It's a word play... "still life" is what painting in museums and galleries are called, when the painter does "still life" paintings of flowers, fruits, inanimate objects that was "alive" at the time. "Still" as in not moving, life. But the double meaning is "still" the adverb like something is still moving, going on, continuing... Knowing this will make the lyrics have a deeper and multifaceted meaning.
I'm not kidding if I say that but the whole album Indigo is a masterpiece. No skip tracks and they are all so different 💜💜💜 He also sang most songs from the album live in a mini free concert for ARMY. They held a raffle to choose 200 people and didn't allow them to take phones in, so everyone could just enjoy themselves. The whole concert was streamed online and still on TH-cam. RM says Still Life as a specific style of painting and also as still alive. He is a massive collector and fan of art and paintings specifically so this video was framed as an art piece.
You will get a kick out of Anderson .Paak on drums for BTS. PROOF live on the song "Yet to Come". He chats with them afterwards. Love it!!!
Once you get more into BTS, you'd probably enjoy listening to RM's discussion of his inspirations and thoughts behind both the creation of the group's albums, but especially all the content made around the Indigo album. Still Life is inspired by art, and the connections and metaphors he makes are so deep and interesting. Side note: "visuals" in K-Pop means literally they're like the "face" of a group, like strikingly good-looking. I'd say many of the members have input into the style, design, keywords, ideas of their music videos...especially on these solo works.
Oh yes. Now it would be a huge treat if you guys do a reaction analysis on rms latest album indigo. It's just timeless music. You guys will enjoy the chronology of the tracks.

There are different terms for a younger close male, and there are different words if the older/younger person is female if you are male and if the person is male if you are female. and females call each other something different than what males call each other. Indigo is not just musically awesome but it is a lyrical masterpiece. RM has put the story of his 20s in the album and he did say to listen to it from beginning till end in that sequence 💜💜💜💜

I think people commenting about using the official MV from Hybe is because the font that you use for the subtitles is different from the standard one used in TH-cam subtitles, which gives the impression that the video you use is a re-upload with subtitles provided by the re-uploader.
The album that this song comes from, Indigo, is an amazing album. It has ten tracks in various genres and eight of them have featured artists. RM said that he's like a curator for the album and he did an excellent job picking artists that fits incredibly well with each song. I hope you'll consider doing an album reaction.
I believe this is exactly why people keep telling them to use the official MV, cuz they don't recognize the font; and they're not reading the other comments where MK5 Studios has already explained why the font is different. 💜

@AMBER PEARCE yes people also asume the reactors have bad intentions and have tried to argue on what the reactors truly mean. Army can be a little paranoid and a little rude.
It's ok, as the videos get more popular, more and more people will get more aggressive. It is the nature of putting yourself out there. I have been wanting to build out my own channel for a decade, but I never did it because I loathe how fame can corrupt people. Also why i was the world's worst musician. I've lost many musician friends to drugs and alcohol because of the toll fame and judgement that takes on you. Everyone just has to realize that in the scheme of things none of it matters. We all are born with the ability of great creation or great destruction. It is the actions we take, the things we say and the character we possess that dictates how we live life. We will have looked over our lives, and hopefully coming to realization that joy, love, kindness, laughter and civility is the way we should all pursue. I don't wish on anyone ill will. None of us are perfect and none of us know the true intent of ones heart. We just have to be kind but stalwart and strong and not allow others to rain on our parade. Keep moving forward. Like the song says.
@@MixItUpPodcast I will say that their is a HUGE portion of ARMY who are genuinely very kind and not as rude. Unfortunately sometime some channels, with the algorithm, attracts sometimes different parts of the fandom that unfortunately doesn’t really show ARMY.
P.S. ARMY value kindness with ourselves and each other. (Also to support all 7 members). Also because of how large the fandom their is going to be some doosy people.

I have a link for the RM song you wanted to listen to!!! The one from the introduction video is called “Joke” and it’s from his 2015 mixtape. The name of the video is "Rap Monster - Joke (농담) MV (CC ENG SUBS)” by the channel leeha park. I’ll leave the link in a reply to this comment, since I know sometimes comments with links are filtered. Unfortunately, the video does have soft subs (meaning you have to click the CC button to see them), so if you do a reaction video the viewers won’t be able to see the subtitles, but it’s the best I’ve found over the years that also has translators notes for wordplay (since most of the wordplay is in Korean), although the notes go by pretty quickly with how fast RM is rapping.
Also, some background on the song “Joke”: it gets it’s name because the song is literally a joke. RM had been criticized (this is somewhat tied to the whole “sellout” thing where he and SUGA were accused of “going mainstream”) and some people were saying he rapped slow because he couldn’t rap fast. So, RM came back at these accusations with “Joke”, where not only did he rap fast, but he was also proving the point that he rapped slow, but intentionally, with meaning in his lyrics, and most of these super fast rappers were just saying nonsense in order to rap fast. These fast rappers were the real jokes, because RM could rap fast or slow, and have meaning in his lyrics either way, with brilliant wordplay as well.

