Great reaction. Keep in mind that Floor was just a temporary singer at this point of time and none of the songs was written for her. But in my opinion she made them more interesting with her emotional, growly and operatic singing style. Most of the songs are in my personal opinion better when Floor sings them. Ghost Love Score was song 13 of 15 during that show.
Not quite, she knew before she went on stage for the Wacken show that she had the full time job and had accepted but they hadn't announced it to the world yet! I think that is part of the magic and joy of this show as it was her first time as a full member of Nightwish and it shows in all the band members and the performances on the night. It was a gigantic celebration 🤣

@ yeah they discussed it in an interview when asked about when Floor officially became part of the group. Announcement as you say in October but Floor was asked and accepted before Wacken. From memory it was both her and Troy that gained full membership together.
This entire 2013 Wacken show is a masterpiece. The performance, the stage setup, the audio mix, the visual editing. I suggest just buying the DVD and enjoying the whole concert.
Floor has that impact on everyone new or familiar to her,i have actually crushed on her twice (first time i didnt even know her,the bands or the songs name until many years later,it was After Forever - Energize Me) And second time was her coming in on her first big official concert at Wacken after agreeing to becoming theyr permanent vocalist. Soo many people that cried theyr hearts out on her final substitute vocalist concert,hoped and prayed for her to come in permanently. Floor felt the insane amount of love and teared up from it too,i think she knew she had to come back at some point. She was meant to be in Nightwish! Her entrance in even made Troy go like: "Guys,i will finally join you permanently too!". He worked with both the former vocalists in Nightwish,but he just vibed with Floor from the first minutes with her,hearing her perform. Talking to her etc. EDIT: When i thought more closely over Troys time in Nightwish,i dont think he worked actively in Nightwish while Tarja was there,but i remember from interviews that he followed the band closely,and he did not like Tarja very much personally. He said that he thought she was a really good singer,but he did not like her behaviour together with the other guys,so something tells me he either followed them closely even while on tour,or he and Tuomas already had a dialogue going about him helping out on albums and such,that they basically had a connection and a verbal agreement already back then. Because he was very up to date with things happening in Nightwish,also while Tarja was still a member. All this might have changed today,as Tarja and the guys are finally on speaking terms again,the hatchet is buried so to speak. So im sure every member has moved on,and that theyr general view on Tarja is better. I think most understood the position she was in at the time,the person they were really angry at was her husband and manager,Marcelo. He pretty much brainwashed her at one point,and pulled Tarja away from the band.
Troy joins the band as a touring musician in 2007, after Tarja. Before that he wasn't interested in metal because he was in folk full time and he grew up there. He could have first met Tarja at joint festivals.

Floor is one of the most charismatic performers I have ever seen live. She is right up there with David Bowie. I would imagine that Freddie Mercury is in that group as well, but never got to see him. And make no mistake, Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon, the first two NW singers in that order are also amazing and contributed greatly to the success of the band. They each have their own place in its history and they each have songs that are best suited to them.

Classical singing uses head voice. A specific area of classical singing is opera. Head voice is always used. That's why people think it's the same thing. Another genre that uses the head voice is Irish folk music such as Celtic Woman.
The song that made me fall in love with Nightwish. This performance is unbelievable to me. You can feel the energy ten years later coming through the screen on a YT video. One of my favorite songs of theirs. Love the chorus. Love her classical part in the middle. So amazing. I decided I had to go see them live because of this song and I am glad I did! You're right about her presence too. It's a real thing. In person, she commands your attention on stage, in a good way, and clearly loves being up there. We are lucky to have her.
Yes that full on Operatic vocals starting out w/ her head voice is SO good!!! Then she switches back to a belting rock voice!!! And that final note, OMG!!!!!
Floor always brings her own style to the songs written for others singers and that works very well. She seems a bit shy in interviews but when she sings and is on stage, that's when she reveals herself and can express herself freely. That's what I feel anyway.

