Great videos! I've found that supplementing their meals with hydrolyzed collagen powder makes a big difference. Around 2/3 level teaspoon per day for a 10 pound dog. I think they heal much faster and more completely and become more resilient also. I noticed subtle results after a couple weeks but after six weeks the changes were obvious.
Good tip. Just naturally I’ve been massaging it with fingers hitting the sides of joints. Then I stretch back legs out. Been doing it for few months and noticed improvement. Also collagen and glucosamine supplement is a must.
My 4 yr dog just had spinal surgery because he lost his usage of his hind legs down. We are getting him tomorrow. I feel overwhelmed and am scared. Thank you.
My female Malinois saw a bird and she quickly stood up to chase it. She stood up so abruptly that she injured herself and was temp paralyzed for 1 hour in the back legs and tale. We went straight to the vet and he told us to give her anti-inflammatory drugs and wait for it to improve. She is doing better now, she walks and moves her tail, but she runs very strangely, she uses both legs at the same time, she tends to slightly rotate her whole back body towards the left and she can't raise her tail all the way high-up to the sky as she used to (she is a very proud dog). I can't do x-rays etc. and I am learning massages and exercises to help her, but without diagnosis I don't know what her condition is. She is always so happy so it is difficult for me to understand where the pain is. I just do all the techniques for back pain, hip problems and IVDD. Thank you for your videos, you help us immensely!
I never noticed my boy and he's my life has fur between his pads so much he slipped tonight so I'm here b he has spinal Stenosis. HD i had no problem with. We swam etc. But this is rough. Say a prayer for us please.
MRSI diagnosed grade 5 IVDD (no peep pain sensation) in my 5yo mini Daxie. He had surgery 7 days ago and is still completely paralysed in his legs and entire rear end. Lots of rehab, physio and hydrotherapy to come. I'm terrified he will never regain the use of his legs. 😢
Hey. Can you please make an update? Is he ok now??? I have a 5 years old frenchie and he got paralyzed in type 2-3. And now we are in 4th day after surgery and he is paralyzed his legs. Before surgery he could walk around 😢
@christina_k also, your Frenchie may seem worse so soon after surgery as his op site will have swelling which presses on his spinal cord, so that should settle down.
my dog is suffering IVDD (level 1~2). the doctor told my dog to stay calm/rest for 2 weeks. is that okay if I do this massage to my dog? Or should I leave him alone and rest for the full 2 weeks to heal?
My vet said massage and stretching are really good things. Dont give up! My girl is fighting. we are doing everything we can do to get her walking again!
It may have seemed like once incident but she may have had HD already. Seimming is good. All thr other things. Keep an eye out on thd psoaz especially. Massage stretch laser therapy.
Thank you so much for this video! It was informative and understandable, and a good length. I sincerely appreciate your suggestions for those of us who need to try our best to help our pets at home. I’d always prefer to go to a veterinarian, but sometimes it’s not possible-and that’s heartbreaking. My 15 year old Bichon jumped off of a bed onto hard tile two years ago. His vet did an ex-ray that showed a mild issue with his spine. She gave him anti-inflamatories and he has been great until recently. He’s having the same symptoms now, so I feel pretty confident trying anti-inflamatories and rest for now. Really, thank you so very much for this information!
Hey! I’m glad your baby is doing better, just today I had similar issue with mine Siberian Husky, he jumped a few flights of stairs down and landed hard on my wood floor, his rear end is completely paralyzed & he won’t feel anything. I Just got back from the vets and besides the surgery witch was sadly extremely out of our budget, he recommended home Medications, was wondering if the Anti-inflammatory is an option ican buy online or would I have to strictly get it from the vet? Thank you so much in advance
@@julioalcantara1485Awe, I’m so sorry you pup is hurt! The surgery is out of budget for me as well, and my vet said the outcomes aren’t great anyway. Mine is on prescription from the vet.
My little chi has Ivdd in the neck area. Just had surgery two weeks Wednesday. She is on four weeks crate recovery then gradual movement on her own. However, at this point she cannot stand, does not walk. We were told that she has a 90 percent chance of coming back to us as before but the last two weeks as well as the prior two weeks of constant pain has made it difficult. Crushes my husband and I to see her this way. Any suggestions for the neck area would be appreciated.
If it's an acute aggravation, I would wait until the inflammatory response subsides. Therefore if they are still sensitive to the area of touch then hold off.
@@k9activehealth he fell off the bed last Friday tiny senior chihuahua who was already using a wheelie from an injury 1 year ago this time he scooped himself off the bed by accident(carpet floor) couple places I touch he’s sensitive to middle bottom of spine and above the soulder hes not unable to stand on his wheelie I have to spoon feed and use seringue for water which he kinda chokes to swallow 😔 it’s no looking good but I’m not giving up last time looked like he was gonna die but he made it. Wow. The insurance company is not covering her for 30 to 40 thousand dollars of this. What trash insurance company is that. People should march in the streets for that

Why can’t you do X rays or an MRI?
they don't provide these services where I live, I would have to travel to the capital, which is very far away. @@jonathanamigon9067

How soon after injury can we start doing exercises at home like moving their legs and massaging their back?
