    Is it 280 degrees fahrenheit or celcius ?

    Is it strictly necessary to use the candy thermometer? I really want ot give this a try but I don't own one.

    I've been trying to cook honey for two days now and I can't get the honey to 250 degrees before turning a foul burnt taste and smell. I've been using thick pots, tried heating slowly, tried heating fast, stirring frequently, using some sugar water with it, but nothing seems to be helping. How are you cooking your honey to the point of browning without the foul burned smell/taste. Does your taffy taste just like honey or does the cooking process change it? Any help would be SO appreciated! Thank you!

    I did this exactly and it tastes a little burnt... could it be that I heated it to fast?

    • @YusuphYT
      @YusuphYT 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, don’t let it burn. And don’t let it heat for too long it it turns into hard candy not taffy

      I've been trying to cook honey for two days now and I can't keep it from smelling and tasting burned. I want to reach the hard crack stage but I can't even reach 250 degrees before it goes bad. I've been using thick pots, tried heating slowly, tried heating fast, stirring frequently, using some sugar water with it, but nothing seems to be helping. Did you ever figure out how to cook it without burning?

    Isn't harmful to heat honey?

    • @frenciela7526
      @frenciela7526 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Katie Mo as far as i know, heating honey is not harmful, but heating above certain level of temperature would “kill” the antibiotic properties of honey, so it isn’t as beneficial to the body as before heated
