    Classic example of: "If you can dream it, you can build it." These teardrops provide a very practical application, with options way beyond the scope of simple teardrop camping. Nice job!

    Kudos for the innovative use of materials and lightweight design, but there are just so many compromises and odd design choices. Can’t see ever wanting one. No galley, not hard sided, stand up room is in weird places where you wouldn’t really use it, lack of storage. Appeal of small camper is having a kitchen ready to go, and nice secure place to sleep that doesn’t flap in the wind and is secure against animals, can be heated, and has lots of storage plus roof rack for toys. This just misses on every point that matters to me.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can see that for sure. I was thinking about how important set up time is for me. I love that there’s something for everyone and I’m happy to see some cool innovation.

    • @lauraesteves7607
      @lauraesteves7607 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The expansion of the walls, front and back roof is optional so "no flap in the wind" you just simply close the teardrop if it gets windy ( not like the old fashion pop-up) this one could be use both ways (close or open). Can be heated in many ways, It has 5" depth of storage through out the floor, the frunk has 14" of storage, the toys can be store inside while on the road to your destination as it pretty much serve as a utility trailer as well. Many cool portable gadgets this days, kitchenettes, batteries, water tanks, toilets, etc. - Portable= the freedom to take or leave it, to move it around, to customize your next adventure, camping or road trip, etc. This is mostly for environmentally friendly ppl who wants to leave a small carbon footprint, travel light on the road, skip the hotels not necessarily just for camping. Minimalist, adventurous and self sufficient. Owners of electrical vehicles who wants to extend their driving range maybe going up the rocky mountains.

      @moretoexplore6736 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, that's basically what I was going to comment on. I would also be concerned that a high wind could get underneath the roof wings and lift or toss it. Lightweight trailers are becoming more popular and there are others that are morr durable.

    • @PRH123
      @PRH123 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the lightweight construction is super, it has some real neat inventive features...
      but a simpler hard sided and hard topped design would be welcome, and likely cheaper...
      For something with pop top standing room and fold out beds, something like the sylvansport go is even smaller and lighter...

    • @craigbeattie5209
      @craigbeattie5209 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYOutdoorLife we live on an island (Vancouver Island) on the west coast of British Columbia which provide plenty of places to explore without having to travel great distances. Which is good because the charging infrastructure isn’t great here. We also like to camp at provincial campsites, which don’t usually offer electrical hookups, as opposed to private campsites. Once cross border travel restrictions relax we’d like to head down the Oregon coast. A trip that distance will be a good test, but I don’t think will be a major issue with the abundance of super charging network options there are. Towing even a small trailer like ours of around 1200 lbs fully loaded affects range of the vehicle quite substantially. Our vehicle, with approximately 300 miles of range is cut down to around 200 miles when towing. I think a trailer like the one you featured in this video would help greatly in this area.

    I truly appreciate the innovation here, but as you always say, Brian, it's about compromises. The lack of a galley is a bummer. Their portable kitchen add-on is pretty inadequate-looking for real cooking. 1lb propane cylinders will not cut it for long-term boondocking. For the additional equipment I'd have to provide and set up, and given the base price of $15K, I'd rather go with a solid Kodiak canvas tent and not have the hassle of having to tow something. But this is just the start. I am sure with enough time Angel will solve these issues and come up with a version that will knock our socks off!

    • @DIYOutdoorLife

      I knew I liked you! I really love the innovation here and can imagine someone with a small tow vehicle or Tesla being able to bring bikes, kayaks and lots of camping gear on a trip. I'm sorry this is insane. I have been watching videos on campers for a couple hours now and I saw an 18 foot camper with kitchen queen bed, bunk beds bathroom with shower for $16,000. I looked up the price on this ...tent and it's $20,000-$40,000!? That's NUTS! My SUV only tows 2,000 lbs I think. So looking around for what's out there but the difference between $16,000 and $40,000 is me buying a $24,000 vehicle that can tow over 5,000 lbs! If that Google search lied to me and these things are under $5,000 then I'm sorry but $38,000! I already own a $45 8 person tent I got on sale from Walmart. I think I'm set...

      It's the times I guess... sorry.
      They were starting at 10k at first, when I made the video they were upgrading to $15k. Since their popularity has exploded, it seems like theyre moving to exclusively make higher-end builds. Theyre not just charging more, they are "starting" with more decked out systems and not taking on the basic packages anymore.
      It's way out of my price range now, but we'll see what they do as the company grows. Maybe theyre do the basic models again at a lower price.

    For a bare shell trailer, albeit one which is truly lightweight, the price is extraordinarily exhorbitant!
    I can't say that I have confidence in that much fabric, which will leak in time, necessitating replacement.
    Monocoque fibreglass or kevlar campers aren't new, making them this light is, doubtless aided by them having nothing but a shell.
    Its an overpriced boutique project masquerading as something innovative.
