@@DdD-om1mr most of the students I know stayed at private apartment near the uni. There are university dormitory but are usually for short term stay less than 6 months... U can talk to your lecturer, my lecturer helped me to apply as I Am there just for a short while.

如果是交换的话，不懂日语也应该没什么大问题。
我本身只做实验，没上课。但刚问了朋友，你能自己挑日语还是英语的课程。可是英语的课程可能少一些。一般上，老师都会给ppt。