In Kpop when they talk about visuals they are talking about facial features. Jin was hired because of his handsome face and he learned to sing and dance. The other visual is V aka Kim Taehyung He has been voted most handsome man in the world several years and the other visual is Jungkook who also has been named handsome man in the world. All of BTS are handsome men but the three named are unusually handsome and have been awarded for it. If I’m wrong someone will correct me. But when they say visual they are actually talking about looks. That’s Kpop.
bts are not kpop, and no, he was not hired just because of his face, he had to learn to sing and "compete" with other trainees, if he had been a bad singer and hadn't tried hard then he wouldn't be part of BTS, Jin studied acting, and since there are many agencies (for example SM) that have idols and actors Jin thought that maybe with Big Hit it could be something similar, they asked him to join their agency but they did not specify that it would be to belong to a group called Bangtan (BTS)

If Joke was the song you tried to react to, there is a video with lyrics but just to keep note that the song is literally meant to be joke, the lyrics don't completely make sense and are making fun of rappers who think rapping fast makes you good, someone tried to diss RM by saying he can't rap fast or he's not a real rapper because he's in an idol group.. so he responded with this song basically showing off his ability but the lyrics really are just meaningless rhymes

Might want to try Ddaeng. It is kind of a rap line reply to haters and such but done in a really unique way. There is an explanation video by DKDKTV which will help as the lyrics are on a whole different level. RMs parts are truly amazing. Though both Suga and JHope are definitely great too. I would watch Ddaeng where the rap line performs it, not the one where the vocal line is featured. Not that it isn’t a fun video.

I believe that 6 of them have master degree. RM produced all his albums.
All of them have bachelor's degree and most of them are working towards their master's. RM didn't produce this album. He has friends who produced the songs for him, such as Pdogg, John Eun, Honne, and others.
Jin has his master's. The remaining six are working towards theirs.

He also does a song called Do You, which is a reaction to haters, specifically the guys he did underground rap with before joining BTS. He and Suga got a lot of crap back in the day from rappers and hip-hop artists for joining an idol group and "selling out." That's also where the Cyphers came from too.
Hyung is "older borther", RM's hyungs are Seokjin and Suga. J-Hope is also older, but just a little (some months) so he doesn't use honorifics with him.
He doesn't call J-hope as hyung because they were born in the same year (1994) and so they're the same age. Nothing to do with the number of months. J-hope was born in Feb, RM in September, that's seven months.
Jin (Dec 92) and Suga (Mar 93) are only three months apart, but Suga still calls Jin as hyung because they were born in different years and therefore Jin is a year older.

RM being very interested in art liked how even flowers in a still life painting still lived on today as art that could be seen years after. The song is catchy as hell & the video of him on the train is genius (he is sitting still yet still moving). As for people coming in & out of your life you are spot on! My grandmother always said people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime & I have found that to be 100% true in my 52 years on this planet. We dont do this live. We dont use obs software or laptop. We edit it together in post. We took the video from hybe. The english translations transcipt from hybe. Then put it into the video on captions. So what are you talking about bud?
@@MixItUpPodcast some people believe that if you show the whole video, including the initial title with the music label animated logo and sound, it helps on avoiding a copyright block (not being able to publish your reaction because it tells you is copyrighted) which happens with some songs for some regions/countries. Some other reactors said it makes no difference so your experience might vary, but it might be a good idea to keep that on the video you use for reactions. Perhaps you're keeping it and watching it but removing that part on edition, in this case just keep your footage at hand just in case you get blocked, you could try that
RM is an art fan. Still Life allows something, like flowers, that were painted and died long ago, to live again every time someone appreciates it. Art had a huge influence on the album and the whole thing is good. I agree you should watch the magazine someone mentions above. Ty!

