Big part of his success on defense comes from how physically strong he is. When guys get into his body they lose their balance and he doesn't budge lol.
The passing flashes on this video REALLY pop. That boosts him. The lack of perimeter defense in this video is troubling - he’s not going to be roaming & protecting paint in the NBA nearly as much as he will be guarding 2-4
I don't get caught up in size as much as most people do. But I do think that in this particular case... being 6'7 really is detriment to him as a prospect. Because it's the size + the his style of play. Hes nice tho
Me too. Wish we could see how that jumpers coming along though. I don’t even think he’s attempted more than 5 3pt this season. Love the uniqueness of his skill set.
Would you rather have CMB or an Ivisic brother? CMB or Kalkbrenner? CMB or Karaban? CMB or Mgbako? CMB or Zikarsky? CMB or Grunloh? CMB or Markovic? CMB or Yang? CMB or Wolf? CMB or Fleming? CMB or Rataj? with a good freshmen class this year and some depth everywhere likely in the draft, CMB to me hasn't done so far what he needs to do to improve his stock. What is he compared to the prospects mentioned? Is CMB a small 5 or a bully ball 4 at the next level? How will that translate and should he be picked ahead of the prospects mentioned? Because we can forget him being better than Sorber or Queen... and the guys mentioned may or may not be ranked higher on boards, but they'd have more of a definitive role in the league. Idk, if CMB ends up like Anthony Mason - that could be a good pick. His growth hasn't quite come around as fast as I have hoped though.
@@poloregal Top 10??? Sounds like you're going by outdated big boards and not watching games or figuring out how translation works at the next level or something... Doubt he's in the lottery. Depending on who declares, he could flirt with the 2nd round.
@@norrinradd542As a huge fan of this kid and the tools he brings to the table, I gotta agree. He hasn’t shown the growth I would’ve hoped for from the perimeter in his game and at 6’7 the proposition of using a lottery pick on an undersized power forward is fraught to say the least. I LOVE his feel for the game, his defence and interior scoring, but without a perimeter shot I can’t see teams drafting him over talent like Flemings and others.
@@poloregal he’s a late lottery pick IF the shot starts falling convincingly from deep. As a fan of his game, I’ve been waiting patiently since last season for him to take a leap in developing a jumper. He doesn’t even attempt shooting from deep most games. As much as I’d love to pull the trigger on drafting him in the first if I was a GM; a 6’7 power forward with NO perimeter game is a very risky proposition that I might not be willing to bet my job on. Some team in the latter half of the first round is going to get an incredible connector and paint protector though…
@@dillamadukes21I agree with you and I think 1. Teams are starting to value guys who have a guaranteed role and his energy getting out on those hedges and back is pretty elite and after the top 20 all contending teams will value his defense and finishing enough and enough 5s stretch the floor in todays game but also 2. Workouts will be huge for him. All it takes is 1 workout that he gets hot in and his FT% or form isn’t horrible so it’s very possible and then ends up late lotto. Any higher yea prolly can’t happen cuz the freshman too loaded but this kids gonna help a team win
He moves literally like Draymond on defense 7:02

Alley opp at 0:17 is so nice

really love how he does his work early in the paint

Julius Randle play-style but weirdly enough I see some DaRon Holmes too (robotic-like footwork)

CMB is a top 10 pick. Be lucky he’s still getting used to himself. Had he not gotten sick it would be different
