Based on this video, operating a track loader is a lost art!!! Track loaders were a very versatile tool, second best dozer, loader or excavator, Swiss army knife of tractors:)
I have lots of hours on 955’s and 977’s but never a 983. Great machines that can move a lot of dirt in a short while, not sure what this operator is doing but love the cat,
I don’t normally like to criticize other ppls skills but I wasn’t quite sure what this dude was up to. I was hoping to see a good video with the ole girl.
What an old powerhouse. I saw a company cut a road up the side of a mountain years ago with 2 of these and a Dynahoe 200. That's the kitty purr I remember as a kid. That operator did good, he was just showing off machine I think. Not everyone can jump in a monster that big and dance it around without making a mess.
What I have noticed over the years, people that knock the videos have zero channel content themselves. Awesome Earthmover bring us some great videos to see. And the owners of the machines spend lots of money transporting them to events . I say well done , and to the moaners, get a life and contribute something yourselves
I know I always bring the biggest piece I can to EVERY job I do🤣🤣🤣 go big or go home I say👊👊 that’s a big piece of iron 👍👍nice old track loader guys!!!!
I don’t think he has the slightest idea what he’s doing! You bring a old 983 to play with a teaspoon of dirt! That machine is made to move a lot of dirt !
J. Love Enterprises LLC You got that right! Put about 15 trucks under him digging a big basement job or making a big cut for something! Was a good machine in its time. A 973 would eat it alive!
What the hell is he doing got a loader the size of a D 8 and hasn't moved a wheelbarrow full of dirt but that is a damn nice loader I ran loaders for years I would have got fired for wearing out the rails and no dirt being moved
I thought they parked the trailer in a precarious spot given the area needed to unload. I'll bet the change in video was because someone had to move that van. Incidentally, I know this was shot in the UK but that van had a New York license plate. In that case, it was _really_ parked in the wrong place.
A dinosaur. Remember a few holdout grading contractors still using them in the '90s because they didn't believe in excavators. They either went bk or they got with the program and bought excavators.
For such a big machine it was doing nothing. I have a friend who operates a smaller one and pushes a lot more dirt around & can come within 15 mm of being flat on a 600 square house block?.
This operator need's to go Home...Its apparent he hasn't a Clue as how to Operate a 983b series track loader. I grew up on a 955K....comes second nature to me.
Just another you tube eddie expert equipment operator... I wonder how many people you amazed saying you know how to operate a track loader. P.S you forgot to include an interesting way of saying the guy would be fired under your employment.
Got a 977L with a Peterson Clam bucket put on at Peterson cat in California machines were the machine of Choice for demolition back in the day it has tore down many buildings in its life.
So he has sufficiently demonstrated that he is NOT a Track Loader Operator! Time to quit wasting Fuel and let someone teach him how to run the machine. Probably not a Good Dozer Operator either from what I see. At least he is using the decelerator most of the time. As for the machine, a 983 was like having a bucket on a D 8H or K model. Lot of power, lots of weight, & long track, making it easy to grade with as long as you could get used to the size and not much visibility. Never saw one with a spade nose bucket before. Excavators in combination with a dozer have rightfully replaced big Track Loaders. I still like a 963 in the proper condition, like supporting a Pipe Crew in very muddy conditions, but operating costs are just too high to use loading trucks or pushing dirt.
No that's a 983 . Your thinking of a 973 which are a full hydrostatic drive . This old girl is 3 speed automatic with clutches and brakes for steering .
Why are you all so critical of the guy, saying it's a waste of fuel? It's not costing any of you a dime. Also to the guy saying that the machine isn't a 983,that the 983's had engine in the back.If he knew anything about cat trackloads, all the older models, including the 983's had their engines amounted in the front. It sure would be nice to view the videos posted by you tube, without any critical or negative comments. It seems to that so many lives just to be negative or critical about everything.Get a life. Keep up the good work,TH-cam.
Pete s it's a 983B from the 60-70s long before cat redesigned them with hydrostatic drive and rear engine ! This one was most probably built long before you were swimming in your old man's ballbag !
Tengo siete meses trabajando en una constructora ,ahì trabajan dos GUEYES Y son Peores que este operador.,lo bueno que nadamas les pagan $27.00 DLS$ por hora...

I ope4atwd a cat 983 n cat 977 in 1974/5 loading R35 trucks both great t operate n the quick dump on the 983 was a good feature .

Not sure he does either
Maybe they needed a skidsteer for this job?
Only driven 977K and 955L ....that 983 is a serious bit of kit lucky owner 👍
That’s a beautiful machine I own a 1988 Cat 953 with 2000 original hours I am the original owner and I wouldn’t get rid of that machine for the world!
This operator has such a good "feel" for this machine that I bet he could frost a cake with it. A demonstration of excellent skills.

