The Stow in fit 5 is true to size. The stow or Malton in fit 6 is true to size but for a wider foot, great for a thicker sock. The Bourton 4444 last is a very generous fit. Recomend half size down.
Love my Trickers Stow and Henry, both bought from Trickers factory shop, also got vintage 70s Burfords undergoing a refurbishment, at the cobbler having dainite soles and heels fitted, so yes if Trickers are looked after well worth the initial investment
Joe, is your US BRANNOCK size 8.5D or what you order down from for U.S. boots to fit? I am Brannock 9.5 and get 9 in most American boots. I am wondering about sizing down a half size or one whole size from that in the Stow.
Great video, i've had the Barker Terry brogue boot on the XL wedge sole for awhile, great for comfort, winter weather and a wide fit so can fit some decent socks. Not quite as bombproof as the Trickers and the Stow is on my must get list. Also have the Grenson Archie on a commando sole and they are brilliant shoes. Love some brogues. Smart and casual at the same time.
Hello Devon. I noticed that in your first boot you got a fitting 6 but these boots were in a fitting 5, despite alluding to your “wider English feet.” Why the change?
1,The heal decoŕ lines all round are from a specific fudge wheel. 2, Your welt is a split welt, or storm welt, same difference. 3, Its not a triple welt Sir. 4, Grensons 'FRED' do a specific triple welt. 5, The zig zag edges are called Gimping. 6, The sole stitch is an open chanel blake stitch. 7, Heel block is stacked leather lifts with Dainite top lift. 8, Trickers I do like & a big fan, top notch.👍
Trickers is my favorite boot brand. Not just because of the quality, which is unquestionably perfect, but also the fit. I haven't tried yet the full leather soles; I think that will be my next move with the brand. Cheers!
I'm usually a size 8 but when trying on my Stow a few years back I was undecided between the 7.5 and the 8. In the end I went for the 7.5 but now wish I'd have gone for the 8. Like you say, they are just a little tight around the toes but I'll live with them as they are fantastic boots! When I buy my next pair I'll go for the 8 but I know these will last for years so I've no need to buy another pair anytime soon
Can't have too many pairs of good shoes, surely!? With a thin sock I might have been able to get the 7.5 to work, but I prefer a thick sock and an easy life, so 8s were right for me!
I’m a huge fan of Herring Shoes. I’ve recently ordered my second pair of shoes from them, a pair of Barker Kirby’s in Chestnut calf. My next order will be the Stow’s in C shade. I had considered buying them from the Tricker’s store on Jermyn street the next time I’m in London in about 6 weeks time. But given my excellent experience with Herring twice now (and the fact that Herring sells the boots for £85 less than Trickers), I think the choice to going with Herring again is an easy one to make.
Yes I too go up half size in the 5 fitting boots. I absolutely love the stow boot hence the three pairs I own lol well done Devon. Wear in good health and can’t wait for the next review. Look into a pair of Truman boots. I can’t say enough about their leather choices and boot builds. Cheers!!!!!
Though Cheaney are my favourite brand (how are your Windermere boots getting on ? ) I do own four pairs of Trickers and do like them. I have two Burfords a Grassmere and an Evedon. The fit is deceptive as I have a relatively narrow foot in the heel and midfoot and yet the standard "5" width Trickers boots on the 4497S last are fine for my feet on the Burfords and Grassmere. On the Evedon they are much wider for some reason. I don't know if this is just sample variation but the difference is significant. The Espresso is a nice colour for boots and a pair of mine are in that colour but I think my favourite colour that they offer is the "Marron" which is a reddish coloured mid brown which I haven't seen from any other manufacturer. From my experience, the leather is similar or a little better than Cheaney but overall I prefer the Cheaney lasts and slightly sleeker appearance ( with narrower welt) . I'm definitely enjoying my Trickers though I might let the Evedon go eventually.
I have these Stow boots in the same colour. I have wore them for about a year at 2 to 3 times a week in rotation with another boot. I can say that they are simply outstanding. The double leather sole dotens the step compensation for the hard danite. Its comfortable stylish and hardwearing. I'm using neutral cream to condition the boots to see the change in colour or patina which just now starting. Keep up the boot reviews as reviews of British boots are not near as common as US ones.
Lovely boots. The Dannite sole is the way to go over leather imo. I have a set of their Kudu leather ones and they are great. These would be fantastic for work. Super quality and made to last.
I get confused by the UK sizing vs our US sizing . They look like awesome boots , I would love to try some on , I’m wondering if there is a retail store here in the Chicagoland area ? Great presentation , I enjoyed your style very much !
I have the Archie in 7.5, it is a very generously sized shoe if I recall correctly (mine date from 2012 so now retired) and much like the Malton which I also have in 7.5.. the Stow is not quite so generous in width so I found 8 to be a better fit.. hope this helps!
Not my area of expertise, but loose grain is denoted by heavy crease patterns and associated with a lower quality leather or defect? I wouldnt expect to find in Trickers.. in fact my well worn Maltons have the finest creasing patterns that I have very seen!
It was a pleasure to have you here DR!
Thank you, hope to see you again soon!