Hello to both of you. This was another great reaction to our beloved Nightwish with Floor on lead vocals. Nightwish is the rare band whose live performances are even better than their studio productions. Loved it and keep the Nightwish reactions coming.
Storytime is my favourite Nightwish song, it’s not originally a Floor Jansen song as it appears on the Imaginaerum album with Anette Olzen who was the singer at the time but Floor as she has done with many of the older songs made it her own. Floor Jansen was always destined for greatness right from the start when she became the singer of her first band After Forever and when she joined Nightwish it was her finally achieving her destiny and reaching an audience that a singer of her immense talent deserves. If you really want a Floor Jansen goosebumps moment then you need to check out Shoemaker, especially the ending which is truly mind blowing.

Watch Beste Zangers 2019 and watch Vilja Lied. It's before the other participants knew what she sang like. There's a part that will probably blow your socks off. It's a great show and she sings several during the course of it. Even if you don't react, watch it. You won't regret it.
She really is born for this. When she grew up she had a bit of a hard time fitting in. And when she was like 15 she was in a school performance and she sang on stage for the first time. And her parents said in a documentary that they saw a whole new daughter. And this atill holds true today. Every time I see and interview with her I feel like the person talking is so different from her stage persona. In stage she is this unobtainable godess who is completely awe inspiring. And off stage she is this sweet woman who is so down to earth, humble and so approachable. And you really should see the documentary im talking about. Its a dutch TV show that makes famous people look back at their time growing up in the setting if a high school reunion.
Hello I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Well, as keyboard player, Tuomas said in an interview, when Floor joined them on the tour in 2012 and saw how things were falling into place, the vibes, the love, the fans acceptance of Floor, and the unbreakable bond that grew within the band and Floor, he said... "It became quite clear and there was no mistake about it.... she's home." This Wacken show on August 3rd 2013 was only 10 months after her debut with the band on October 1st 2012 in Seattle, Washington. She was already a permanent member. "Floor Day" was yesterday, March 24th, as we celebrate the release of her very first solo album, "Paragon". She released 6 singles leading up to the release date; Fire Storm Me Without You Invincible Daydream and My Paragon Her style is very different from what you've heard from her but all the songs have a very positive message and, in my opinion, are all great songs musically. Your pronounciations were perfect. Also Floor's music is more Pop'ish because she realized this singing songs on the Beste Zangers ( The Best Singers ) which were different then Metal. I would suggest check out some of Beste Zangers, Floor's Cover songs she did during Covid lockdowns in her own recording studio at home as well as her latest album. Thank you.

Greetings from Utah! 🤘 You mentioned that Nightwish know how to "fill out" a song. I agree. Somehow, their songs always sound "big". I think much of this comes from the underlying keyboard playing of Tuomas and the backing tracks that he composes, has pre-recorded using professional classical musicians, and controls through his keyboard. Often, this foundation goes unnoticed due to the spectacular talent of the rest of the band, but it is a primary contributor to their "signature" sound. The children's choir part that plays by itself for a few seconds before Jukka's drum solo, the "chanting" croud, and Floor's opera part actually comes in before Floor stops singing and continues to the end. And though you/I/we may not be able to specifically pick out all the audio contributions that Tuomas is making during every performance, we know he is making them as the camera shows him playing his heart out. I suspect the only way to notice all his contributions is for them to be absent.

