When I shot the first time Orwo NC500 I was sceptical about the results. But after some images, I began to love it. It looks like a black&white film in color.
Shoots like these would be interesting to do with one of those Color Checker Passport things. That way you can shoot a few seconds of 16mm on it, and a shot of the 35mm stock and a few seconds of the digital video gear. Just to see if it really helps in matching footage. :)
Every time Jason pops up on my feed, I instantly search your name and I begin my (now) traditional double feature picture show. Also, I misheard the film stock as uwu 400
I love Bolex, and I owned one for a few years, but I sold it after finding a Keystone A15 Deluxe for pennies. The A15 is unique, with a built-in 13mm-75mm viewfinder on the side of it. I combined the A15 with a Canon C-mount 12.5mm-75mm F1.8 from the 1980s. It's a weird but awesome combo. Honestly the quality out of the Keystone matches the Bolex, so I sold the Bolex - I'm not doing sound sync anyway. Another great episode man!
Hey Caleb! Before I make yet another extremely questionable financial decision, where did you get your 16mm developed and scanned? Great vid as always and much love!
Now I’m inspired to take my REX-3 out shooting. One thing: maybe replace that zoom with smaller, lighter primes. I keep the heavy Som-Berthiot zoom close but rarely use it.
Heeeyyy!! I just watched Erin Brockovich again for the 900th time the other day and when I saw your opening I thought 'oh wow they went to Hinkley'lol and you did! I like how a lot of the film came out even with rhe light leaks, it definitely has a vintage vibe. Always happy for ya'lls new videos!! Cheers me immensely! Keeping effing up lol 😆 xo ❤
Hell yeah, I'm all for more 16 mm vidz! Honestly I'd like to try some NC400. But I read somewhere that some ORWO stocks might have perforation issues ?
Every time I see one of you US based guys shooting any sort of motion picture film I want to get my Super 8 and 8mm cameras out… then I remember I can’t get the film processed in Ireland and I’d have to send it to the UK or US so I rarely do . Personal whining aside, cool video. The location was interesting and the “death “ scene was unexpected and very funny
Even before watching - I love ORWO NC500 and it cant be explained. The grain, the colour balance, the way it looks, the latitude, all of it, looks like something that can not be replicated with portra and filters, can not be replicated with provia and filters. A new (for current production film) look, and an interesting look with a personality. Had it been a colorplus "basic" look, it would have been much worse, cause I can get basic colorplus or gold reliably from a big house producer like kodak, so why bother with orwo? Because they give you a new groove thats why! Something you cant get from kodak for a thousand bucks, because kodak are not orwo! Bcause you can not replicate NC500 with gold and a filter. You have to get the quirky orwo stock, if you want that "now thats interesting" look.
No beard … beard … no beard … beard ………. Stop stop Stop. I need to focus on the light leaks. Still that nc400 filmstock looks good and hey you just made it more arty.
The fact these two upload the same exact minute every time on their channels is something else
🥰
I love it!! Double the trouble, double the fun lol!!😂
I actually flinched at the 18:15 mark. Well played 👏
hahahahahaah im glad 😀
@@BadFlashes I also flinched...totally unexpected and shocking! Ha Ha.
Damn!

awwwww yeah .. i dig this!
Got me. I seriously thought you were desert roadkill.
not this time lol
So good to have you back!!! Interesting images and colors. I actually like the sprocket leak effects.
Awww thanks. Glad to be back

That’s a good idea. I picked one up recently actually. Unfortunately didn’t have it for this one.
Hey Caleby Boo.... Love your stuff... never stop posting!!! you and Jason on the same day... NOTHING is better!! Love the pair of you!!
Thank you so much!! 😘😘🥳
That jump scare worked!!!
Hahahaha so glad !

Hahahaha nice!!!! 😊

the negative space in CO
The flashed images are a vibe and I can roll with it. Love the honesty. We film shooters get it.
Yay. I’m so glad. 🙂
You are making me break out my old 8mm and give it a try! Where do you have your 16mm transfered to digital?
DO IT !!!!!!!!!
I use the negative space out of CO
@@BadFlashes Thanks, Caleb, I found the web link for The Negative Space. I will give it a try.
What asa did you ahootthr 16mm at? Did you shoot it at 400 asa or did you shoot it at 320asa . Thank you
320 but I’d do like 200 asa … more light the better
What lens were you using on the Leica? Also, we need a short on the sound of the Bolex.
true that!
and I was using two lenses... Voigtlander Color skopar 35mm on Part one
and Part Two I was using Voigtlander Ultron 28mm
Is the vignetting I saw from the lens or post?
I mentioned it in the video… my filter didn’t cover the lens with the hood on it 😭
Now I’m inspired to take my REX-3 out shooting. One thing: maybe replace that zoom with smaller, lighter primes. I keep the heavy Som-Berthiot zoom close but rarely use it.
Yeah that’s the biggest part for sure
those light leak reminded me that spot light filter in photoshop.
Hahaha 😆
That light leaked film has that desolate, radiation exposed, nuclear wastelands of Chernobyl vibes to it :)
Oh yeah totally.
I so meant for that 😝

and that movie is GREAT!
Light leaks are just part of the process sometimes
Hahahaha truth
Excellent video...as always!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Всё правильно, надо больше снимать на киноплёнку, это выглядит очень заманчиво ❤
Shot 🎞️ ♾️
Damnit. You are going to have me chasing rabbits again.

Who did your 16mm process and scan?
The negative space out of CO
Great fun, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Caleb, are you recommending that we shoot the 35mm still film at ISO 200 or even 160, or is that just in reference to the 16mm?
honestly both wouldn't be a bad option
Hell yeah, I'm all for more 16 mm vidz!
Honestly I'd like to try some NC400. But I read somewhere that some ORWO stocks might have perforation issues ?
I mean maybe ... but not sure... this preforms like i expected
and thanks for the 16mm love
@@BadFlashes alright ! Well then I need to get some in the Eclair !

and that is a bummer it is so hard to get it processed :/
maybe that means you need to open up your own ECN-2 lab lol
@@BadFlashes thanks for the reply ! If I ever acquire an obscene amount of money, that would be pretty high on the list

Hope you dig the vid lol
I tape the back of my cameras down when I have film in there just to have that extra layer of protection against me being stupid lol.
on the bolex or your 35mm?

@@BadFlashes the world is gonna roll me
Nice shots. I’ll have to shoot it at lower iso, see if I can like it, the first roll was unpleasant, muddy looking. Thanks!
LOWER is so the key lol
Brb buying some NC500 RN will report back
Deal .... Report back! ... don't flash your film like I did lol
Messupses works for me
🥳
Love your videos!!
Glad you like them! 😍😍😍
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Wasn’t a fan of the 35mm
Had a roll of the 400
But the 16mm looks good
yeah it is acquired but works if you need that style :)
I love 16mm.
