The question i would have with using gauges is this "how do you figure out where to cut with a gauge before softening with a knife" the reason i ask that is the gauge takes out a chunk and then you soften with the knife taking away more but the face doesnt loose the proportions.... basically do you have cut on the inside of the lines in order to get the ouside cut on the correct mark, does that make sense? Like if youre cutting a 2x4 at 1500mm with a 2mm blade youd cut on the scrap side of the wood needed not on the 1500mm line
