Did it degaussat @7:09 or was it a resync? Great series, I love the fact that the "Trance Energy" channel is now mostly releasing CRT and old games related content! Cheers from Portugal!
Sony understood what Sega and Nintendo did not. The average age of the gamer by the mid 1990s had rocketed beyond 20. It was no longer 12 years olds waiting to play Mario. Sony knew there was a young adult population with money in their pockets. People that went to nightclubs and had jobs, and wanted a proper sit down console experience at home with their mates and also solo games deeper than the average Sega arcade coin op around then. They nailed the hardware, the software and the marketing. Wipeout is the classic example of that.
@@YASYTU The arcade ports that Sega put onto the Saturn were not what most people wanted any more. As good as they were people were not looking for an arcade experience at home. The days of arcade ports and scrolling shooters/beat em up conversions were fading. The consumer clearly wanted increasingly mature gaming experiences with multi hour depth and story driven mechanics. A quick look at the top 20 best selling Playstation 1 games of all time speaks volumes. Only two resemble traditional arcade games; Tekken 2 and 3.
Average Joe might not be the game connoisseur you think he is. There are other explanations for PlayStation's triumph over Saturn: price, marketing, 3D, "piracy". to name a few. It's not like Sega did not have adult games, or that Sony only had "cool" stuff. Spyro and Crash don't really cater to 20 year olds.
@@sinephase I think it’s a matter of taste. In general I would say shadow masks are better for 3D games while aperture grill looks better on 2D? I play on both this and my Sony BVMs but this one is smaller and very convenient. Also with lovely colours.
Love your channel! I like all these games
Thanks! I will continue to do more of these and do lots of other genres!

I wouldn't call Sega games shallow.

Yeah, I've always said that, 20 year old me couldn't care less about Nintendo, the PlayStation was for my age
Not taking away anything from Sega’s amazing arcade games indeed Sonys strategy to gear towards the adult gamers proved successful indeed.

Would love to see an Wipeout for todays tec.
I have a surprise for you!
Redoubt?
idk why those chunky pixels are on some TVs but not others, just the mask type? My 1989 TV is 27" and doesn't look like that at all
I don’t understand. Do you prefer chunky pixels?
yes LOL pretty sure it's the aperture grille that makes it look like yours. I think mine is slot mask so it appears smoother@@tranceenergy3121