Thank you, I will have to try out the 4444!

Very true, shoe trees are an essential part of that process in my opinion
I just bought the Stow in the Espresso Burnished Brogue in 7.5. I wear a US 8.5D and these fit perfectly.
UK7.5? So effectively true to size with your US8?

I bought these exact pair of Trickers Stow boots are they are truly fantastic
Thanks for the review. Have been trying to decide which boot to buy next: Tricker's Stow or Cheaney's Tweed.
Simple answer.. always Trickers!

Great shoes arent they!
Treated myself to a pair of stow boots in the Christmas sale, they have been my grail boot for a long time, they are very very well built 👌
Congratulations, I think you made a great choice!
Trickers is my favorite boot brand. Not just because of the quality, which is unquestionably perfect, but also the fit. I haven't tried yet the full leather soles; I think that will be my next move with the brand. Cheers!
I have only ever had leather soles on a pair of Grensons, surprisingly comfortable, hardwearing and not slippery on most surfaces

Rather than sizing up, why didn’t you consider getting a fitting 6 instead?

Don’t forget the discount code too 😉

Thanks! The patina is a exciting prospect with these!

Dainite soles are excellent from my experience.. I still love commando but these I think fit aesthetically for more people.
Those are beautiful boots

I am sure trickers have sizing charts, normally US is just +1 on UK size. Or have a chat to Herring, they ship internationally!
Yep i believe sizing is as in your case. I couldn’t brake in that toe shape
No point struggling with tight shoes, a more generous fit and thick socks is the way to go!

I am UK 7.5 in Grenson Archie .What size would I be in Trickers Stow or Cheaney Tweed ?
I have the Archie in 7.5, it is a very generously sized shoe if I recall correctly (mine date from 2012 so now retired) and much like the Malton which I also have in 7.5.. the Stow is not quite so generous in width so I found 8 to be a better fit.. hope this helps!
Update please ❤
Proper UK made boots by craftsmen
Thanks, they don’t get much better than this!
Wish you showed us more while wearing it 😢
Will do so, on the update!
How bout leather? Are there loose grain?
Not my area of expertise, but loose grain is denoted by heavy crease patterns and associated with a lower quality leather or defect? I wouldnt expect to find in Trickers.. in fact my well worn Maltons have the finest creasing patterns that I have very seen!
Yes youre right, got my stow from marketplace, same as yours. They are superb.
Brown, in Town?
Can I wear this with a business suit office attire
Wear what you want. I would - especially on a damp, rainy day. The espresso would look great under a grey or blue suit, IMO.
I've noticed in my stows that lacing method affects the fit
Criss Cross lacing (looser) vs bar lacing (snugger)
Were you able to wear this all day (like 8 hrs +) with plenty of walking?
Is that a sexy Rolex you're sporting?!! Thanks for a new video, D.R.!
It certainly is 2009, when they were more affordable and more available!
Gorgeous watch! It jumped out of the screen!@@DevonReviewer
Lovely boot.
Thanks!
anther great review!
Thank you!
Beautiful boot
