- A quick review of the wonderful Nikon Coolpix P7700 (and the P7800, which is the same camera + a viewfinder). It’s an amazing little camera that delivers.
I own this camera for 7 years and really like it. I use it mostly for hiking in the mountains but I also got some amazing low light concert shots using raw. It´s very robust, lightweight, versatile and delivers excellent photos.

Interesting information Good stuff beautiful image quality
only problems are: 1. the selector dial will eventually need cleaning or replacement and 2. the pop up flash mechanism will cease to operate.
can you do double exposure with it?
I really want to like this camera, but:
- 28mm wide is limiting compared to 24
- F/2-4 on a 1/1.7 inch sensor means noise is not going to be great.
- 12 megapixel, but maybe that’s ok given the zoom range.
f/2 is better than other compacts that are f/3.5 on a 1/2.3 at least, tradeoff is the wider angle. And higher MP on these small sensors is really pushing it anyway, 12mp is kinda the sweet spot.
Thanks for sharing! Are there multiple ways to charge this model’s battery? I have a usb cord but can’t find a traditional plug-in charger.
Hi,
I would recommend you to use an MH-24 charger ($5 on AliExpress). Charging with a dedicated charger is safer for both the camera and the battery.
