars with Kameo and FB like 46-48% maxxx and you will struggle doing those crazy combos! They really f’d him up while every other character in the game is FAAAAR BEYOND better in dmg scaling and move set! Like if you go on my account and see from a few months back his f1,2 deadly vapors (3x) using 3 bars then b2 (1x) standing 4 FB did literature 53% lmao big big broken dmg. 1 bar with kameo was like 34-38% easy…. Let’s talk about how Liu, Kenshi, JC, Scorp, Smoke, Geras, Mileena, Baraka, Raiden and more do crazy dmg with 1-2 bars and kameo into 50-55% dmg! In general everyone is good in the game even Reptile is better than Sub…… NRS needs to give dmg scaling and f1 back to Sub at least minimum 10% and we can work it out with Kameo’s. He is my main with Reptile Baraka and Raiden but again he is literally 🚮 rn.

A fun thing I like to do with cyrax for corner pressure is to set up his bomb. All you have to do at that point is do a low/overhead mix up and special cancel into deadly vapors you can pretty much guarantee the set up for a full combo it’s kind of fun to do online. On another note if you can connect AMP deadly Vapor’s you can also guarantee Cyrax’s net to connect if time correctly. It basically grants you free bar drain 😂👌
Re: Motaro, his teleport is also notable for veing able to grab your character out of grounded hit stun. This lets players port out of hit stun between gaps in their opponent's strings or in anticipation of being hit out of their own attacks. Had a Shao Kahn pull that off on me during week 1.
I use sub zero with Sub-Zero for the projectile armor and shoulder check pressure/surprise attacks. It's not really good for optimal combos but it makes a good offensive defense. Optimal combos barely exist for him as is so it's better to chip 30% at a time with a few jabs between
With sub/scorp if you do forward LP MP then ex his ice trap then forward kameo with scorpions overhead can keep extending the stun for you to do overhead then lead it to some air kombos and then scorpions fire ball to keep that going make sure to use ice clone to keep it going I discovered that and I just blew my mind performing it
@FlashyyGaming lao or sareena. Goro is fine. If they buffed clones time it stays out up to 3 seconds instead of 1.5 sektor. Sektor would his definitive kameo. If they would fix either his damage or safety but as he stands now he doesn't function properly.

I didn’t play any of the betas so I only know full release Sub lol he still has some dirt to him though

Remember, sub zeros combo scaling goes up very fast, so the less hits, the more damage, and with sareena, you can get 39% meterless.

Sub has no low combo starter without a kameo, which pretty much kills his mixup.
Second on that. Ive been playing raiden mostly Im curious to see what you do with him online.
Still haven’t explored much of Raiden but he’s on my list!

Sonya + Sub is pretty solid! Especially if you can get the timing on his low combos with Square Wave consistent

Its Goro for me. Makes ur overhead and lows safe, and you can combo off of 3,4/b3,4.

It’s crazy how bad subs dmg is in this game, but I’ve had better luck in kombat league playing as sub, compared to raiden/baraka
I feel like not many people are as used to the Sub match up as they are Raiden & Baraka so you definitely have that edge when playing as him
