The Battlefield Line 'Winter Warmer Gala' - 3rd Feb 2024

On a particularly windy February weekend, the Battlefield Line revived their 'Winter Warmer Gala' for 2024. A railway much over looked for many reasons, it was good to explore this heart of England back water.
Not having an event of this scale since pre-covid times, the line had three locos in steam with a full line service and shuttle service in action. One of the main attractions was the pairing of hired in GWR Large Prairies, 4144 & 5199. The latter having been at the railway since the autumn for their festive trains.
Star attraction however was former resident BR Standard 2MT 78018, visiting from its base at the Great Central Railway. The loco was last seen on the line in the 1980's still in ex-Barry scrapyard condition, and it was a welcomed return to the line having been sold many years ago.

Lovely video, although 78018 is actually owned by the Darlington Railway Preservation Society and is only on long-term loan to the GCR. Hope this helps.