Hello @Killermcknight Nightwish Army Italian Division here. I've been a fan of Nightwish more or less since 2000 and I can tell you that the first singer and co-founder of the band was the finnish Tarja Turunen, after Tarja came the swedish Anette Olzon and after Anette came the dutch Floor jansen. Tarja is a classic soprano, Anette has a pop rock voice and Floor is the most versatile of them, she can really sing what she wants, how she wants and when she wants, Floor can even sing the phone list effortlessly* lol*
The chanting is mostly done by two choirs(one adult and the other children). In some parts of the song, it is the crowd. And yes, at some stage check out floor's solo channel, some fantastic songs there. She was also on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers, it's not a singer competition. Just different artist that have to sing a song for another artist. One of Floor's idols is on the show, and floor and him do a duet(Phantom of the Opera), Nightwish also recently had Henk do the duet with Floor live on stage. He also does The Sound of Silence for her. She fan girls so bad(it's gorgeous). Look forward to more reaction from you guys.
@killermcknight Yes, you need to do Phantom of the Opera.. There are at least 3 choices, Beste Zangers, or with Nightwish Tarja and Marco, or Nightwish with Floor and Henk Poort, or, best case, all 3! you won't be disappointed!
Tarja (TAR-ee-ah) was the first and original NW singer. She left the band in 2005 and was replaced by Annette. In late 2012 Annette was let go and Floor joined as a temporary replacement. She was officially made a permanent member of NW, along with Troy, shortly after the Waken show.
Great reaction, proper floorgasms for you both. As for recommendations, you honestly cannot go wrong with Gabriel's list. There are more up to date recordings but the ones on that list are mostly the best out there and more recent ones won't have Jukka (Drums) or Marco (Bass) in them and missing these two guys influence and performances would do a disservice to the band, so for your first reactions I sincerely recommend Gabriel Bardac's post with links. Storytime was written for the pop singer Anette. She didn't sing the opera chorus at the end. Ghost Love Score was written for the opera singer Tarja, but the original slowly fades away at the end. Floor composed the increase to it. When Tuomas composes something for Floor, it sounds like this: NIGHTWISH - Shoemaker (Official Lyric Video) Floor's solo album is a pop album. @Killermcknight: I don't know who said Ghost Love Score was the last song of the set, but they are incorrect. Ghost Love Score actually was the #13 of 15 songs. In Wacken 2013, the two songs that come after Ghost Love Score are Amaranth and then, appropriately enough, Last Ride of the Day. Incidentally, it wasn't until the last part of Last Ride of the Day when you have any indication Floor is even fatigued, and that's only because of the smoke from the pyros becomes a bit much. But yes -- Floor does have a lot of stamina. And small wonder: This woman takes phenomenal care of her voice. Here it is 2023, and her voice is just as good in Phantom of the Opera as it is in Ghost Love Score. Just as clear, just as precise now, as it was then.
OK you two, get a room... talkin' 'bout your Floorgasms in public, in front of the kids, lol. Yeah, NW songs tend to turn on their transitions, and this is the protoypical spine-twister. - the intro-riff is both driving and ominous - the chorus is catchy as hell. - iconic LyricMetal - drum section rolls out of the catchy chorus, into a crowd-pumping call-to-action, and dumps straight into Floor's Classical-based Leading the Flight of The Valkyries. For the crowd, they've gone from "YEah, we're with you" to "Whoa, is THIS What we're a part of?? ... LET'S GO !!" ... or something like that... that's the closest I can put it into words. It's all in the Feels with this band.
Tarja Turunen ("Tar-ee-ya") was the original singer. Anette Olzon was the second singer. I would recommend either "Romanticide" or "Ghost River" next, both are real firecrackers.

