I hope that Ash(has Primeape), Morrison(has Girafarig) and Alain(has Bisharp) appear in the Pokémon Horizons since they have a Pokémon with a Gen 9 evolution.
I watched the older generations while XY was out, since my nephew was really into it, and I started to enjoy the anime while babysitting. I never found Max to be as annoying as everyone says. Siblings are annoying, and this is the first time we saw the sibling dynamic in the group, not just an episode here or there with Misty and her sisters. He also grew from booksmart about pokemon to having hands on experience with care, grooming, and training pokemon. Morrison- I felt like if he would have completely thrown in the towel in the tournament, Ash would have stopped being his friend. Maybe that could have been interesting storyline if it happened earlier in the region; losing a friend then gaining him back. Yeah, Ash wants to win, and he wants his friends to win, too. Harley- as a character, he's good and pushes May to grow as a coordinator; as a person, I'd hate to know someone like this. Definitely a top rival.
YESSIR! Hoenn content in 2024 just proves I'm living in the best timeline! Banger video, Lumi. AG suffers from being the middle child between the iconic/nostalgic OS and the infamous DP. But it truly gave us the fundamentals that all other Pokémon series would follow format wise.
Just found your channel and GREAT Video LumiosePost!!! I LOVE Advanced Generation too!! I love how Ash was a Middle-Ground between the Goofball he was in Kanto and Johto and the strong battler and trainer people seem to like a lot in XY. I love his Hoenn Team, and they're all filled with such great personalities. Corphish might be my favourite Ash Water-Type and the one Water-Type Ash has that hasn't evolved I'm okay with it not evolving. Swellow might be my second favourite Ash Flying-Type after Gliscor. Torkoal's overhated. Seeing Glalie freeze Ash and him getting annoyed, and my boi Aipom stealing Ash's hat and Ash getting annoy both have SUCH charm (Hot take: Ash trading Aipom to Dawn was WAY MORE heartbreaking for me than Ash releasing Greninja. I can understand why the trade was done, but it was hard for me to accept after several moments of the strong bond Ash had with his Aipom throughout Battle Frontier and the first season of DP, with Ash even worried Aipom would leave him for Team Rocket, or when Ash was willing to give up his rematch with Brandon to stay with Aipom if it became king of a town). And of course, Sceptile. Sceptile's my second favourite of ALL of Ash's Aces (If we were to consider Sceptile an Ace). Infernape being my favourite. Plus, the strong bond Ash had built with Sceptile is a big reason why, from his Gym Battle with Norman where Sceptile (as a Grovyle) refused to give up on Ash when its health was low and wanted to continue battling, to before his Frontier Battle with Spencer, where Ash and Sceptile are alone in the forest of Beedrill, and Ash protects Sceptile with all his might helped Sceptile regain his confidence from his broken heart. I know it's controversial to have Infernape and Sceptile as my favourite of Ash's Aces, since people would have Charizard and Greninja as their favourites, but I feel the way I feel. The Gym Battles were AMAZING, with the ones against Brawly, Norman and Winona being some of my favourite in the ENTIRE Anime. I actually enjoy the Contests more than most people. First, you need to keep in mind in both Hoenn and Kanto, May didn't compete in as many Contests as Dawn did in Sinnoh before the Hoenn and Kanto Grand Festivals, and they helped May gain more confidence in herself as a person and a Co-ordinator. It also helped that Drew and Harley were great rivals for May that she needed to overcome both on a battling and emotional level, as both Drew and Harley often abused her. Drew on a verbal level, and Harley on an evil level. Heck, I compare May's battle with Drew at the Hoenn Grand Festival to Ash's full-on battle with Paul at Lake Acuity and May's comeback/victory over Drew at the Kanto Grand Frestival to Ash's comeback/victory over Paul at the Sinnoh League (And even the rivalry May had with Drew I compare to Ash's rivalries with Gary, Paul and Trip). Ntm, after defeating Drew in the Kanto Grand Festival, she finally earned his proper respect like how Ash did with Gary and Paul. In a way, Drew was May's Gary. And I honestly really enjoy the Hoenn League. Is it a bit of a shame Ash didn't have that "Major Rival" in AG? Yes (I don't consider Morrison a Main Rival, even though I enjoy his character, but he's not a Top Tier Rival). But I think I can understand why the AG Writers didn't give him one: the Johto League had concluded the rivalry between Ash and Gary in an great way, and this was a rivalry we had followed since the very beginning of the Anime, so probably the writers wanted to give Ash a break from having that "Major Rival" trope for a while to let him breath a bit and to not try and measure up to the Ash/Gary Rivalry so soon after, which IMO paid off because by the following Series, Diamond and Pearl, we had gotten that break and got the Ash/Paul Rivalry, which was FANTASTIC (I sometimes feel maybe Black and White should've also given Ash a break from having a Major Rival, even though I don't hate Trip and think he had the potential to be a great rival). Plus, the Hoenn League gave Ash opponents whose battling styles he wasn't too familiar with, while showing his ability to overcome these surprising and challenging odds. In fact, Ash's battle against Katie in the Hoenn League is one of my favourite battles because of this. And I still think he and Pikachu put up a very good fight against Tyson and his Meowth, even if they had ended up losing to them, Meowth clearly took a lot of damage from Pikachu. Speaking of which, this was the first league in which in his final battle, Pikachu, his first partner, was his last hope, while before it was always Charizard, and Pikachu being Ash's final hope in his final battle in the Hoenn League carried over into both the Sinnoh and (for better, or for worse) Unova Leagues. It was a shame they gave it to Greninja in the Kalos League (Hence why I'm okay with/indifferent to Ash losing in the Kalos League), but at least they gave it back to Pikachu in the Masters 8 Tournament in Journeys. Brock is great as always, and his Marshtomp may be my second favourite of all of Brock's Pokémon (Croagunk being my favourite of course). Max I think is overhated. He might not be an S-Tier Companion like Brock, Dawn or his sister, and I wouldn't necessarily rank him above Misty, but I enjoyed him and his dynamic with May. Speaking of his sister, like you, May is my favourite Pokegirl OF ALL-TIME! I love Dawn and Misty, and, admittedly, Iris has grown on me, and Lillie and Mallow were a couple of the few things that stood out to me in Sun and Moon, but May comes up on top for me for similar reasons why Infernape's my favourite of Ash's Fire Types: because of her compelling journey. She went from a newbie/rookie trainer, daughter of a Gym Leader, who didn't like Pokémon, lacking confidence in herself as a trainer, to a strong, determined girl who learnt to love Pokémon through the kindness Pikachu had shown her, and the affection her Torchic and Wurmple had given her. If you go back to when she went to Professor Birch's Lab, Torchic had run up to her and rubbed its head next to her leg in an affectionate way. I'd say Torchic chose her just as much as she chose Torchic. Same with her Bulbasaur and Squirtle. I love the growth she has with Max, as it shows that Max may be a bit bratty to her sometimes, but they do truly care for each other. And I think her strong and amazing bond with Ash is very underrated. It's for these reasons why, especially rewatching it recently like you had, I honestly LOVE the Advanced Generation Anime and it's actually tied with Diamond and Pearl for my favourite Pokémon Anime. Also, as much as I love the Lucario Movie, the Manaphy one is my favourite Pokémon movie ever, including Detective Pikachu and the Gen 4-8 Anime Movies.
