Yay for finishing!!! I love your hexagons, too. I recently frogged a cardigan back to past the armpits, and I’m gathering the courage to dive back in for another try. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you for some normalness. I am surprised this didn't stay in the naughty corner perminately! We done for going back to it because it was definitely worth it :)
Thumbs up! Beautiful work. I like to hear project notes - it's OK to frog and reknit if you are happy with the final project! You make me feel bad, I cast on my first sweater 2 years ago and haven't finished the body yet...well, I probably don't work on it often enough. But also a LOT of garter stitch, will be looking for a more textured project next. Cheers!
It's very beautiful even if it took a while for you to finish with the frogging and re-knitting! I just bought the pattern today and will wait until the summer to start it! :)
I like your shelving! My w&h is currently in the naughty corner, and I'm not even using garter, I'm doing it all in stockinette (per other users' notes) I'd trawled through and taken TONS of notes....but clearly not enough. THanks for tips on splitting for sleeves etc, when I take it out of the naughty corner, I will try and figure it out again..
OMG well done. The last thing you want is hexagons in your armpits! You really suit it. Do you think, in future the project diaries will influence your rate of project finishes?
Have you checked out Elizabeth Zimmerman I believe she has a formula for the sleeve Stitches based on the number of stitches in the body of the sweater
Why didn’t you use your spun yarn for this project ? Do you make jumpers /sweaters with your spun yarn? How do you know how much fleece you need to by to spin and knit a sweater
I’m actually knitting a handspun sweater at the moment but I also like to buy sweater quantities of yarn sometimes. Several reasons for this: supporting small businesses, more instant gratification than spinning it and also because I prefer primarily solid colour sweaters and solid colours can be a bit of a mental slog to spin in large quantities. As for how much fleece... the only way to know for sure is to sample, work out the yards per pound/metres per kilo and then compare that to the amount required for whatever pattern you’re using. If you’re using raw fleece you also need to take into account wastage in the processing and the weight of dirt/lanolin you lose during scouring. For commercially prepared tops if I’m not sure exactly what pattern I’ll use I’ll go with a ballpark figure of 100-120g for socks, 300g for a shawl, 600-800g for a basic sweater. Your mileage may vary!
Sorry me again... I hope you can help as I'm stuck on the transition from Yoke part 1 to Yoke part 2 when i'm going around in groups of 14 stitches and now the pattern asks to go to 3 repeats of 14 and one of 16...when I get to the end of the row there's an odd number of stitches left and no reference to the fact. It just doesn't look like it's going to work... thank you so much
Hmm… I don’t remember having any issues there. Looking at the pattern it looks like you should have a multiple of 64st before working round 1 of section 2 so I’d start by double-checking your stitch count. It’s really 4 lots of 16 stitches as you’ve got the wrapped stitches on either side of the 14st repeats as well. Does that help? If not it might be worth emailing the support address on the last page of the pattern.
@@TinyFibreStudio Thanks once again for responding! I did the first row exactly as stated even though it feels odd and out of step with the previous row, then with a random number of stitches at the end it just didn't feel right so I stopped. I have contacted them on email but they just send a FAQs list..... sometimes I figure it out after a couple of tries . I will definitely buy you that coffee now... you are much appreciated!
Uh oh! From what I can remember you have two elongated stitches next to each other (created in round 1) and then they split on row 6 with one going to the left and one to the right. Does that help?
Hi Leah, I use Hiya Hiya steel sharp interchangeable needles which suit my preferences really well. I like the super-slick, very pointy needles and flexible cables (the fact that they’re turquoise cables doesn’t hurt!).
Do these needles have swivel and if so, does the join catch thin yarn? I’m using Lantern moon on a slightly too short cable (waiting to buy a longer one) and the joints catch every round.
Thank you for showing all your challenges with this pattern. I do actually think the pattern needs work. You’re one of many experienced knitters on youtube who had similar problems with this sweater.

Love your mods to this - the asymmetrical hexagons look really cool.
This was really helpful!! You did a great job explaining and giving examples and videos of what were the problems. Thanks all much!
It's lovely...and a really good color for you. Kudos for sticking with it!
Thank you Kathleen!
Thank you for sharing this experience. Good on you to complete despite the challenges. The colour is 😊
I am loving the project diaries

Looks great, congrats on sticking with it ! Wow, a lot of work.

The sweater is beautiful
Thanks for that just planning a jumper in stripes with homespun yarn, so good to get a reminder of some of the issues involved.

Oh dear! I feel your pain! Mine was in and out of the naughty corner so many times. Totally worth it now it’s done but the journey was... interesting!

I adore your project diaries. Which do you prefer for a jumper - 4 ply or (?)
I’m confused on row 6. Am I splitting the elongated stitch? The instructions isn’t very clear

I'm stuck on Row 6 trying to figure out how to go from groups of 4 to 2... does the elongated stitch juat go in one direction at this stage?

@@TinyFibreStudio It does help - thank you so much for responding. I'm an experienced knitter but this is new to me!
Hi Becks! what needles are you using and why do you like them?

Your sweater looks lovely but I would have thrown it out of the window!
😂😂😂 Yeah, it goes in the naughty corner when I reach the ‘throwing it out of the window’ stage!
Tiny Fibre Studio I forgot to say your shelving system looks amazing
