FYI...it's illegal to put anything other than stamped mail in a mailbox. I learned this when I sold Avon. We were warned to NOT put our booklets in the mailbox.

Up to $5,000 fine for an individual and $10,000 for a business. I looked it up when my neighbor threw a nasty, bossy note into my mailbox.

If I had a MIL like that I’d be telling her I’m not married to her and for to mind her own business. If she kept treating me like that I’d literally cut ties with her 😖

Who in their right mind would want to go on a honeymoon with their in-laws? If you don’t want them to come along then don’t tell them your plans. They’re boundaries you do not cross. Honeymoons should be decided by the newlyweds not other relatives. If Regina wants to go on a trip, then she should plan and pay for it herself. Just don’t tell her where you’re going or tell her a different destination than yours. Just a suggestion.

If she was a good mother, she would have taught Jason to cook and clean

If Regina wants her to be more polite, perhaps she needs to set a proper example.

You DO NOT have to clean house everyday the way Regina means.
You straighten up, do dishes, empty trash. But with only two people in house, if they pick up after themselves, the other chores can be done on a rough schedule depending on need. You don't need to scrub floors or do laundry daily, and you don't have to entertain people unless YOU invite them. No drop in inspections by inlaws allowed!

In a Japanese washing machine, they are very, very small. They do the washing and most hang out to dry either in the house somewhere or out on the veranda.

What is all this talk about the duties of wife, but nothing about the duties of a husband? It shouldn't just fall on one partner to cater to the other.

Japanese culture. Not as prevalent in the modern cities but still a way of life outside of them.
It’s strictly adhered to in the countryside.

Girl, Regina doesn't know how to be a wife herself, she doesn't work, adapting to his taste wrong. Just because she married and raised a child(ren) doesn't mean her she can be a wife to her son, disgusting. It's not her wedding or her honeymoon.
STOP INTERFERING IN YOUR SON'S MARRIAGE REGINA.
Jason you need to cut your interfering domineering mother out of your life.

So the mother in law treats the daughter in law harsh because she's training her like the mother in laws , mother and wall used to do.
To me that seems like we are continuing Cycle of abuse

This woman is annoying as hell with her nonsense unwanted suggestions and opinions nobody asked for... how DIL didn't just tell MIL to F off is beyond me.. this constant nagging would've irritated me enough to where I would've blocked her. Regina seems to believe her opinion is all that matters... she was beyond overbearing.. Regina wanted full control of people and their life.. damn what they want.

These mothers that think the woman who marries her son is supposed to do everything and anything for her husband and take all the responsibility off their precious sons! It’s ridiculous and this is definitely in Asia, because American women would tell her where to go! This is ridiculous

Where do these so-called "duties of the wife" come from? After 49 years of marriage I still don't know I have special duties that nobody else would have.

These are made in an Eastern area. The old ways still prevail there.

If one has to get a loan for a one-day wedding, then something is wrong and you're living above your means. Life continues the next day, as in work, food, bills, rent/mortgage, etc. I've known people who went above their pays for their 'supposed' once-in-a-lifetime event and are now divorced because of their debts. Think seriously about it and plan your wedding according to your savings. You have to live after the 'wedding' and 'honeymoon'. BTW, MIL's 'suggestions' are more commands than 'suggestions' or 'opinions'. At the end of the day, it's the couple who decides, when and where and how much and how long. Plus, if the couple is already living together, then they had sort of a honeymoon already. Also, why does the wife thank her husband for working 'for us', when the husband doesn't do the same to his working wife? Isn't she also working 'for us'?

When I met my in laws for the first time I made it very clear that I was the boss of my life and daughter. I would Not tolerate any interference with my family. I was 35 years old and a single mother for ten years before I met my ex husband. Still today, in my '60's, I don't tolerate anyone telling me or my daughter how to live our lives.

Going to NYC to ride the trains and subways? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You do that in a first world city where people are decent. Japan (most cities), same for South Korea, Taiwan. You could eat off the train car floors. NYC you need to get hepatitis shots.

I’m so tired of the “huh”, “what”, “but”, “why”. 50 percent of the story time are these words.
