This includes popular weapons like the terra blade and the horsemans blade. However a bunch of more obscure weapons were also effected that people seem to have missed. Today I take a look at 5 weapon buffs which I think deserve more attention. This includes the Starfury, Aqua Scepter, Pulse Bow, Bubblegun and banannarang. You should totally give them all a try now!

Aqua Scepter kinda op now ngl
Water Stronk
Lol i noticed that to i was playing through mage got to the dungeon i was like yoooo this definetly got buffed now it makes sense in progression not half bad against the wall
What website did you use for changelog
Fr sheeesh
The folks who got all 10 of the rangs are now saddened
Not only is the Bananarang better for the fact you get all 10 of them from a single drop, you can now get modifiers on it because it is a single item now
People who farmed 20 blood moons and had there 10 nana rangs turn into one unles they were separated in there own slots are slightly dissapointed but only slightly hehe
Damn, so you can already compensate for the nerf using reforges, well, provided you dont get scammed by that piece of shit goblin
@@danielchin4198 pretty much. The performance is slightly worse in terms of damage boost. Emphasize slightly
@@fancyincubus well, gotta sell those bananas then
as a person that loves boomerangs in videogames this change which also applies to the light discs(even tho they're way more expensive to craft now) is amazing
Another one is the Molotov cocktail. It didn't get changed otherwise, but it now only requires normal gel again instead of pink gel, so it's much more reliable to get. They can actually be obtained incredibly early in the game now, and they are much more viable early game.
isnt it quite good against quite of the few of the pre hardmode bosses? In that case, cactus armour rush+molotov sounds like a great set up for rushing early prehard mode then.
It was already pretty decent, even if limited, but now it's OP.
@@danielchin4198 it's stupid good against wall of flesh
@@danielchin4198 I remember on console, eons ago, I used molotovs to take out the WoF. Dunno if it'd still work as well, but if it does it's a really cheap way to do it
@@iamacatperson7226 they nerfed it pretty hard because of the speedrun strat iirc? But it’s still viable if Im not mistaken. If nothing else, it’ll help deal with hungries
The bubble gun unironically had twice the DPS of the razor blade typhoon prior to its buff, so I can only imagine what an absolute monster it’s become now.
I mean to be fair it’s like the shortest range weapon in existence for its phase of the game, so it’s gotta be ridiculously strong to make it worth it.
it used to be absolutely busted with spectre armor before it’s nerf
In my mage playthrough it honestly instantly replaced Razer blade typhoon because it's so strong now
@@nicksalyga4084 yea. It took me a bit but i defeated duke pre mech and got the bubble gun before you know it your at plantera with that weapon.
One weapon you overlooked is Magnet Sphere. It can now bounce off walls instead of dissipating. Many times when I used it, especially in the dungeon where it originates, it's in a tight location with many blocks and a lot of the times I just ended up having it fizzle out. Now it's a more proper "set and forget" weapon.
oh dang
i dont play mage often but magnet sphere has always been one of my favourite weapons in the game; nice to hear it got a buff
I started using this thing in my most recent game after seeing this and it's INSANE. That thing is actually crazy strong and fires extremely quickly at anything in its range, and now in the right environment it can just sit around and deal comical amounts of damage.
key times:
0:26 - Starfury
1:15 - Pulse Bow
1:53 - Bubble Gun
2:27 - Aqua Scepter
3:12 - Bananarangs
Christmas tree sword was buffed. Thunder Zapper is super good. Storm spear is also pretty good.
Paintball gun is just busted with new autofire toggle-it outperforms minishark.
Wait Christmas tree sword got buffed again?
@@Lennyst Yeah. Projectile base damage is now same as swords damage.
Used to be 0.75x
Anyone else notice the wand of sparkling also does more damage
This will make master mode melee wall of flesh way easier!
The massive buff to the night's edge is really more impactful. It absolutely decimates the wall and the hungry. Combine with lightning boots and a shield of cthulu and it's probably the easiest way to kill wall now behind beenades and the star cannon.
@@apocalypsemvp I can confirm, night’s edge really helped me beat master mode WoF, and I always had the starfury to hit it from farther away if my health was getting low
haha, yeah.
i remember overpreparing to hell (literally) when playing master mode melee with only a starfury, it was shockingly good, but now it's more viable than ever.
@@apocalypsemvp actually the buffed dark lance actually has more single target dps than nights edge, the problem is you need to be closer but it is a pretty significant difference!
