Work-life balance is super important. We must not feel guilty for making clear where the line is and sticking to that. Leave your meetings early if they overrun often; work smart and ask colleagues to share resources; email short, sweet but to the point; and remember good is good enough - perfect resources are never worth the effort taken to produce them. A well-rested and happy teacher is more likely to be a positive role model for the students. An over-worked and stressed one is better off in another job.

You made me think of my days in the classroom. I always left my class perfect for the next day whether it was a weekday or in preparation of the next week. I know that remote learning is challenging, but teachers who experienced it enhanced their skillset in so many ways and now, I believe that teachers who failed to infuse technology in the face-to-face classroom may be more open to doing it. I am a teacher educator now but I loved being a first and second grade teacher back in the day. Thank you for contributing to the best profession on Earth. 😊

I’m a guy in elementary headed into year 7 with my second student teacher, also a guy. It’s nice to have some male energy in the atmosphere 😂 From what I’m hearing, we shouldn’t be going back to fully virtual again, but still will have inconsistencies. Also I always found reading is great at the end of the day, but math is definitely great early into the day (not that we have a say in the schedule). I teach 3rd and it’s great! Have a great year!

Btw teaching in Thailand-we have had 3xxx cases and a couple dozen deaths since February. Thailand was the second country after mainland China to report cases. The country shut down its borders, anyone who has a legal work permit can return, members who have in Thailand can return but tourists r not allowed. Everyone returning needs to set fund their State Quarantine in a hotel (depending on how much U want to pay u can choose from JW Marriot, Hyatt, Hilton to cheaper versions of local brands but it ranges from USA dollar 1000-15000 for the 14 days) we wear mask everywhere every time so we have basically no local transmissions. When we returned back to school in July (normally we run Mid May-October 1 Semester 1 and Nov1-mid March semester 2) we had lots of rules in place but after 90 days in school with no local transmission lots of rules were relaxed but still mask wearing! I could never live without my morning hot ☕️ and my after ice latte!
