Daechwita is a genre of military music that's performed when the king arrives or when the army is marching. The beginning of the song is a sample of an actual performance of daechwita. So Agust D is saying that he's the king ... in the lyrics, in the costume, and in the music.
The blond king represents his past self. In his first mixtape, "Agust D", he was blond. This past self is ambitious and greedy and angry. The dark-haired commoner in the modern garb is his present self, who is more humble and down-to-earth. He kills his past self in the end because he doesn't want to be that way anymore. In the scene where he's tied up alone and raps in a lower tone, he talks about this, how he wanted many things for himself, but now that he'd achieved them, he found that these material things are not important, and he wants to keep his feet on the ground.
"D-2", the album where this song is from, is amazing. I love the introspective lyrics and the music. You might want to take a listen, whether on camera or off. If you like it, you might want to see him live.
Agust D/Suga is going on tour, with the US leg from late April to mid-May.

Armys are actually very strict about following the members around..they would call out anyone who invades the members' privacy and fans will act as if the didn't know the members by chance they met them on their personal time, ie. flights attendants, restaurant goers, etc. just to give the members their privacy..

Nah don't worry. ARMY etiquette is very firm that we respect the boys time, space and boundaries when we encounter them. We keep our distance and either wave politely from afar and leave or pretend we don't know them altogether. There have been times were ARMY would help do a blackout so that media won't know that BTS members are vacationing in their country. Coded language is used to refer to them and we ensure that their relaxation time isn't bothered. I feel like that will be maintained even after they retire.
Their safety and happiness is priority. We don't want them feeling smothered or pestered by us no matter how much we get excited to see them. Of course, some new people may not get the memo with such an ever-growing fandom. People learn with time when there are slip ups. They'll never be normal, but we can try to make the celebrity experience less awful by having decorum and respect. Media is another matter though. We can only call them out and refuse to engage with articles.

Ah our SUGA slayed this. Imo he's a musical genius. Composer, producer, songwriter. This is my personal favorite of his.
In order to differentiate his work from that of his work as Suga, he developed the alter ego "Agust D", which is derived from the initials DT, short for his birthplace, Daegu Town, and "Suga" spelled backwards so it's AGUST D for SUGA= AGUS and DT =TD
That flow shift kills me every time. This is one you will never understand without the explanation video because so much is played off Korean history. and it's extremally interesting.
yet again Yoongi left me speechless and showed me why he is my ultimate bias wrecker, also he showed me again why he is my all time number 1 favourite rapper in the entire music industry and that British and American rappers should follow his lead.also Yoongi and Jimin are the only members to have me breathless, and making me cry as well as shaking my head, im so hyped up that I so was not ready for this and even after a million times watching this Mv im still not ready and ever since listening to AustD's first mix tape I new I would never be the same also to me in my opinion (not hating on Eminem) but Yoongi is a way better rapper I just hope one day we get a collab between these 2 rappers.also on a side note us army's need a studio version of Tony Montana

He is really flexing his rapping, composing (especially using traditional Korean instruments used for Daechwita which is used to announce the King). He killed his inner greedy angry king to become a man of the people. His tour will be crazy.
Yoongie (real name) is Suga in BTS and Agust D (Dagu Town, Suga backward) is when he does solo on his own project beside BTS. So, with this song he made this mv with his own budget. From top to bottom of this (music & mv creation) was his work and his ideas/concepts and everything was done under his direction.
Daechwita- the traditional kind of Korean music- was played during a royal procession, so him saying "Play it loud, daechwita" is like saying, "The king has arrived"
Fun fact he was actually drunk during the scenes as the emperor. To me he is doing a song about how when he had essentially nothing he wanted to be the "king" but now that he is in that position he had realized that's not WHO he wants to be as a person. He doesn't want to be a dictator or demanding of his fans or flaunting his riches. He wants to stay humble like he was when he had no name in fame. That's my interpretation of it, which is why at the end he kills the emperor, he is getting rid of the "oh look at me, im famous, love me" personality.
him being drunk during the shooting is not exactly true but more of an exaggeration. yoongi just said that during some of his scenes for the mad king he went in the back and had a little bit of liquid courage (whiskey if I'm not mistaken) to help his nerves and get in his role better