ALSO !! joke is the song you guys wanted to react to, which let me tell you guys beforehand: you will not understand a lot of the wordplay cause it’s “meaningless wordplay”. joon came out with it because people said he wasn’t a real rapper cause he didn’t rap fast so he literally wrote this song as a joke to show that even if you’re rapping fast, if there’s no meaning behind it it’s just dumb. when i say “meaningless wordplay” i mean the whole song is crazy in wordplay but doesn’t have like a deep deep meaning to it, it’s very surface level the meaning being “look i’m rapping very fast, i’m also better than you are and you’re dogshit” basically

the "visual" label is just dumb and unnecesary to me, that is the reason why so many people think v and jin are not talented and they are just a pretty face, and that is also the reason why rm and j-hope were called ugly for not fitting the beauty standards. Kpop is seen as something plastic and superficial, where there are groups where there are members who are recluted just for being too pretty, but bts is not like that, they are beyond that industry and beyond korean standards

Still Life was produced by three Swedish producers (can't remember the names right now) and GHSTLOOP, a producer who also is part of one of their usual bands when performing live

You can get RM JOKE ENGLISH SUBTITLES. Every track on INDIGO is a differrent genre. Yhe collaborators he chose took my breath away. Erykah Badu and Youjeen are well known to turn down offers to collaborate.

Please look into explanation video of the lyrics of joke before you review the song. It will set your chanel apart. Basically RM said the lyrics are a joke. The song is him schooling haters on how to rap . In the section of bibity,bibity,boo flow. He shows how bad rappers mumble or just suck. Then he uses the same flow to actually put amazing words/meaning to it. It's his middle finger solute to those wanna be's who will never be.
Joke is rap 101 prepared to be schooled.
The only official visual is Jin because he matches South Korean beauty standards. ARMY believe all the members are exceptionally beautiful but Jin represents that kind of face that majority of the population would find beautiful. It's kind of like the American term "All American Beauty" is indicative of what was once, but is maybe now a bit outdated, widely considered the most beautiful face. Now with America trying to embrace more diversity, the term has obviously lost some of it's importance and is harder to define. South Korea is largely still a homogeneous society though, so beauty standards are still narrowly defined.
He was literally street scouted TWICE in his life for his looks. Once when he was in middle school and once while he was in university, he was approached and offered to be represented by talent agencies. Luckily, maybe fatefully, he thought it was a scam the first time but followed up with the agency the second time. He probably followed up because he was in university studying acting, so he needed a management company anyway. That agency was BigHit and although he originally wanted to be represented for acting, most entertainers in Asia are trained to be triple threats with many doing crossovers or diversifying their work simultaneously during their careers. Luckily for BTS and ARMY, they convinced him to train for and debut as an idol singer. Idols are what SK calls mainstream singers of mostly pop music that debut usually in single sex groups, though at least one unisex group has existed.

This is off RM's newest solo album called "Indigo". There is an MV for a song called "Wildflower" in addition to this one. The whole album is fantastic. RM is a genius. Kinda literally and figuratively. He has been known to have an IQ of 148. Anyway, you might enjoy RM's mini-concert on NPR Home Concert recently. He does 3 songs: "Seoul" off an earlier mix tape, "Yun", and "Still Life" which he explains how he came up with the concept. He's with a live band. It's great. You also might enjoy their "concert" called Proof after their 2022 Anthology Album release of the same name. They sing Born Singer, Yet to Come (with Anderson Paak on drums), and For Youth and they do have a live band and also some backup singers. They also talk about their past since debut and what the Proof album means to them. 12:38 - the "visual" is Jin, however, they are all visual and have been models for Louis Vuitton. The song you are talking about towards the end is "Joke" - off an earlier album and it's pretty much a diss to those that were hating on him for becoming an idol instead of staying as an underground rapper and saying he couldn't rap.
Recommendation: I think you two might enjoy Ddaeng, but the Live version where the 4 vocal line members rap the parts of the rappers. First though, you need to hear the song with the rappers, And watch an interpretation video done by DKDKTV as there are many word plays in Korean that we non-Koreans would never pick up on.
My favorite his song is Closer from his new album INDIGO.

When they talk about being a visual, they literally mean the way they look and Acting, they are at the center of the story. The concept and production of the video is Bighit staff with the members heavy input on their solo endeavors. JK did direct some.
JK direct one MV (Life goes on) and did his golden closet films (GCF) which was more of a hobby. That is not plural. Or at least I have not heared of him directing other stuff. Can you name another thing? I really like to know if there is something I missed.

@Des E they meant looks because they followed it up with Jin being known as "third guy on the left" and with V they showed his facial expressions on cams.
@@WhalienDNA the extra tasks that those in the "visual" position have are also related to their own personal looks, like being the main character on content like music videos or commercial shoots or the face of the group on variety shows or other similar stuff. It's not related with production design or costume selection/styling, which was what they mentioned when they encountered the term while reacting to the guide
