Thats wonderful that you found your passion for theater while in high school. I try and remind my friends and family (especially the younger ones) that in anything they want to pursue in life whether it be Theater, Science, or whatever, they must do with a passion or else there will be no happiness, contentment, or fulfillment in that part of your life.

Loved hearing your story, Cari...very inspiring! Our two youngest granddaughters are very active in theater arts. The older of the two started taking lessons in folklorico dancing while she was in elementary school. Her father is Hispanic and I think some of her relatives got her involved. She did several performances with her group and enjoyed it so very much. Then the younger granddaughter wanted to take lessons also. She, too, performed quite extensively. They then became interested in theater arts. One of the plays they were both in was The Sound of Music. They both are in high school now and attend a school that is geared towards theater arts. So they are learning all aspects of the theater and enjoying it very much. We have not been able to see any of their performances yet have been able to see videos that have been made for some of their performances. It is an awesome experience for young people who have the opportunity to do something that they have a great passion about learning. Thank you Cari for the part you play to make this happen for the students whom you teach and direct.

Hi Cari, Thank you for sharing. Do you have dates for when you will be doing your shows on Oahu? If not, please let us know. I happen to be here on the island now. Just got back after being in Portland for a week.

Cari thank you. I was active in drama at Kamehameha schools and in 1970 went to university of Portland to major in theater. Unfortunately the theater had burned down before that and the drama program did not exist. Good thing a new performing arts facility was erected years after I graduated in social sciences. You are such an inspiration and hard worker.

Wow, I didn't know that the theater burned down and they had to build a new one! I'm thankful that I was able to major in drama there!

This is so cool and what timing after graduation to start up a program back home. I enjoy watching plays but I’ve never thought to be part of it besides being on the music end. 😊

The music end is a wonderful part to play in a theatrical production! My sister Jenny is a musician as well!