Night's edge carried me against the wof with some food buffs
Super Star shooter also got an insane buff, to quote the terraria wiki
The Star Slash now uses static immunity, so its immune frames will no longer block subsequent Star Shots from hitting.
The Star Slash now inflicts 75% of base damage instead of 50%.
Star projectiles no longer instantly expire if shot while the character has its back to a wall.
This weapon could already hold its own until after the cultist, I can't imagine how op it is now.
Starfury buff also is a MASSIVE buff to early-game underground exploration - the stars emit light so you can point to various dark locations around you and illuminate that side of the map without having to spend time to dig over.
I've found almost all my life crystals that way - as well as chests, gemtrees, and even platinum ore on Master Mode.
A buff I haven’t seen mentioned is the Bloody Fork, it has a small ranged beam of light like the Storm Spears lightning bolt.
A shockwave you mean
It also appies to the dark lance (which also inflicts shadowflame) and Gungnir
one indirect buff that was real good imo was the addition of auto fire in settings, this made paintball gun feel so much better.
The 4 horsemen of weapon test if viable or not, according to sockrteez
- group/horde of enemies
- golem
- destroyer of worlds
-duke fishron
The Light Disc's also got in a different way compared to the bananarang. You only need to craft one Light Disc but with 5x the resources for one of the throwables. It can be reforged because of it only being a one stack item too.
also you can throw 6 instead of 5 now
im glad you mentioned the star fury! it's especially great for caving, as you can click around dark areas to uncover caves
it's also incredibly useful for clearing out those cactus boulders in the underground desert!
The new Aqua scepter is absolutely nuts, and is very capable of being the last pre-hardmode magic weapon you use in a playthrough, it's it's only outclassed by hardmode weapons like Golden Shower or Sky Fracture.
found out with the Bananarang myself, was playing with a friend who had never played Terraria before (and he loves it) and we found a Bananarang, he didn't want it and i asked why cus i knew it was good and then i used it and noticed the big change to it and got happy. Its really nice to throw it around you as in spinning the curser around your character, looks cool.
Idk if anyone is talking about this but I found out it on accident yesterday and is easily thr best pre hardmode ax in the game. It's a copper/tin ax, jungle spores and a staff of regrowth I believe where the ingredients, to make the axe of regrowth. It has 150 ax power, does all the staff of regrowth affects, and plans tree seeds after cutting them down. Look at this weapon if you havnt.
I kinda wonder if the 150% axe power thing was accidental? They haven't patched it but I've seen other powerful early tools get knocked down a peg, and the only one that compares to that in pre-hardmode is Lucy the Axe.
@@Argonwolfproject The only thing that compares to that is endgame shit
@@Argonwolfproject i mean does it really matter? Axe power is pretty useless as its only for trees specifically
Man. I gotta tell you something:
Your edition skills are up to discovery Channel. Your methodology and how you introduce stuff is amazing.
I teach English in Brazil and it would be amazing if you made a video explaining your recording and edition process!!

@@AssortedMold268 I was poking fun at a typo, why you calling me a dumbass for?
@@Content_Deleted sorry, seemed like you making fun of him more than poking fun
@@AssortedMold268 Text being difficult to assume intention from aside, you should really think about the person on the other end before jumping straight into namecalling :/
Your videos show some of the weapons people never use, and it really in my playthroughs
Keep up the good work
The quality of these vids are very good. I am surprised that this channel does not have more subscribers. the editing is very good
I feel like the blood thorn buff went pretty under the radar, its really nice to use now
Ahh, Blood Thorn. I always thought it was such a cool weapon, and now peeps who wanna use it don't have to build weird arenas for it!
3:24 Why did it sound like you was going to cry when you were talking about the banana weapon 😂😂
The bananarang… it just makes me emotional 😭
@@sockrteez 😂😂it’s so beautiful it can make a grown man cry
The starfury buff is very nice. You can use the star to light up hidden caves while mining
You forgot to mention that the Bananarang can roll modifiers now, making the DPS basically the same as before. It's way easier to obtain now though.
Very good point!
@@sockrteez legendary bananarang
On my first and current playthrough I had the starfury early game and it wasn’t just a good melee, but when exploring caves you could use the falling stars to find hidden caves that weren’t directly connected to the cave you were In, and it would even update it to show on your map.
I just used the bananarang in my most recent play through to beat the twins and skeletron prime. I really like it.
Finally the Aqua Scepter feels powerful enough. It always felt weak and useless to me, but now it’s a go-to weapon for pre-hardmode.