Ah, the congregated McKnights ! Permit me to help a little, if you would. Tuomas Holopainen does not ever waste any notes, lyrics or even backdrop visuals for that matter, as fillers or embellishments, it's all there for a reason and occasionally his metaphorical lyrics are impenetrable, but digging into the lyrics can be another bite of the cherry. Tuomas writes from observation and experiences, the lyrics are not made-up rhymes but convey a real meaning. He has some well used pseudonyms for himself in lyrics sometimes with references thereto, so when you have boy, poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul in a lyric, it is Tuomas referencing himself. Remember this well as you go on the Nightwish journey; boy especially, or even oblique references thereto, he says he's a man with a boy's heart. So what have you here ? "A writer by a fire" - Tuomas and letting his mind wander to all the amazing and imagined things of childhood - "took a journey into a child-man's heart", but he is still the story teller and being a grown up Peter Pan, the crib of Peter Pan is therefore empty. Now look at all the lyrics again knowing this and it makes sense. Innocence. . . . . . . .A high head voice from Floor, refers to the high voice of a very young, innocent and excited small child. Tuomas is your story teller !
Marco the bassist also has a magnificent voice. I know you’ve reacted to ‘Master Passion Greed’ already, but if you’d like to see more of his range, check out ‘Everdream’ from the Wacken show and ‘The Islander’ from the live show at Tampere. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I really had a great laugh when you paused the video and mentioned the operatic part of Ghost Love Score, because I knew what was coming, If you like crowd interaction, then Amaranth of the same concert is a fun one to watch. If you want to check more range, then Romanticide of the same concert is a fun one. Then a tiny correction, Ghost Love Score was not the last song of the concert, it was number 13 of the 15. After Ghost Love Score there was Song Of Myself and as last one was Last Ride Of The Day, both great song to react to. I like to think with Song Of Myself the first part is building energy, you will be needing in the second part to headbang. If you want more range stuff from Floor, check out Yours Is An Empty Hope (Wembly Arena 2015). Floor's solo work is also awesome, but do not expect it to be metal. We fans like to call this genre 'Floor', because we think it is a genre in its own. Then something completely different, maybe you should check out a real close friend of Floor, also a Dutch powerhouse, she is called Simone Simons, one of the lead singer of the band Epica. Ghost love score was third to last, she sang a ton before and continued to sing afterwards. She's a vocal coach so she knows how to look after her own stamina
Tarja Turunen was first singer and sang predominantly in an operatic style so Ghost Love Score was originally written for her. The second singer was a pop singer called Anette Olzon and this was one of her songs except she couldn't sing the operatic middle piece. Actually Ghost Love Score was number 13 of 15. Ended with Last Ride of the Day. For another heavier number try Romanticide at this same concert.

First....Ghost Love score was nr. 13 of 15 songs. And believe you me, Floor's power was even higher at the last song "Last Ride of the Day" !!! This is our Valkyrie Goddess for you. And you are CORRECT !!!! You Guys witnessed first hand a "Dutch Windmill" , and to finish you off, The Operatic "Cruise Missile" !!!! Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bullwhip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch. Awesome tune , and you are correct again, it IS kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit". Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straightforward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this. And yes, Like Tuomas said : "She is at home, she really is at home"!!!! NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘.

Great reaction. Keep in mind that Floor was just a temporary singer at this point of time and none of the songs was written for her. But in my opinion she made them more interesting with her emotional, growly and operatic singing style. Most of the songs are in my personal opinion better when Floor sings them.
Ghost Love Score was song 13 of 15 during that show.
Not quite, she knew before she went on stage for the Wacken show that she had the full time job and had accepted but they hadn't announced it to the world yet! I think that is part of the magic and joy of this show as it was her first time as a full member of Nightwish and it shows in all the band members and the performances on the night. It was a gigantic celebration 🤣

@ yeah they discussed it in an interview when asked about when Floor officially became part of the group. Announcement as you say in October but Floor was asked and accepted before Wacken. From memory it was both her and Troy that gained full membership together.
This entire 2013 Wacken show is a masterpiece. The performance, the stage setup, the audio mix, the visual editing. I suggest just buying the DVD and enjoying the whole concert.

