@caseysterly I used black gesso, let that dry and then covered the canvas with a thin,m thin coat of oil painting medium., I then covered the canvas with a blue like Prussian Blue (oils) and then started to paint the lake.
Thank you for the inspiration! I just started acrylic painting not even a few weeks ago and was looking for something to paint.. Your amazing and this is just the second video I've watched from you. *Subbing!
Sotometal: try looking in your libraries...there's usually a large selection...I started by teaching myself watercolor, which really shows you how colors behave, the interaction, and how to paint using the white of the paper instead of white paint. Painting in oils is then much easier, as you just use white paint, and don't have to mask or save the white of your paper. It's a natural step from pencil drawing...or try ink, then watercolor, or sumi-e the oriental method.
@bktyb It really is easy to learn this technique. Its about like learning to sign your name. Once you learn the fundamentals of writing, you can write anything you'd like.....a letter, sign your name, articles, poetry, novels, research. Self-expression through writing becomes another mechanism for you. Same with art. Once you learn the techniques, the basic techniques, than a whole new world of expression opens up for you. Go for it!
Deal Allan...Love you painting and the "Sounds" :) ... just a bit of feedback.. After you are done..can you do a zoom back and show teh whole painting please..
As for a book, I wrote one and its available on my website. Your English is very good. Better thaan a book, I have a 100 or DVDs on my website that show how to do different landscapes and seascapes step-by-step. For both acrylics and oils.
look at pictures, see the different layers the sky, the mountains, what separates them from the foreground and the forground dont focus on the detailes it should all first just be shapes and colors
@TTYKL The dark canvas is gesso. Once dried I cover with thin coat of medium and then the blue paint as you mentioned above,.
