Agree with you sharkbiteleft! Between you and me and the internet.....I think Brad Shitt himself while trying to type and actually he agrees too! Colin Hay is definitely a GENIUS! :-)
1st- I LOVE LOVE LOVE Colin Hays’ voice above any other. So warm and rich! I could listen to him sing anything! 2nd- I LOVE LOVE LOVE Craig Ferguson. He could interview my mortal enemy and still make me laugh. This was the best 12 minutes I’ve experienced in a long while. ThankYou both!
HUGE fan of men at work when in the charts and a long time after. Still got the CD's. One of my all time fave songs/videos...Who can it be now. Never new Colin Hay was Scottish! What a nice guy, and WOW his voice is as good as it ever was. Time to chase up on his CD back releases and invest in some good music/songs. Thanks Colin, for so many good songs and memories😏👍
couldn't agree more - have seen him live a few times here in Melbourne and he is an amazing performer. great singer, story teller, and funny as all hell!
Colin Hay is a true genius. It has beautiful songs ... The guitar gives sounds of inner universes ... My eternal admiration to the first group that I admired in my life! From Chile A hug ...
Too cool for school is Colin. That voice is soooooooo recognisable. Brings back memories of great times in my life. I was around 20 living in the UK when men at work owned the chats for a few years. Great days.
No point criticising ferguson for talking over the guests, he makes a point of keeping it light. The guests know what they're getting, and if not, they should have done their homework. Colin Hay is aware of this, they bounce well off each other.
If you haven't had a chance to see him live, do it! And bring someone even if they don't know his music. He's a well rounded & naturally gifted entertainer.
Accents are weird things; Colin had a full Australian accent in the big Men At Work years, if you listen to those interviews. I guess if you live away for a long time they can change.. Weird, doesn't matter.. His singing voice is still stellar!!
When I first heard men at work in 81 it was like hearing the Beatles. I spent about 2 years listening constantly to his music that doesn't happen much.
Then about five years later Colin Hay had a gig and no one came to the show. Interesting film about his career/life here: th-cam.com/video/3-OlKCmibuw/w-d-xo.html
We used to spend the Glasgow Fair at 20 Springvale Street; Granny, Granda, Mum, Dad and brother David We used to pass the Mercury on the way down to the beach - great fish suppers. Amazing to think Colin was still living in Saltcoats then...
I find his demeanor and personality very interesting, the way he creates like a comedy act in between his songs extremely talented, hope he never stops.
I like how Craig's accent got thicker the longer he talked to Colin. My wife says my accent does the same thing the further south we drive in Kentucky :).
C A that is very common. I will start to talk with an accent after a few beers in me at the pub. It only happens if I am speaking to one of my Irish or Scottish friends, and I don`t understan why it happens because I was born here in New York, and so were my parents. But uncles and aunts always around during the holidays are from "the old country" and have brogue`s/ accents that get thicker as the night goes on. So, I am guessing that is the reason for it happening to me. Odd thing about the Irish and Scots, is that they take a long time to loosen up around you, for the most part, or the majority of them do anyway. I really don`t understand it...maybe they don`t want to be labeled as foreigners to us, and are for some reason, ashamed. I would never ask someone why he or she keeps to themselves for the most part, or with others over here making a new life for themselves.I think that if they want to tell you why this is, they will do so at an appropriate time.
@@gregorymacdonnell7914 I think that some of us are just natural mimics. Without intending to, I have often started talking with a slight accent after only an hour or so talking to someone. I remember this happening with people from Scotland, Ireland, Romania, Israel, India and several southern accents. In my 20's, I worked a couple years for a man from Israel. He had quite a pronounced accent and, within a few months of being around him, people began asking me what country I was from.
@@cakincaid4415 I think you make a valid point man. I do believe that some of us are much more prone to doing it than others. You and I probably have alot in common. I bet you are a musician, and I bet you have been told by family and friends that you should try acting as well. You did not enjoy school, and you question your government at many points. Am I close?
Saw Colin a few years ago up in WA State and he was absolutely fabulous. Stole the show, and that included Howard Jones and Barenaked Ladies. Love him.
You won't see this the person who posted the brand of guitar...I was reading the threads solely to find out if anyone mentions the type he plays because it has a very intriguing sound....very bass(y) sounding with a beefy overtone...perfect for this song.
dadgad68, Agree big time. Colin doesn’t get the kudos he deserves for being a hell of a guitar player. He gets nods for 2 out of 3, song writing and singing. Some would say 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. Anyone who plays guitar recognises the skill he has. It’s pretty bloody hard to sing and play an instrument at the same time, let alone singing and playing like THAT. He is just an awesome bloke. Would love to have a beer with him.
Colin Hay has oozed talent for 40 years. For how well he does what he does, he is ridiculously overlooked by the industry. In a world of autotune, three chord "songs" and worthless drivel deceptively called 'lyrics', he is so far ahead of that nonsense it's barely a spec in the review mirror. I've watched him since 1983, and like fine wine, he just keeps getting better and better.
Does anybody notice his use of open tuning? He often employs this during his post- Men At Work days. Nice writing and playing. Something my husband does rather often. Game changer!!
Love this man's music. Had a chance to see Colin at the Blues Cafe in Newport, RI many years ago. I didn't go. I feel I missed my one chance to see him live.
Colin Hay is just way too cool. Gotta love that humble genius.
he uses really tasty lyrics. that mind..........................that tone and phrasing has always been special. one of the champs right here.
Agreed , he is an all original singer. His guitar playing goes hand in hand with his singing
he's talented but not a genius, if he's a genius then wtf is paul mccartney or brian wilson?
@The Fireblaster maybe you are the kind of person labelling everyone who's talented as genius
Agree with you sharkbiteleft! Between you and me and the internet.....I think Brad Shitt himself while trying to type and actually he agrees too! Colin Hay is definitely a GENIUS! :-)
Never seen Colin Hay in interviews before. He''s great !! So much fun !!
I have seen him live. He is amazing. I cried with joy, his songs are so beautiful.
I liked Men at Work back in the day, but I love Colin's solo stuff. His songwriting and storytelling are amazing!
Colin Hay has a unique style and attractive voice. I find his stage performance to be soothing and comforting. Thank you.
His voice is still so sick.
i like this song
he’s funny too.
Good god his voice is amazing. He and his group had a big impact in my life.
Colin Hay is such a talent and boy do I miss Craig on late night.
Me too!
Oh my gosh he is so pure. Such a good soul. Absolutely phenomenal
That’s one great musician that has gotten better with age!! Thank you for sharing