Floor has that impact on everyone new or familiar to her,i have actually crushed on her twice (first time i didnt even know her,the bands or the songs name until many years later,it was After Forever - Energize Me) And second time was her coming in on her first big official concert at Wacken after agreeing to becoming theyr permanent vocalist. Soo many people that cried theyr hearts out on her final substitute vocalist concert,hoped and prayed for her to come in permanently. Floor felt the insane amount of love and teared up from it too,i think she knew she had to come back at some point. She was meant to be in Nightwish! Her entrance in even made Troy go like: "Guys,i will finally join you permanently too!". He worked with both the former vocalists in Nightwish,but he just vibed with Floor from the first minutes with her,hearing her perform. Talking to her etc.
EDIT: When i thought more closely over Troys time in Nightwish,i dont think he worked actively in Nightwish while Tarja was there,but i remember from interviews that he followed the band closely,and he did not like Tarja very much personally. He said that he thought she was a really good singer,but he did not like her behaviour together with the other guys,so something tells me he either followed them closely even while on tour,or he and Tuomas already had a dialogue going about him helping out on albums and such,that they basically had a connection and a verbal agreement already back then. Because he was very up to date with things happening in Nightwish,also while Tarja was still a member.
All this might have changed today,as Tarja and the guys are finally on speaking terms again,the hatchet is buried so to speak. So im sure every member has moved on,and that theyr general view on Tarja is better. I think most understood the position she was in at the time,the person they were really angry at was her husband and manager,Marcelo. He pretty much brainwashed her at one point,and pulled Tarja away from the band.
Troy joins the band as a touring musician in 2007, after Tarja. Before that he wasn't interested in metal because he was in folk full time and he grew up there. He could have first met Tarja at joint festivals.
82000 here this night. Going down the NW rabbit hole, there's no going back! Every song this concert killer! It's hard to believe Floor had only been in the band 10 months here. Ghost love score was song 13 of 15. If ya'll want to see a modern NW, check out hellfest 2022.

Floor is one of the most charismatic performers I have ever seen live. She is right up there with David Bowie. I would imagine that Freddie Mercury is in that group as well, but never got to see him. And make no mistake, Tarja Turunen and Anette Olzon, the first two NW singers in that order are also amazing and contributed greatly to the success of the band. They each have their own place in its history and they each have songs that are best suited to them.

The song that made me fall in love with Nightwish. This performance is unbelievable to me. You can feel the energy ten years later coming through the screen on a YT video. One of my favorite songs of theirs. Love the chorus. Love her classical part in the middle. So amazing. I decided I had to go see them live because of this song and I am glad I did! You're right about her presence too. It's a real thing. In person, she commands your attention on stage, in a good way, and clearly loves being up there. We are lucky to have her.

Floor always brings her own style to the songs written for others singers and that works very well. She seems a bit shy in interviews but when she sings and is on stage, that's when she reveals herself and can express herself freely.

Storytime is my favourite Nightwish song, it’s not originally a Floor Jansen song as it appears on the Imaginaerum album with Anette Olzen who was the singer at the time but Floor as she has done with many of the older songs made it her own.
Floor Jansen was always destined for greatness right from the start when she became the singer of her first band After Forever and when she joined Nightwish it was her finally achieving her destiny and reaching an audience that a singer of her immense talent deserves.
If you really want a Floor Jansen goosebumps moment then you need to check out Shoemaker, especially the ending which is truly mind blowing.

Watch Beste Zangers 2019 and watch Vilja Lied. It's before the other participants knew what she sang like. There's a part that will probably blow your socks off. It's a great show and she sings several during the course of it. Even if you don't react, watch it. You won't regret it.
The full body chill you experienced is called a Floorgasm. I have a feeling it won't be your last.
She really is born for this. When she grew up she had a bit of a hard time fitting in. And when she was like 15 she was in a school performance and she sang on stage for the first time. And her parents said in a documentary that they saw a whole new daughter. And this atill holds true today. Every time I see and interview with her I feel like the person talking is so different from her stage persona. In stage she is this unobtainable godess who is completely awe inspiring. And off stage she is this sweet woman who is so down to earth, humble and so approachable.
And you really should see the documentary im talking about. Its a dutch TV show that makes famous people look back at their time growing up in the setting if a high school reunion.

I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here.
She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter. ( Freja )
Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish.
Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016.
From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020.