The magnet sphere recieved a change too, now It bounces of block instead of dissapearing
i didnt even know the starfury was buffed when i got my hands on it, and was pleasantly surprised, it made traversing the underground jungle early game an absolute breeze with the ability to keep my distance from enemies while whittling them down, super handy and an absolute priority for any melee playthrough. the underground jungle is somewhere i generally avoid until im more equipped, the starfury changes that for me, 10/10 weapon, also cant wait to try the aqua scepter, as im not a fan of mage very much especially in prehardmode, but having a very strong prehardmode mage weapon in the form of the aqua scepter might make me play mage more often
now duke fishron doesnt have anymore video ideas
Very high quality videos, I’m so happy to have stumbled upon your channel.
I have fifteen hundred hours in terraria and I have literally never seen the pulse bow with my own eyes, being made available earlier on is going to help, but damn it still should be much easier to get
Traveling Merchant now sells paintings in a separate slot, so non-paintings each have a bit better chance of appearing. There's also an item you can consume to permanently increase his available wares by 1 slot but I forget what it's called.
@@Argonwolfproject peddler's satchel
I can't believe I didn't even notice that the star fury got buffed when I used it lol.
one which i have seen no one talk about is the Stellar Tune. It now seems to have a faster, longer range when comparing it to memory, i would like to be fact checked on this but honestly it made a weapon that was already viable post moonlord even better
Love the fact that a month after i post this comment he made a video on it. Great Weapon!
If I got a nickel for every time the Star Fury got reworked I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
it's good*
I love the buff to the bananarang. It feels more powerful to use than Light disc tbh
Never thought I’d be wanting to pick up an aqua scepter.
I used aqua sceptor in a recent run as a ranger and felt the power instantly. It didn't feel usual because last time I had used it was prior to this update, but a great weapon and I'm going to do a mage playthrough soon with it,
been playing the Everything seed in the past couple days and the aqua scepter is INSANELY buffed there, with base damage at around 100, with armor buffs and Mythical status it sits at 2997 dps. I hope this was intentional because its single-handedly carried me past the mech bosses so far and it has been the strongest weapon ive encountered in this run yet
i did a mostly melee playthrough a while ago but didnt have luck finding the starfury until way late; partially because it was the dont dig up seed; nice to see it get a buff
also; since ive been doing dont dig up and now im doing the zenith seed; its so weird seeing the eye of cthulhu fight in an arena on the surface instead of in the underworld
the buffs to both the bananarang and light discs is really really nice though and makes them genuinely really good options of melee. i reckon they were both already good but i never really used them that much; but mostly i think the fact theyre reforgable now just really adds to them
i didnt use the bananarang but if i took the time to grind for it im sure it would have came in really really nicely as an alternative to the light discs that is obtainable pre-mech
damn the bubble gun helped me farm fishron so easy within a minute, running around using the furry mount... it's so damn good
Last time I used the aqua scepter was in 1.2
Flamethrower buffs were less than subtle, but still VERY welcome
Especially with the new shroomite Helmet change, buffing all weapons not considered a gun or bow, including flamethrowers, dart guns, and I’d assume throwing weapons. That specific Shroomite helmet now buffs elf melters damage.
Love these videos it makes me so much more informed on the game keep doing what you do
It's important to note that the Bananarang no longer stacking also means it can have modifiers...so the 10 base damage "nerf" isn't even really a nerf at all if it has a decent modifier.
i got the bananarang as soon as i entered hardmode while farming sanguine staff and my god is it insane it's so strong now
This is such a big help so that I can use this weapons now, I am subscribe to your channel now :)
I'm so glad about the bubble gun buff. It is now a viable weapon for other uses besides moon events. The only thing it needed was that range. It is now perfect.
also love how the bananarang damage nerf is easily more than set off by putting a reforge on it.
I use the Starfury as an early game exploration tool, while your looking for chests and life crystals
I still kind of find the starfury a little underwhelming. Like, sure, its DPS is pretty good, but it’s also somewhat awkward to use and gets outclassed by the blade of grass.
Aqua Scepter buff POG!! I love this thing for some reason I myself do not know of.
