  • Explore the remarkable story of Leonard Percival Howell, the trailblazer of the Rastafari movement, in our latest documentary, "The Man Who Created Rastafarianism." Born on June 16, 1898, in Clarendon, Jamaica, Howell emerged as one of the earliest and most influential preachers of the Rastafari faith, often hailed as "The First Rasta."
This video delves deep into Howell's life, from his early days in an Anglican family to his profound declarations that Ras Tafari Makonnen, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, was the "Messiah returned to earth." His sermons and the publication of "The Promised Key" sparked controversy and led to his imprisonment yet fuelled the growth of the Rastafari movement.
Discover how Howell's relentless fight against colonialism and his efforts to empower black people resonated globally, making him a significant figure in anti-colonial movements. We also explore the establishment of Pinnacle, a commune that became a sanctuary for Rastafari followers and a symbol of Howell's vision.
Howell's life was marked by his unyielding advocacy for black supremacy to combat colonial oppression, his role in founding the Ethiopian Salvation Society, and his impact on future generations as a mentor within the Rastafari community. Despite facing significant persecution, including repeated arrests and a stint in a mental asylum, Howell's teachings and community efforts left an indelible mark in Jamaica and the world.
Join us as we honour the legacy of a man whose vision transcended the boundaries of Jamaica and inspired a worldwide faith. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more insightful documentaries from Unfiltered Reality TV. The Rastafari Pan Afrikan Nationalist Spiritual Movement was not just inspired by Ras Howell alone. This Revival of our Ancient Afrikan Nationalistic Spirituality really came out of the Afrikan Nyahbingi Ba Congo spiritual musical drum tradition that our people brought to Jamaica as Poko Kumina and Revival Traditions, that was nurtured and preserved in the parishes of St Thomas And St Mary. Many mystics like Ras Joseph Hubert, Ras Archibald Dunken, Ras Robert Hinds, Ras Claudius Henry, Ras Prince Emmanuel, Ras Bongo Watto, Ras Planno Ras Prophet Gad, Ras Bongo Time, Ras Sam Brown and many more, that grew up in this Afrikan Spiritual tradition contributed to the creation of Rastafari Spirituality. They applying the Nyahbingi Kumina Drum Sounds and chants to the movement, by infusing our beloved King Haile Selassie Name To it after the Pan Afrikan Prophet Marcus Garvey announced to the island of the Crowning of King Selassie in Addis Ababa Etiopiyaa.

Linking your sprit to your culture and skin is the epitome of ignorance, and btw Selassie was a Jew puppet. the same Jews that killed Marley, you know why they off their own because if you go in bed with them you have dirt on them and when you go against the grain with information on them the only logical step is to off you. As a matter of fact you don't even have to go against them as long as you are of no more use, you are taken out like most of the Hollywood stars you see dying.. African revival was baby killed in it's sleep, and we got ganja and stupidly instead.. mind you they would allow for Muslim ignorance since they want something to point at as a diversion for their evil

Fyah Light Robert Hinds, Leonard Howell, Archibald Dunkley and Joseph Hibbert were 1st. They were informed by a couple who had been in New York about H.I.M.'s Coronation. Hibbert was a Mystic and focused on Ethiopian Masonry, Dunkley was concerned with the correlation of Ethiopian events and the Bible, Gong Howell was focused on the Sovereignty of Indigenous and Diasporic peoples. Howell was the 1st to define the RastafarI trod in the island of Xaymaca otherwise named, Jamaica by the Colonizers.😮

1936 Haile Selassie appeal to the League of Nations in the face of the Italian invasion:
"...I ask the fifty-two nations, who have given the Ethiopian people a promise to help them in their resistance to the aggressor, what are they willing to do for Ethiopia? And the great Powers who have promised the guarantee of collective security to small States on whom weighs the threat that they may one day suffer the fate of Ethiopia, I ask what measures do you intend to take?
Representatives of the World I have come to Geneva to discharge in your midst the most painful of the duties of the head of a State. What reply shall I have to take back to my people?”
How is it that the "incarnated god" was forced to appeal to the humans in the "League of Nations" rather than call down a host of angels?

I admire that Jamaicans went to Africa. I just do not understand why Caribbeans, appropriate African colors, which are Green, Yellow and Red. How come black Caribbeans don’t normalize using the pan African colors that’s Marcus Garvey made, which are the Red, Black and Green?

      Yellow for the gold
      That they stole
      Marcus say
      Black for the people
      It was looted from"
Lyrics from Steel Pulse, reflecting Rasta ideology. The typical Rasta flag has a brown lion of Judah, but there are many with the lion ("more correct") represented in black. One could argue the yellow could look more "gold" too, but they incorporated several African motifs and all know what the colors symbolize. Don't be so literal... :D

@@theDubguy …These lyrics are of no concern to me. I am from the mother land (Africa) 💚💛❤️and I know that Black Caribbeans appropriated the African colors. Rastafari is definitely African and it came from the name of a king from Ethiopia, Africa (NOT the Caribbean) Haile Selassie.
The flag that you people normally use is of the old Ethiopian flag. Why couldn’t you people create your own flag for your community and use a different name, why Rastafari?

    • @theDubguy
      @theDubguy 27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@dee7847 First of it is not "my" community, I am not a Rasta - I just happen to be friends with several from decades of working reggae festivals, etc. Neither was Garvey. His flag was for the UNIC, and while he wanted it to become a universal symbol, that was HIS gig. His words may have inspired the Rasta movement, but that doesn't mean they should adopt his flag. They chose the Ethiopian flag as the basis because it is much more centrist to their ideals (repatriation to Shashamane, etc.)
I posted the lyrics to point out that all 4 colors are symbolic among the many pan-African countries and entities: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-African_colours#Non_pan-African_flags_with_pan-African_colours, and the fact that most "Rasta" flags you see these days are created by marketing folks and NOT Rastas.
"Why couldn’t you people create your own flag for your community and use a different name, why Rastafari?" That's like saying why do Christians call themselves Christian when they are not from the holy land, and therefore have no claim to use Christ's name? They celebrate the flag of their Kings of Kings (another of his official titles btw)... it is literally the "imperial" Ethiopian flag (currently outlawed I believe), and they base everything around His Imperial Magesty. I am not sure why thatseems problematic or is a hard pill to swallow? What bothers you about it?
Also, where do you think Black Caribbeans came from?