Well, as keyboard player, Tuomas said in an interview, when Floor joined them on the tour in 2012 and saw how things were falling into place, the vibes, the love, the fans acceptance of Floor, and the unbreakable bond that grew within the band and Floor, he said...
"It became quite clear and there was no mistake about it.... she's home."
This Wacken show on August 3rd 2013 was only 10 months after her debut with the band on October 1st 2012 in Seattle, Washington. She was already a permanent member.
"Floor Day" was yesterday, March 24th, as we celebrate the release of her very first solo album, "Paragon".

Your pronounciations were perfect. Also Floor's music is more Pop'ish because she realized this singing songs on the Beste Zangers ( The Best Singers ) which were different then Metal. I would suggest check out some of Beste Zangers, Floor's Cover songs she did during Covid lockdowns in her own recording studio at home as well as her latest album. Thank you.

You mentioned that Nightwish know how to "fill out" a song. I agree. Somehow, their songs always sound "big". I think much of this comes from the underlying keyboard playing of Tuomas and the backing tracks that he composes, has pre-recorded using professional classical musicians, and controls through his keyboard. Often, this foundation goes unnoticed due to the spectacular talent of the rest of the band, but it is a primary contributor to their "signature" sound.
The children's choir part that plays by itself for a few seconds before Jukka's drum solo, the "chanting" croud, and Floor's opera part actually comes in before Floor stops singing and continues to the end. And though you/I/we may not be able to specifically pick out all the audio contributions that Tuomas is making during every performance, we know he is making them as the camera shows him playing his heart out. I suspect the only way to notice all his contributions is for them to be absent.

Hello @Killermcknight Nightwish Army Italian Division here. I've been a fan of Nightwish more or less since 2000 and I can tell you that the first singer and co-founder of the band was the finnish Tarja Turunen, after Tarja came the swedish Anette Olzon and after Anette came the dutch Floor jansen. Tarja is a classic soprano, Anette has a pop rock voice and Floor is the most versatile of them, she can really sing what she wants, how she wants and when she wants, Floor can even sing the phone list effortlessly* lol*
Ghost Love Score was NOT the last song in the set at Wacken, she sang a few more after GLS. Floor is the queen.
The chanting is mostly done by two choirs(one adult and the other children). In some parts of the song, it is the crowd. And yes, at some stage check out floor's solo channel, some fantastic songs there. She was also on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers, it's not a singer competition. Just different artist that have to sing a song for another artist. One of Floor's idols is on the show, and floor and him do a duet(Phantom of the Opera), Nightwish also recently had Henk do the duet with Floor live on stage. He also does The Sound of Silence for her. She fan girls so bad(it's gorgeous). Look forward to more reaction from you guys.

Tarja (TAR-ee-ah) was the first and original NW singer. She left the band in 2005 and was replaced by Annette. In late 2012 Annette was let go and Floor joined as a temporary replacement. She was officially made a permanent member of NW, along with Troy, shortly after the Waken show.
Great reaction, proper floorgasms for you both. As for recommendations, you honestly cannot go wrong with Gabriel's list.
There are more up to date recordings but the ones on that list are mostly the best out there and more recent ones won't have Jukka (Drums) or Marco (Bass) in them and missing these two guys influence and performances would do a disservice to the band, so for your first reactions I sincerely recommend Gabriel Bardac's post with links.

Storytime was written for the pop singer Anette. She didn't sing the opera chorus at the end. Ghost Love Score was written for the opera singer Tarja, but the original slowly fades away at the end. Floor composed the increase to it. When Tuomas composes something for Floor, it sounds like this:

Ghost Love Score actually was the #13 of 15 songs. In Wacken 2013, the two songs that come after Ghost Love Score are Amaranth and then, appropriately enough, Last Ride of the Day. Incidentally, it wasn't until the last part of Last Ride of the Day when you have any indication Floor is even fatigued, and that's only because of the smoke from the pyros becomes a bit much.
But yes -- Floor does have a lot of stamina. And small wonder: This woman takes phenomenal care of her voice. Here it is 2023, and her voice is just as good in Phantom of the Opera as it is in Ghost Love Score. Just as clear, just as precise now, as it was then.
OK you two, get a room... talkin' 'bout your Floorgasms in public, in front of the kids, lol.
Yeah, NW songs tend to turn on their transitions, and this is the protoypical spine-twister.