ok so Yoongi said on his vlive that 'daechwita' is more focused on his production skills (as i remember, correct me if i'm wrong), I would also add that this work is focused on the story and visual image of the mv. You can watch explanation video by DKDKTV, they explain many historical and those moments that a non-korean speaker wouldn't understand. Explanation video by DKDKTV and Yoongi's words are different but I think 2 interpretations work very well. Yoongi himself said the blond Agust D is Yoongi filled with anger from the past (his parents were very opposed to his desire to make music, as they wanted a stable job for him. he also had social anxiety and depression. during his trainee days, he had no money, he was very poor. when he worked as a food delivery boy he had an accident, as a result the cartilage of his shoulder joint was torn. he didn't tell anyone about this he thought he might be kicked out of the group. it was healed the wrong way. it's just facts and that was what shaped his personality i think. those were hard times and I didn't even mention everything) and bottom-class Yoongi is the more mature him from the present (in the mv bottom-class Yoongi killed the king who is Yoongi from the past). By the way he said he hasn't decided yet if the old Yoongi is killed as the story will continue on his next album D-3. It's so funny to me that he keeps intrigue. D-3 will be released around April. Jimin's solo album of 6 songs will be released on 23 of March. Just wanna mention it here haha.

Agust D is a commoner as well as a king and the commoner wants to take over the king. So in other words he’s trying to get rid of his old persona where he used to be puffed up full of anger and pride. As a commoner you see Suga stop at a table briefly two men one is a butcher one is an executioner back during the Josen dynasty if you handle and killed livestock or execute people you were considered an untouchable you weren’t allowed to even talk to people you would be arrested and you would be executed for talking to the untouchable but here you see Suga of BTS doesn’t care he wants to take over and replace the mad king!
You probably will not be able to understand some of the references in this song because they are Korean idioms and metaphors that are use in Daechwita. An explanation video will give you more insight on exactly what it means you can reference any explanation that you want to do but you won’t be accurate at all and not unless you’re Korean and you understand the Korean referencing. For example when Agust D says I’m putting my past in a rice chest or when he references Gwanghua Flow .
Once you guys do your own break down and take away of what the music video means in your Explanation, the analysis I would recommend ,”Bookish Theories “ or “DKDK TV “ for an actual explanation of the word play the Korean references & Korean word play.

AgustD allows him to be much rawer and more direct than he can be as Suga of BTS. Songs like the gut-wrenching ‘The Last’ could never be released as Suga.
As others have said, you should check out the explain videos for Daechwita. There are two which give slightly different but complementary interpretations. One is by DKDKTV, the other by Bookish Theories. The song and video contain a huge amount of personal, cultural and historic references and symbolic layers.
Essentially, this is Yoongi as AgustD pitting his current self (as at 2020) against the much angrier AgustD of 2016 when he released his first mixtape. He is also settling some scores.
He has said that he may not have actually killed the mad king in himself.
He deals with some of the same internal fears and conflicts in the song Interlude: Shadow from Map of the Soul:7, but this time within the framework of Jungian psychology which BTS have been exploring for some time. ‘Shadow’ is also a phenomenal piece of art.

I'm sure much of this has already been said in comments before mine, and you may already know this if you've gotten to know more about Yoongi's music in general since this video, but SUGA is his alias as a member of BTS. Agust D is his alias as a solo artist.
So, if you're talking about him and/or his songs as a member of BTS, you should call him SUGA. But when you're talking about him and/or his songs from his mixtapes Agust D, D-2 and his album D-Day, you should call him Agust D.
The difference is the lyrics and words he uses, and the persona he adopts. His Agust D alias is much more raw by way of his language and delivery, as well as his much more personal lyrics.
With the release of D-Day, it seems he has come to reconcile all three of his personas. And with his current solo tour being called the SUGA | Agust D Tour, he seems (and this is just my opinion) to be doing one last hurrah with and saying goodbye to both alter egos. He's truly Yoongi now. And Yoongi will be whoever he damn well pleases to be going forward.

As others have said, check out DKDKTV's video explaining this! There are a ton of historical references, as well as Korean slang in the lyrics, which as a non-Korean most people wouldn't understand. So for the full depth of the lyrics you would really need to check that out.