Makes me want to go out back and put batteries in my 977k. I do have 2 yards of mulch to put in around the trees.
Why Don't you then !?
John Doran well that’s the first bucket then what 😄😄🤣🤣🤣
@@SJ-oq1rb Does one Bucket ! Contain Two Yards !?
David Willard on a a 977 2.5 yards 983 5 yards
@@SJ-oq1rb So are you Complaining , that it's only one Trip ! You have to do ! To have your Two Yards of Mulch ! Around your TREE / S !?

big bobcat looks to be just perfect for that job
Not sure what the plan was here other than making noise and accomplishing what a Bob-Cat would have done in half the time ??
Much stronger than the new ones
actually, the 983B was one of Cat's worst mistakes. D8 size machine with a D7 transmission. They were fragile
That machine sounds awesome. You can hear the power.
A V S la. Vida. de. Los. Le ones

This is at a classic plant show in sibbertoft I believe. Fair play to the Man I’d like a weekend toy like that
Go to the Bank !! And ask the Bank Manager !! For a Loan !!
He is just entertaining folks at the state fair 🤣
I don’t think he has the slightest idea what he’s doing! You bring a old 983 to play with a teaspoon of dirt! That machine is made to move a lot of dirt !
He obviously has never dug anything like a basement , just driving around
Hes wasting time, money doing nothing...
J. Love Enterprises LLC You got that right! Put about 15 trucks under him digging a big basement job or making a big cut for something! Was a good machine in its time. A 973 would eat it alive!
This must be some heavy equipment collection show, there are too many people standing around watching nothing being done...
He is doing finishing work on a loader crawler, that shows skills. If that's the only machine you have on site you use it. Dont be so critical!
that guy moved a whole dirt clod bravo bravo....
The whole time he operated the loader he maybe moved enough dirt to fill the bucket once maybe.
Very nice machine
Cool.... don’t think I’ve ever seen a motor grader like this one ever before?! 😳
What the hell is he doing got a loader the size of a D 8 and hasn't moved a wheelbarrow full of dirt but that is a damn nice loader I ran loaders for years I would have got fired for wearing out the rails and no dirt being moved
WONDERFUL
Wow... That's a biggun!!
Great video. Top Caterpillar power!
Why don't Cat make 983 anymore? Does any brand at all build that size anymore
This guy must be getting paid by the hour.
lowloader driver i reckon
Great machine for loading trucks as long as the ground is hard
That ! And the Excavator !
Caterpillar 983 caricatrice è una pala delle migliore bisogna saperla lavorare con persone che anno esperienza ❤
Why is this guy just wearing the machine out doing nothing? I don't get it? No clue what he's doing at all!!!
It’s at some sort of confession though I would prefer to see it actually move material
He would be better off to just take the bucket off the machine and drive around!!!!!!!
And Refit it ! With a Dozer Blade !
I believe he backed into that Van if not he surely touched it
I wondered why ! The Video ! Ended Short !? Next video him Supposedly pushing Dirt !
I thought they parked the trailer in a precarious spot given the area needed to unload. I'll bet the change in video was because someone had to move that van. Did the left track frame crack ??looks like a repair job with the two fish plates??
Seems like hes just wasntinng time and diesel but still fun to watch
I wish someone would show this guy how to run that track loader. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing!!!!!!!
For such a big machine it was doing nothing.
I have a friend who operates a smaller one and pushes a lot more dirt around & can come within 15 mm of being flat on a 600 square house block?.
The curved cutting edge would drive me nuts when trying to finish grade or spread material.
They call it a spade bucket or spade nose bucket. You don't really notice it when digging or grading.
I doubt a 983 is meant for any finish grading. That’s 100% meant to hog out material
Have no idea what he was trying to do, other then waste fuel and entertain the bystanders.
Great skills on finish work! Cheers!
هل السائق غشيم مصلحة
The transmission works good but it needs a operator to move dirt
Either a learner driver or wasting time.
A Bit like ALL OF US !! WHEN WE !! FIRST !! STARTED !!
lmao looks like this guy is tryna finish grade with a mean digging bucket.
Why not move the fuckin van or move up the tractor? Daah.
Some bright people in this video.
You took the words right out of my mouth!
That yellow vest does not make you a operator. You have no idea the power at hand or how to use it.
So How were you ! ? On your first ever ! Operating !!? I wonder !
This operator need's to go Home...Its apparent he hasn't a Clue as how to Operate a 983b series track loader. I grew up on a 955K....comes second nature to me.
Aye !! Mine was a 72 955L and a later 82 955L ROPS Cab !! Lovely piece o kit !! then had a 1980 977L
Too bad you don't have one so you could show him how it's done. It's his cat he can run it how he wants. Gotta love a keyboard cat skinner.
@@AlwaysBored123 Everyone love a smart mouth too....You win Today's prize..
I also grew up on a 955k and a 977L later on.77 was a beast I could only imagine an 83.Lol this guy needed about 10 trucks to load back to back.

Nice Video but the Komatsu D75 looked stronger attacking the bank
What a waste of fuel😭👎
If your man just practicing before the driver turns up?
I used a 983 twice i got new and the boss man rebuilt twice
He Wouldn't know !! Any Better !!
I wonder what that operator does for a living? A dentist, maybe?
Maybe a Bank Manager !!?
I just want to know what the go was with unloading without any room to move. Lol.
Darren Gandy The truck couldn’t go any further than where it was. Wheels started spinning on the grass so has to unload where it sat.
wow.... besar bener tuh...
Seems to me the guy is just playing
How Many Times ! Have you Played ! With YOURS !!?
Moved more dirt turning the dozer than the shovel. Waste of money and time . Thanks
What’s w the holes in the bucket?

As much power as that thing should have i could have took it and moved three times the dirt in half the time it took him