I actually reviewed this series myself last year as well and this series is amazing! Absolutely love it! It’s not my fav as that title goes to DP, cuz that series is PEAK! But I really do enjoy AG. It’s really got so many things it uniquely does and of course it gave us one of the best seasons ever in Pokémon with one of the best themes - Battle Frontier! Really good continuation of Ash’s story!
AG was so good that it was there formula for success of DP and XY The wasting of Nicholai and Guy as League rivals was disappointing At least could have had them as Ash's single and double battle opponents and still have the others for his full battles
When you said Ash sounded like A smoker I laughed so hard and it's true to and the thing I hate the most about the Advanced series is that they said Arbok EVOLVED INTO SEVIPER like what the heck
Gen 3 was peak ngl. The games were great, the anime was great, the mons were great. This peak carried to Gen 4, and Gen 5 after it, and it was all downhill from there. Gen 6 wasn't terrible, but it was the beginning of the trek down the mountain, and SM was basically that trek reaching mach 8. Since then, I've been waiting for the games to return to peak, but they just keep getting farther and farther from it.

On the voice actor change, ash has three voice actors. veronica taylor is the first, Sarah is the third, and then there is a second actor who is also female. I forget her name. I grew up with Veronica Taylor and Sarah as ash’s voice actors. All of ash’s English voice actors are female. Ash was recasts twice for the voice after veronica taylor. I prefer the DP anime, x and y anime, parts of journeys and sun and moon. I have seen all of the Pokémon anime throughout besides sun and moon and journeys since I was on break during sun and moon and watched until sun and moon episode 10, 11, or 12 before I was 20 in 2017. I do know the Pokémon ash uses in alolan anime and in journeys dispite me being on break and not watching as much in 2017 to 2022 since I was in college and still am in college at the moment. I have also watched almost all of the Pokémon movies except for a few and I can count on one hand that I haven’t seen. You are in for a treat for the DP anime. Especially the gym battles in the DP anime, the contests, counter shield, of course Paul, ash’s pokemon in the DP anime, and the gen 4 movies which are some of my favorite movies. I believe the DP anime is very better than the AG anime. I have watched the Pokémon anime and the Pokémon movies when I was three in 2000 up until now with pokemon horizons as a 27 year old. If I had to rank the pokemon anime, it would be x and y, DP, sun and moon, AG, johto, Pokémon journeys, orange islands, and the indigo league. This is all excluding pokemon horizons since it’s still airing at this current moment but horizons when be up there like third or second before or after DP. How I got into pokemon was because of the Pokémon anime in 2000 because I didn’t know about the games yet. A year later in 2001, is when I would first play video games when I was four on the original grey gameboy and then on my blue gameboy advanced SP. I learned about the games with gen 4 with diamond in 2007. I remember the first time I heard and saw pokemon abilities was the gym battle with ash vs Norman. Since 2000, there have been many times and moments that I have been on the edge of my seat or I’m just sitting down on the floor just watching the anime. The Pokémon anime taught me my English, more of my colors even though I also learned my colors while in target with my mom either as a baby or a kid, and more all before I started school and during me still being in elementary, middle, and high school. Some of my favorite Pokémon movies were movie 3, movie 5, all of the gen 4 movies, movie 2, and a few other pokemon movies. I still say one of the worst characters in the anime would be Cameron in the black and white anime for many reasons. My bad for the long comment. I can’t talk about the Pokémon anime without typing a long comment since I’ve had a 24 years relationship with watching the Pokémon anime. Any special Pokémon spin-off anime, I have seen as a kid into a teen then as an adult. I like some ash’s pokemon in hoenn, like sceptile and swellow the regional bird in Hoenn that ash’s uses, an and ash’s ice hoenn ice type in Hoenn. I however dislike ash’s torkoal a lot. I believe the DP anime, and x and y are much better than AG for many reasons. The gym battles would be one of those reasons.

Yes and No, my opinion is it start from the Battle Frontier Ark and ends in the to final Episode from DP, that is Peak Pkmn Anime
Just wait until you see one of Dawn’s rivals. She gives Harley vibes in a way. You’ll kinda see it when you get there.
