  • A playthrough of Double Fine's 2017 graphic adventure for the PC, Full Throttle Remastered.
    The original game blew my mind when I first got it back in 1995 when it was brand spankin' new. It combined the awesomeness of all of LucasArts' previous adventures (Sam n Max, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island...) and amped it up by several orders of magnitude. It's a fair amount shorter and easier than the company's earlier games, but it's drowning in personality, badassery, and general quality in every respect. If you ever had a passing interest in the "experience" of a graphic adventure, look no further. Full Throttle has everything in spades.
    The remaster is everything that you could possibly hope it would be. All of the original, low-resolution assets have been faithfully redrawn and look amazing in HD, the audio is all here in far higher quality than you're used to (redone from the original source material, not the heavily-compressed recordings that were on the original CD), the interface has been tweaked a bit to improve the flow of things, and it has a load of extra cool content like concept art to unlock.
    The game itself is untouched - all of the puzzles are here in their original form - and while there seem to be some reviewers on the internet that want to complain about the game, most of these complaints seem to focus on how the game feels dated compared to modern adventure games. I personally would call those people dumbasses. It works because nobody butchered it in an attempt to modernize the game play: it didn't need it. It was always pretty intuitive, and the puzzles make sense. If they don't, you aren't being creative enough with your lateral thinking - by 90s adventure game standards, this is quite an easy game. Just don't expect it to hold your hand the entire time and give you the answer after five minutes - it expects you to figure things out. If you don't, well, tough. I suppose you could use a walkthrough, but that would ruin it. This isn't just a game - it's a true experience, and it deserves to be played through honestly. It's too fun to not do that anyway.
    Full Throttle has always been one of my favorite games, and it's just as much an artistic achievement now as it was 22 years ago - every bit as much as Day of the Tentacle - and it's been treated with the same respect and love as the Maniac Mansion sequel in its remake.
    The fact that you are reading this means you have some interest in Full Throttle. If you haven't played it, go download it now. Don't question if you need to or not, or if it's worth the money, or if it's fun. Just buy it, play it, and love it. You just might not see sunlight again until you reach the finale.
    *Side note: I cut out the original audio from the end credit roll. I really didn't want to do that, but the music was four straight songs by the Gone Jackals, and they kept being picked up by TH-cam's copyright thing. I replaced it with a few audio tracks from within the game. TH-cam also muted the licensed music in a couple small parts of the video (mainly the intro). I do apologize for any convenience or disappointment this may cause. The audio is untouched except for in these couple instances.

    Full Throttle Remastered is an awesome update that wisely didn't try to fix what wasn't broken. The art and music is phenomenal - a truly unforgettable game!

    My uncle passed away ten years ago, and I was a bit young for this game, but he could just cruise through these games. Sometimes I could sit n watch him, but it was his whole life! Sam n Max, day of the tentacle, Discworld, not to mention 5 helpings of HOMM, my personal fave. Those were happier days...

    One of my favourite game of all times since 1995. Probably one of the game that got me into PC gaming beside Doom back in the days. This was my first game that made me realized videogames can turn into "Movies" back then.
    Also sidenote, this game also inspired me to ride motorcycles and take a motorcycle license as well.

      Hanferd No kidding, that's awesome! You ever use a chainsaw it fertilizer on people in rival gangs? :)

      I use a car iron! :D
      Well I dunno why everybody complain about this mini fighting game, it basically a "arcade puzzle". You use the Chain to defeat the Vulture guy with the booster, Fertilizer with the Chainsaw Vulture, Chainsaw against the Rottweiler with the wooden plank and finally the Wooden plan against the Cavefish guy as a wack a mole puzzle.

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hanferd I'm a fan of the chain, myself. The puzzle bit is probably why they complain :) it required a bit of thought. Oh no! lol. I always liked it, I thought it broke things up nicely.

      Same here, for reason is that Ben is a "bad ass" so it's obligatory to show some of his bad assness as a mini game of Punching bikers in the face. Personally I think it incorporate with the gameplay and storyline in a way. Personally I find the fencing in Monkey Island annoying.

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hanferd Totally agree. It was a pretty excellent way to incorporate character development directly into
      into the gameplay!

    I don't remember the original version having this mini game at 13:44, it goes straight to his "accident" after leaving the Kick Stand

    This game is and was amazing!
    Who bitch about the remake are the same ppl who would bitch about Psycho on blu ray.
    The game is a product of it's time and games changed... and that's what make it awnsome ;)
    Plus the remaster team had respect for the material

    This game was absolutely fantastic! A criminally underappreciated winner! The only downside is the game had a difficulty that was off the charts. Back in 1995 if you didn't have internet you may have been screwed...

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +johnlewisbrooks You think so? Compared to LucasArts' other games, I thought this one was almost too easy. I thought it worked well for this one because it kept the action moving, but I personally found Day of the Tentacle and Sam n Max waaaay harder to finish.

    • @johnlewisbrooks
      @johnlewisbrooks 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, Day of The Tentacle! The final boss was TOTAL ASS!

      Sweet mama, Sam and Max will turn your brain to mush if you don't get on board with the whacked out logic right from the get go. It's my personal favorite point and click for just that reason, and I can still find things in it that I'd never seen before. That goddamned spoon puzzle had me stumped forever!

    The only part that I couldn't make sense was the choice of weapons to defeat a Cavefish, why only the wooden plank and not the others like chainsaw or the skull mace?

    Great stuff, though I do wish it weren't set in the future. For the most part I feel like it would work fine set in the present, or maybe in the twentieth century sometime.

    great game play . but why only 720p ?

    • @NintendoComplete
      @NintendoComplete  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +MoneyD Dragon Thanks! It's 720p60 because I didn't really see any notable differences in the picture quality. I'm guessing because it's all fairly low motion 2D art, but the file size was several times larger in 1080p. This file was about 20gb smaller than the 1080p version :)

      Yup, that's one of the spots I was meaning in the description. It plays a licensed song that TH-cam's copyright scan thing objects to. It's a really short time before it comes back

    I feel so sorry for the absolute degradation of IT as they all don't make games like this anymore. The entire genre is dead. The internet has turned into some piece of Tiktok.
    I despise my master's in CS and don't want to be associated with it.
