@@thenewyorkpauls Try a Squier Affinity Telecaster; they are wired to sound like Jimmy Page on the first Led Zeppelin album. Some think they sound muddy, but I think they're built that way.
I just purchased a Knoxville 12-string Tele-style guitar from www.gear4music.com and discovered the same thing; the pickups are way more powerful with way less hum than any Tele I played in the 60's or 70's. Especially the neck pickup. I'm thinking that someone in China has copied the Fender 'twisted tele' design.
In my book you are one of the TOP 100 GUITARISTS in the WORLD. I have heard you play in many videos and advertisements and you are one of the few I don't stop the video. Now, after this video you get "my" award. Thank YOU!
Message in a Bottle -Police, Communication Breakdown or, Good Times Bad Times - Led Zep, Song 2 - Blur, This Charming Man - The Smith’s...........etc etc etc. There are 1000s of great Tele riffs.
Oh, yes, the list would be endless, Booker T and the Mg's, all Two Tone SKA, Bauhaus, the Cure, Wilco Johnson and Dr. Feelgood, The Stranglers,Girlschool,...Telecaster, one size fits all, I love this guitar like I love different kinds of music.
Great playing, however, Some Zeppelin I, like Communication Breakdown, would have been an immediate go-to for me, but that's the cool thing about the tele, it's been everywhere and holds up tried and true
I'm totally a Les Paul/Gibson player nowadays, but I will always have at least ONE Stratocaster and ONE Telecaster in my collection. Always need at least one of the "Greatest Hits" when it comes to guitars. That applies for one P90 Les Paul, one Humbucker Les Paul, one TVJ Filtertron Gretsch and one single coil Gretsch, and so on.
I recently bought a Squier Bullet Telecaster in a beautiful surf green :) didn’t really know the history behind this amazing CLASSIC guitar and the more I find out about it the more proud I am for making that decisions for purchase, I love her so much (the guitar) haha. Great video man this makes me wanna pick’er up and learn some more
I always come back to watch this video over and over again hah I never get tired of it. Does anyone know what's on his fingers? that look like black rings
flat cat true, but if you actually go past bohemian rhapsody they have some great songs, I’d recommend ogre fight, it is power metal lyrics to a classic rock instrumental.
@@joshuawatt7993 I think Johnny Marr played a whole lot of his songs on a Rickenbacker and later he started using a Jaguar, but in this case it is indeed a telecaster, as I recently found out when I discovered this video: th-cam.com/video/ginuxCoZ_FU/w-d-xo.html - he says it at 4:35
I just noticed an interesting, possibly unintentional subtle design feature on Fender Telecasters, and possibly Stratocasters as well. Anyone ever notice that the angle of the bridge pickup is almost exactly perpendicular to the angle of the headstock and tuners? I noticed this on my guitar the other day while it was on my multi-guitar stand. The bridge pickup was parallel to the floor, and the tuners were parallel to the wall!
What's your source that The Beautiful People was recorded with a Tele? John 5 is a famous Tele player, but that album was recorded two whole guitarists before he joined Marilyn Manson.
haha, I was actually going to ad that the guitarist at the time played Jacksons (and also that the guitar in that song wasn't even definitely played by Daisy because Twiggy recorded a great deal of guitar on their records, especially that one) but I thought I might sound a little bit toooo nerdy.
Hey thanks for watching! I saw some footage of John 5 rocking it with his tele and it was so heavy and great.. I thought I better add it to the list - I also really love the riff, and wanted some more heavy stuff in here :)
What riffs I' add: First one that came to mind was "Hot Rod Lincoln" by Bill Kirchen. Not really a riff, but I'd throw in some Roy Buchanan there (like the intro to Sweet Dreams" or to "The Messiah Will Come Again"). Ah, George's riff on the intro to "One After 909" or "Don't Let Me Down".
This is exactly the thought I had when I watched the video. Happy for the inclusion of The Clash in a riff vid, but I'm sure it's not right. So much of the album was done on that Strat.
The fact that you can go from Manson to Cash to Prince really shows how amazingly versatile the Tele is!
1:13 that face.. that is the face you see someone make before playing Stairway to heaven in Guitar Center..
That dreaded face! I honestly can’t hardly stand that song anymore... it’s a sad thing!
No stairway! Denied!
Didnt page always use a les paul
@@MrKongatthegates not for the stairway solo
@@MrKongatthegates Early on it was all Danelectro/Tele tone, I wanna say the LP was a gift from Jeff Beck(?) after the first album was recorded
Joe’s a very skilled player, but I’m always super impressed with his ability to memorize riffs and tunes. Would love to hear his story as a musician.
There's no story yet. He's still a baby !

Teles, we like them Clean but we love 'em Dirty ;-)
Experiment Eight amen
When it’s a Tele there is no clean (then again I do use a plexi and hate most tele neck pickups)

Heck yeah!
Some of the transitions are insanely awesome. That dude can play. 👏🏼
Thanks!
He also can tap dance on the pedals!
Jonny always writes the craziest solos, brilliant guitarist.
Incredible, love the sound of an overdriven tele, Paranoid Android was perfect
Wha'ts being used for the fuzz tone on Paranoid here??? Sounds great!
Gonkulator?
Blackstar HT- METAL Pedal ;)

Bart Bentulan more on
Go clean ur room bart
Bart Bentulan ah yes lp1, “stay home” be hitting different these days
Cringe
Yeah, if only he had time in the video to tune to FACGCE in the video lol
paranoid android sounded amazing
That was amazing. The transitions were so seamless for a shot that appeared to be in one take. And the player is a beast!
Makes me want to go out and buy a telecaster!
Do it!
I think I might! I’ve got a budding fender collection and am looking for the right one on the used market right now.
What the hell are you waiting for.
Gotta find the one that talks to me solamentevees!
I’ll definitely post a video when i get one if you wanna subscribe you can check it out!
Fuzz on a tele is the greatest thing ever
Univibe on a Jazzmaster is close.
Not sure what's more impressive, knowing/playing that variety of songs or the smooth multitasking with the effects. That's a lot going on at once!
The aggression with Heart Full Of Soul... i’m living for it

The arrangement is really good, the songs flow really well. Great work!
Thanks!
the most beautiful colors for a tele

not even a guitar player but i love the sound of the telecaster above the strat
Didn’t expect to here Waylon and Johnny riffs, but loved it!

Hats off for including Buck Owens!!

Came here to see any Joe Walsh and Petty/Campbell. Killer vid. Really shows the range of the tele.
So happy to hear it 1:28
Show that pedalboard Joe!
Bad ass. That's the best way to do covers ever.
Man this is impressive!! Especially the quick pedalboard work!
Again LOVED the YOUR SHOW !!!
The playing is fantastic, such a wonderful range of skills and incredible interpretation thrown in.
Your tone on "The Right Profile" is fantastic! What pedal are you using?
A telecaster is really the only guitar anyone ever needs, the reason people overlook it is beyond me
The sound is just so good.
I'm so glad a Waylon riff got in there
A good Telecaster is amazing to hear

Playback spotted at 0:16, Roxanne song starts but the left hand is two frets to high.