- drum section rolls out of the catchy chorus, into a crowd-pumping call-to-action, and dumps straight into Floor's Classical-based Leading the Flight of The Valkyries. For the crowd, they've gone from "YEah, we're with you" to "Whoa, is THIS What we're a part of?? ... LET'S GO !!"

Tuomas Holopainen does not ever waste any notes, lyrics or even backdrop visuals for that matter, as fillers or embellishments, it's all there for a reason and occasionally his metaphorical lyrics are impenetrable, but digging into the lyrics can be another bite of the cherry.
Tuomas writes from observation and experiences, the lyrics are not made-up rhymes but convey a real meaning. He has some well used pseudonyms for himself in lyrics sometimes with references thereto, so when you have boy, poet, dreamer, writer/song writer or ocean soul in a lyric, it is Tuomas referencing himself.
Remember this well as you go on the Nightwish journey; boy especially, or even oblique references thereto, he says he's a man with a boy's heart.
So what have you here ?
"A writer by a fire" - Tuomas and letting his mind wander to all the amazing and imagined things of childhood - "took a journey into a child-man's heart", but he is still the story teller and being a grown up Peter Pan, the crib of Peter Pan is therefore empty.
Now look at all the lyrics again knowing this and it makes sense.
Innocence. . . . . . . .A high head voice from Floor, refers to the high voice of a very young, innocent and excited small child.
Tuomas is your story teller !

If you like crowd interaction, then Amaranth of the same concert is a fun one to watch. If you want to check more range, then Romanticide of the same concert is a fun one.
Then a tiny correction, Ghost Love Score was not the last song of the concert, it was number 13 of the 15. After Ghost Love Score there was Song Of Myself and as last one was Last Ride Of The Day, both great song to react to. I like to think with Song Of Myself the first part is building energy, you will be needing in the second part to headbang.

Ghost love score was third to last, she sang a ton before and continued to sing afterwards. She's a vocal coach so she knows how to look after her own stamina
Tarja Turunen was first singer and sang predominantly in an operatic style so Ghost Love Score was originally written for her. The second singer was a pop singer called Anette Olzon and this was one of her songs except she couldn't sing the operatic middle piece. Actually Ghost Love Score was number 13 of 15. Ended with Last Ride of the Day. For another heavier number try Romanticide at this same concert.

Floor has 3 distinct styles. Head banging(straight forward, then back), hair whip(almost like cracking a bullwhip) and the Windmill(continuous 360 degree revolutions). Why Windmill? Well she is Dutch.
Awesome tune , and you are correct again, it IS kind of a popish sound (originally sung by Anette, the second singer of Nightwish), but Floor gave it soooo much POWER !!! Including this "Operatic" part, what was originally done by children's choir because vocal limitations on their second singer (Great singer also, I might add), but Floor has none of that "Limit".
Nightwish lyrics are often a bit interpretive, and not as "straightforward" as many other bands, because Tuomas ( The Metal Mozart Tuomas Holopainen: founder, leader, keyboardist, songwriter and the main composer for Nightwish.) prefers people to put their own interpretations and life experiences into the lyrics. you connect with songs on a personal level when there is something there that relates to things you have gone/are going through, and you may even find new connections later on in life when you have gone through other big events/emotions. there might be songs you are quite indifferent about (oh, nice song) and then you go through something big and all of a sudden it makes you break down in tears because now you relate to something in the lyrics you didn't before, and see it from a whole new perspective. imagination and life experiences are powerful, and Tuomas has great appreciation of this.
And yes, Like Tuomas said : "She is at home, she really is at home"!!!!