Loved Greg and his flute! Quite a loss. Love you and all the guys Colin!!
There is just something about this guy and his voice- LOVE IT!
I love how they're bringing out the Scottish-ness in each other
Met Colin Hay a few times after concerts in Dublin, he’s a great guy, no frills, naturally cool.
Colin is just a great guy, nothing phases him, love him
God, Colin is so naturally funny. He and Craig made a great pair here.
Wow! Keep the music alive, Colin! God bless.
What a fantastic singer/songwriter...epic

Agree. Right behind the Aussies.
He might even be a Scot.

The two best voices of the 80s (both Scots) : Colin Hay & Sheena Easton. No, sorry. I meant Annie Lennox.
First time I have heard this song.. amazing. What a talent.
Love Colin Hay. Legend in my book
I fond his voice very comforting.
What a legend.

One of the great voices
What an iconic voice. Amazing performer.

Such a great song and lyrical content. They don't make em like you or Knopfler anymore.
The word for today is 'talent'.
How i miss you at night Craig!!!
Songs like this is why I end up buying every album he has :)
That was an amazing performance ❤️
great sense of humor...I never knew...never heard him speak...now I like him even more...as if that were possible

Seeing Colin next week in Sydney, Australia. A great singer song writer.
He’s a champion,and a great storyteller 👏👏👏
The mention of Saltcoats takes me back to lunch burgers and coffee at the Melbourne Cafe on Winton Street opposite the Clyde Coast Services office.

met him a couple of times and he is cool. "Maggie" is his best damn tune.
I love how he kept his accent.
I kept mine despite living in England for the last 41 of 63 years so far - I guess it depends how much you feel the need to "fit" in...
