    I just try to follow my aunt's healthy life style , she get up early take a sun bath in her backyard , then makes some tea , and go out to walk , eat just one or twice a day a lot of vegetables and fruits , sometimes meat , eat a little , not much , go to the church , pray for everyone , and go to bed early. she is 86 and no disease whatsoever .

      It's funny... I have a friend 83 and is mobile and we go to church on Wednesdays for Bible study and Saturday evenings for our church service... And we visit I work her out for balance and exercise to keep her moving... But she eats a pH balance diet since 1971 cuz she had breast cancer and survived it without any radiation and cancer treatments they told her to go home and take care of her affairs with her children just three girls... Still alive today still does the pH balance diet... And believes in the Lord oh so much very annoyed woman. .

    Without carbs you won’t be able to exercise with vigor. To get enough protein as we need fewer calories surely it’s much better to use animal protein as it comes in a much more concentrated form. All plant protein comes with many more calories for the same amount of protein. Also dr Longo recommends increasing fish cheese and chicken as we get beyond 70 and does not recommend IF. Cutting time eating daily is not long enough to start true autophagy and other benefits of a three day water fast or a FMD done for five days.
    Resistance training, hard interval cardio, more protein than you think and enough carbs to fuel your exercise and active life. Basically, live eat and train like a bodybuilder.
    Seeing my mother and now other family members literally shrink and struggle get themselves out of a chair has taught me muscle is all.

    • @wmp3346
      @wmp3346 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chicken is full of steroids. I also believe that IF is very important as you age. Longo is no genius. I can exercise no problem without carbs. You must be able to burn fat for fuel.

    Cutting back animal protein as we age and taking a processed vegetable protein shake instead. Didn’t really strike me as a healthier option for a food swap. Surely more wild salmon would be better. I would never advise my elderly parents to have a pea protein shake. Have some liver or cod. So much more available protein.

    I hear this frequently - reduce protein because it stimulates MTOR. But there's very little science about this as a real effect in increasing aging. However there's a ton of evidence regarding sarcopenia and aging. Muscle is a sink for glucose. Less muscle means inadequate glucose control. And what else stimulates MTOR? Insulin. I think focus on that.

    • @thejedibunny4802
      @thejedibunny4802 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Exactly. It's frequent triggering of insulin that is the problem and always being in a growing anabolic state. Better to have long periods of low to zero insulin and be in the catabolic state as well with varying degrees of low carb to prolonged fasting. Have a good refeed when you are sensitive to both insulin and protein to up take all you nutrients, build muscle... then go back to a catabolic state. We need both, we need the contrast. Gabrielle Lyon talks about how when MTor is stimulated by protein it is only a phase one reaction....which is to say it is a low signal just to uptake the protein rather than a prolonged stimulation.

    A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean protein, whole grains and low in sugar is highly advisable. This is in contrast to a diet that is rich in fatty foods and processed sugars, which will leave you feeling lethargic and accelerates aging. Vegetables and fruits contain antioxidants which reverse the signs of aging.👍
