  • It’s the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness! Disneyland’s Big Thunder Mountain has thrilled countless millions of guests in its many incarnations all over the world, but having spent my entire life growing up near Big Thunder Mountain in Anaheim, I thought since I’m in Utah, why not try to go see the real-life inspiration for the attraction! I was expecting to see Hoodoos, what I wasn’t expecting was to find so many other things along the way! From the “Mormon Emperor’s” house to Fred Flinstone’s car, the Desert Yosemite and a shop that REALLY Rocks, Bones of a strange beast, 100-year-old wedding cake, 72 year old bacon, and THOUSAND year old corn! It turns out the Beehive State is one interesting place to travel through!

speaking of handcarts, when I was 14 I got to go on a mock pioneer trek, where we packed 4 days worth of necessities into a handcart and pulled it in the wilderness outside of nyssa, oregon. it was one of the most amazing, humbling and most educational experiences of my life.

THIS is probably the most incredible place I have ever visited. I was in awe at that climb. We came in from the bottom and hiked up. Seeing those two redwoods as centennials guarding the hidden entrance to the ascension was breathtaking. BUT, climbing those stairs and coming into view of those switchbacks and staring up at it from the bottom for the first time is something I will never forget. The entire canyon was beyond beautiful. What a lovely memory and fun seeing you discover it for the first time too! It's one of the few places I have visited before you! Cannot wait for more. Utah is a gorgeous state. You'll really enjoy it! Drive safe! Have fun! a

I've been to Utah a few times now for vacationing. I can't say enough how much I love it there. If my field of work was there, I would quit here, pack up and leave today to live there. So hopefully when I retire, we will settle down around Virgin, LaVerkin or somewhere in that vicinity. The people are the nicest, friendliest folks we have ever encountered on all our travels. It feels like home.

Justin...thanks for visiting the great state of Utah! That is my home state. I live in Arizona now, but I grew up in Provo (45 minutes south of Salt Lake City) in the shadows of the Brigham Young University football stadium. The beauty of Utah is something that truly has to be seen to be believed. You definitely need to go back to Zion National Park! It is my favorite national park in the state (and we have a few!). Also, I always appreciate your open mind when learning about different cultures. The Mormon culture has a very rich history, and is SO misunderstood by people. I was born and raised in the religion and continue to take a part in it to this day. Also, there has always been a joke (but it is so true!) that Mormons are the biggest Disney/Disneyland fans on earth! If I am any kind of example, then it is true! We LOVE our Disney!!!
    Happy trails, my friend! :)

I live in Utah and thoroughly enjoyed this video and look forward to the next one, to see what else you have planned while you are here. I enjoy your enthusiasm, your thirst for knowledge and your adventurous spirit. I learned several things from this video and have been inspired to check out a couple of the locations you went to, that I have never been. As you mentioned you are moving north, I would like to suggest Antelope Island, The Great Salt Lake, Promontory Point and Vernal. I look forward to your take on where you will visit. Keep up the great work and have a great trip!

I think why us Dutch and other people from outside the USA go so often to the United Stated National Parks is at least for us we learn a about it in school a bit and here in particular there was a kids show where one of the seasons was fully centered around the USA en fully recorded there. Especially featuring The national parks on the west coast as well as the Orlando Theme Parks. Its why I love the countryside and amusement parks of your country so much.