I also always thought the Aqua Septer was underrated. It’s crazy that they buffed it so much.
hearing sock say "busted" has made my year
Light discs got the same single item treatment as the bananas, both now being able to obtain modifiers
You should talk about the blade of grass it is great for pre hard mode
Bubble gun and bananarang has always been my favorite weapons along side with death sickle
Aqua Scepter rivals Night's Edge for dps but at range keeping you safer :)
The star fury used to be extremely annoying when using underground. But now it’s one of my favourite pre-hard mode swords now. Second place to nights edge, because of its buff
i spent so dang long getting all 10 bananarangs on my melee play through, kind of a kick in the shin with this update.
Now we need a comparison video of WoF boss fight using starfury and nightedge.
I LOVE to play mage, despite its harsh start,my brother is more of a tank meele so he noticed the buff on the star fury which he was thankful for,and I noticed the aqua scepter was better than usual which is awsome because I hardly used it after seeing other weapons I had were better
Don't forget light disc got the same kind of buff as bananarang, AND both are reforgeable now!
Been doing a mage playthrough and aqaua sceptre is so usefull currently (just beat wof) it's great for dealing with some of the early hardmode enemies, any enemies that are more tanky I can just use magic dagger for a higher damage at the cost of more mana
the buffed starfury is great!
I noticed a good few of these fairly early in 1.4.4. I'm looking out for my obscure weapons
Cool, can you please do a video on the changes made by the “dont dig up” seed
I remember playing terraria 1.2 mobile and absolutely loving water scepter! Thanks to it I killed eye of cthulhu for the first time :)
But aqua sceptre is post skeleton...
@@trogdor420 yes I know, and It was my first boss to kill because at that time I thought he was easier than the eye lol
once you get the bubble gun you can shred plantera with it if your having trouble with her
Man i love your thumbnails
The venus magnum its now automatical weapon :D
My top 1 buff is Gungnir, now it has a shockwave that scales with attack speed
That also applies to the dark lance and rotted fork
Finally, in order to inflict the maximum possible damage with bubble gun isn't necessary to go close to the enemy. It's really op with another stationary magic
Bubble gun is the most underrated weapon fr, its actually really good even before the buffs came
As Melee player mostly (90 % of my playtime of terraria)
Starfury buff was super solid so now you can deal with WoF easier in master difficulty
It is still hard but now it is now more consistently easier
Start with Starfury, then when WoF Speeds up, switch to newly Buffed Nigh's Edge for finish
This is super consistent way to deal with boss if you do not have beenades or refuse to use them like i do
Only if my old self would've known the bananarang would drop all 10 at once and not grind half a quarter of the playthrough
You can also use the Starfury to find caves by lighting them up
Now Blood Rain Bow needs that Starfury treatment.
I am like a underground dwarf so you can imagine how useless Blood Rain Bow is for me even though I would like to use it
2:38 i first encountered it in 1.2 or maybe EARLY 1.3 because it could only go 10 blocks and took awhile to kill basic enemies
probably 1.2 because you have a grid crafting table menu and iirc 4 accessorie slots
I guess in the end, a majority of players have beaten moon lord which makes the other more moon lord weapons obsolete. The change to minions makes the laser portal stronger than almost everything. Now I can farm moon lord without pressing a single button, unbuffed.
Bubblegun is amazing.
Bananarangs can carry you through twins and prime
I’m really surprised Golden Shower got a damage buff. I always used it for the debuff and not the damage, but not it’s better for that, too
These video are so well made!
I probably was the only one here who wanted the pulse bow to be buffed.
nah fam, one of my fav weapons
aqua scepter needed that in order to compete with the almighty waterbolt.
dont forget modifiers on bananarang, so the dmg decrease is compensated somewhat
Idk if Magic misile got buff or flamelash got nerfed, but both seams to have the same damage now.
The bubble gun was already busted before this update, people just slept on it because of razorblade typhoon
I actually used the bubble gun for close encounters it's decent as a sort "melee" mage weapon.
Great video!
Can't believe I'm seriously considering the aqua scepter over the water bolt rn.
Well I’m glad the pulse bow got some exposure, it’s one of the cooler bows imho
I feel like instead of being sold by the traveling merchant, the pulse bow should have been sold by the cyborg for more consistancy in obtaining it, as i hardly ever see it appear when the traveling merchant arrives.
Either that or the traveling merchant should have a chance to drop it when you kill him
Sockz is the best.
Hahaha
I liked the video as soon as he said "I always though the aqua scepter was kinda underrated."
This channel gets better and better!
When the video has been out for 2 mins and there's 100 comments but the video is 4 mins long.
the bubble gun is the best weapon to fight duke fishron if you're farming him
triple boomerangs, enchanted boomerang + ice boomerang + mushrook boomerang
