Those 2.0 diesels have been absolutely ruined by all those emissions add ons, that thermostat is a special bit of landfill bound tat. That said keeps you in a job doesn't it! Great bit of info.
Hello Alan, since covid i have noticed that Ford parts have gone up up in price. They used to be quite reasonable in price, things like discs and pads, clutches etc. But some of the bills that i have seen are alarmingly more than they used to be. Wiper blades for my kuga are now near on £60 , a few years ago they were under £40. I got ripped off during covid by a ford dealer, so personally i drive to the next city to buy genuine Ford parts.
I have an Smax mk2 and I agree, parts are extortionate. I have paid the following for Genuine Ford parts: £1100 for 2x complete driveshafts £211 each for lower control arm £650 for the 2x rear suspension arms (the ones Alan mentioned for the squeaky rear end) despite finding the genuine bushes after the fact for 85 quid each on ebay
Hi Alan love your content and your videos are always entertaining, but can I add Ford don't make any Ford parts ,for instant there fuel and oil filters and discs and pads are all made by Delphi and you can get them in any decent motor factors at a cheaper cost and that includes wiper blades too.👍
Great video Alan , you were lucky it came undone without taking your knuckle skin off 😂😉👍So many modern diesels use these now Alan, have done a few on Peugeot boxers 2019 , vivaros 2017 , normally wont separate from the control unit, wiring built in , but as usual , modern day vehicles are crap , I feel sorry for the young kids setting off in our job now , hybrid, electric , semi hybrid , hopefully we should be sat with our feet up when there are only electric garbage ones
Top info as always my pal. Unfortunately due to a family issue I wont get down on 19th to see you BUT i am re-planning my trip for 21/22/23 Sept. Hope fully see you on a wed night live before though
Going by my reading they tightened Euro6 NOx compliance in 2017 (new models) with existing models complying by Sept 18' which is probably why 68 plate cars onwards have updated sensor setups. Not just cost, seems wasteful to have to junk an electronic module rather than just replace a sensor and lead- no doubt there are "technical" reasons to justify complete unit...
Not a nox sensor, but as your title states, a particle matter sensor. It observes to see how many particles that is let past the dpf. In your case the heater is gone.
I've changed many of these due to that code, ford don't list a wiring diagram for the control module to the sensor. They only give you up to the module connector. 4 pins, power, ground and 2 CAN wires. Because there's no communication codes I'd be replacing the sensor and module everytime as they are one part.
My friend had a code on this on his golf FSI for Nox sensor open or shorted to ground. It had no live data fort that sensor though and the car had 200000 miles on it and the sills rotted out so it went to scrap. I suspect that might have really been related to cam chain tension though. You can get just the probe though assuming that is the part that failed for under £100.
I had a new PCM installed on my 68 plate transit connect, I did an off vehicle DPF flush while on vehicle using Wynns and got some errors P246c as well as NOx sensor P20EE code, I had no problems prior to the DPF flush, so once I ran the car which was extracting soot, I used a Autel scanner to reset the learnt values of both Particulate Matter Sensor and SCR Sensor, I did check my soot levels 6% open loop at 25%, all errors cleared down briefly but threw code again, new matter sensor required.
Hi Alan, I'm in the same problem except that I've been looking for 1 month now and I can't find the complete part with the case, I'm in France and if there are delivery costs I pay. If you can help me (a mini to buy). And I want to congratulate you for this work I always sow your videos
The performance in the wording usually means the part is faulty. But would be a lot better to know for sure rather than "hope" it works. Testing and comparing to manufacturers specs such as resistance, live data and so on.
I purchased one for £165 off eBay genuine Bosch part, came from Latvia. Fords wanted £335 and they have to come from Germany, you will need to use the Bosch part code when identifying it, mine was KV615L239AB. Much cheaper than buying from Fords UK.
Nice easy fix mate but damn thats an expensive sensor 🙈🙈🙈not liking where the module is fastened tho on the underbody and open to all the elements of weather
Hi Alan. I have been getting error code P06DD. Car goes into limp mode when under high load. Looks like it is the oil pressure control solenoid but a few people have commented that it is tricky to replace as air con pipes get in way of the bolt. Have you ever changed one? Would be great if you could do a video please
hi tim, yes i have changed many oil pressure control solenoids and they can cause limp mode, i will do a vid on it but they are straight forward to replace..you don't have to move air con pipes
@@alan4x thanks Alan. And thanks for all your videos. You're one of my favourite you tube channels. You have helped me with more a few repairs and funny along the way! 😀

hi, as far as i remember that car was fine after the sensor replacement but around and after i made that video we had lots of dpf issues with mk5 mondeos and more times than not it was the dpf getting partially blocked or worse causing all kinds of issues as well as that particular code. if you have to replace the dpf it wil be very costly...but you can get a dpf delete done a lot cheaper which will solve a lot of headaches

This is how ford makes this sensors to be changed in every year? 😕😕 so disapointed of the car. I also have the problem with oil leak. Car has only 100.000 km. Any suggestions for this 2 problems? I belive the sensor will “break” again next year if i change it now. Thank you 🙏
I am back after one year. The sensor broke again 😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬 i am curious what breaks ? Cand something be permanently fixed on this sensor? I am an electronist. Maybe the dealership will change it for free under waranty though i doubt
Our Mazda CX5 2.2 Liter Diesel has the same sensor, just a bit more expensive. Over 1000 euros, part only. Just replaced it 11 months ago (factory warranty), but need to be replaced again. Any clues why?
Hi did you have any luck finding what was causing the sensor to fail? Do you know the part number and other than the light being on did it effect performance of the car
@@lond111 Hi, No, not definitive. We're thinking that our problem is to many short trips. Especialy at colder temperatures, when there is more condensation. Interesting, thanks. I thought it was NoX at first. Wonder what the description of the code is on IDS.
Alan you should open up the control box just to see if there is any electronics in it or just a very expensive junction box
It's a can bus converter. The box has powerfeed and the signal is processed in the box. Then sent to the other modules via digital messages.
