Y'all talking about his grandparents and the flour sack aprons and just made cry tears of joy. I was thinking of my grandparents they were the same as y'all. Thank you for sharing your stories and recipes love y'all and God bless y'all. I am so glad that i came across you
Now THAT is some SERIOUS cat head biscuits! I see me waiting for everyone to eat then tearing my biscuit and putting right in that pan of gravy 🤪 I’m in love with your napkins and aprons! What a beautiful way to bring both families to one! Your mom did an amazing labor of love in making those. How sweet to have those memories right there each day. Thank you for sharing that history ❤💜
Such a great idea your mom had to keep the fireplace, I bet your husband appreciates seeing it. The aprons and napkins are so nice - glad you were able to salvage some of the material. My mom used to make my sister and I dresses from feed sacks. I wish I would have kept, but you don’t think about it then. The biscuits are some kinda good looking, know you are happy he paid attention to his papaw!
Laurie you are so right girl. We don't think about how precious things will be in the future especially when we are young. Thank you for sharing that with me about your Mom making you and your sister dresses with feed sacks. 😊💜💜💜💜
Oh my goodness. I'm from the south. Raised in Los Angeles. You made me want biscuits and gravy soooooo bad! I could almost taste them thru my screen. And I know that gravy must have smelled delicious through the house. Happy holidays and many blessings for you both.
Europe sounds wonderful! I love to go every chance I get. Was fortunate to go to England and Scotland October 2022. It’s time for another adventure. Be safe!!!
My daddy always did biscuits like that and called them drop biscuits (since you drop them in the pan! 😂. Those looks wonderful. My Nanny would put butter and sorghum syrup on hers.
Mr.John M.your papaw cat head biscuits look like how my Grandda Scottish for grandpa or papaw taught me to fix your look so delicious wish i could reach through the camera for one also great hot butter with fresh grown honey or even cane molasses 😊
This was an awesome video! I’m from Maine so I just love hearing you and John talk. I came down south for a visit last year and everyone said they loved my accent. I always thought that you all had the accent but apparently it was me. LOL. Merry Christmas from Maine. Thank you so very much for sharing your stories and family traditions with us.
Yum. I've heard people call that chocolate gravy these days like it is something new 😄. But I know it's been around for years and your granny making it is proof of just that. Sounds delicious!
I was thinking the same thing. Getting Hungry. John and Amy you have a beautiful place I can tell there’s been a lot of blood, Sweat & Tears keeping it looking so beautiful. Wishing you and your Family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!
Blood sweat and tears. Girl you nailed it. We have worked fro years to get to this point but I'm thankful for every bit of it. Thank you for your encouragement
Wow…. Have heard of water gravy, never seen it made. Except for red eye gravy made with ham drippings. I always use sweet milk. But I will try the water. Yes,I got tears in my eyes when you talked about Johns granddaddy. What a wonderful childhood. How blessed to own the property and raise your children there. The story of John and his friends coming in and grabbing a biscuit is precious. The place where I was born, and the other place that I spent my youngest years are both gone. Coal mining tore through SW Indiana (before they were forced to “reclaim” the land) and left huge gaping holes, with deep water pits and steep high walls that dropped straight down for up to 500 ft. The once beautiful land was forever scarred. I live on 3 acres of that land and have 2 high walls that go straight down. But anyway I grieve about my childhood homes and guess I always will. God bless you both and your kids and grandkids. Merry Christmas and have a safe trip❤️❤️❤️❤️ Had to come back…. The beautiful napkins brought tears to my eyes AGAIN lol. All of my night gowns and pajamas were made of flour sacks. Dish towels too. Lord,I so miss those days. Thank you Amy and John for making this lonely old day, special for this old woman💖💖💖 May our Lord bless you abundantly.
Oh my goodness. I'm just reasinf your sweet comment. And all your memories. John is so very fortunate to be living right were he grew up still. I moved from out of town. My parents moved and built home after home like gypsies. We kids hated moving so much. John is the polar opposite of how I grew up. Both our boys were raised in this same spot. I told myself I wasn't gonna move them all over Cobb county. Lol. I hate your childhood town is so devastated. Hodl on to the memories. My grandparents home that I spent lots of time at was torn down to be replaced by and oil changing station. It looks like my childhood was erased from my hometown. 😅 So I know a little about how you feel. I bet your night gowns make from flower sacks were precious.
Those biscuits are like my Mom’s and mine….huge and delicious ❣️ I make my gravy like John does except mine is a little thicker. This has made me hungry❣️❣️ Merry Christmas ❣️🎄❣️
U guys are so sweet u remind me of me and my husband we will be married 25 years in may but together for 30 years he don’t cook tho lol merry Christmas to u and your family 💜💜💜💜

I never could make my moms. She’s been gone 10 years, and so I’m missing her, and her Cat heads.
Awe. I'm so sorry. Glad you have those cat head memories. It took John several tries to get it right.

How much baking soda

He doesn't cut shortening into his flour? Most recipes calls for shortening or a fat cut into it.
The gravy look like sawmill gravy but it made with milk😊
Maybe next time you video, keep it level and still instead of up so high and moving all over.
