Do you know if its possible to replace the software for the kika T9 physical keyboard? I’m not impressed with its predictive text, the fact that you have to select each word before hitting the space button (it doesn’t automatically select the first word given), or capitalize at the beginning of a new sentence. I’m not a fan of the onscreen touch keyboard as the buttons are crazy small and when in use it blocks most of the screen. Plus I like a physical keyboard, and feel if done well t9 can be almost as efficient as a full qwerty keyboard, at least for texting. Not a deal breaker, but definitely not as nice a T9 program as my sonim xp3. Thanks!
Ordered this one! Sas that Cat are now closed and they stopped creating phones started this january onwards. However, i am still excited to get this one! I spent 8+ hrs on my mobile phone 😢
I like you're videos and really like this phone, I live in scandinavia, will this work here or do you know of an alternative phone with android go? I spent to much time on my Iphone. but I need a transition phone not a KaiOS one.
It is easier to operate because of the touchscreen, but they Kyocera is better in build quality and design in my opinion. If you value function over form, it's worth it.
Thanks for the review. I just bought this phone. I break phones all the time because my hand twitches or gets paralyzed every now and then thanks to epilepsy. But I've got a good feeling this one will last me better.
I am in love with this phone but...is there any way to find a CAT phone similar to this that supports dual sim? If they had the S22 for dual sim, that would be total perfection! Usually markets outside the US have dual sim options but the S22 seems to only be found on the US market?
A couple things.... 1) I can't figure out how to turn on the flashlight & 2) You had to someone else mentioned that you could switch from the on screen typing to the keypad by "swiping down on the notification shade"..... Can you clarify, I'm not exactly sure what that means. Thank you for the review!!!
After the 40 day period, how hard is T-Mobile to work with for the unlock? I have RedPocket Mobile on an annual plan with the GSMA (AT&T) SIM, do you know if it’ll have enough band support for good coverage with them?
Thank you for the quick comment, I’ve been following your videos for awhile now and pretty sure that this phone is exactly what Im looking for. AGM M7 is too small of screen, and lots of crashing issues on the sideloading of apps onto it. Touchscreen is nice, but viewing angles are horrible. Sonim XP5S has an amazing looking screen, but no sideloading support or touchscreen. Qin F21 Pro has a great touchscreen as well, but I can’t get any sideloading to work since it has updated firmware. So hopefully the Cat will check all my boxes. Thanks again!!

Hey Jose, do you know if this device might work on Mint Mobile, since it's a T-Mobile MVNO? Or would I need to have it on a T-Mobile plan for 40 days then request an unlock?
I switched to this after using a Kyocera DuraXT for seven years. It has not been a pleasant switch. I wish this CAT had true T9. One other frustration, though it may seem minor, is that its nearly impossible to flip open with one hand.
Jose, this phone was selling for about $270.00 in 2021 but I see it now being sold in 2023 in the US on many web sites, even Amazon, for about $70.00, unlocked. Why the price drop? Another important question, ,Jose: what does T Mobile charge you for a monthly cell phone carrier service for the CAT S 22?

For most apps you can use the keys. Some apps only work with touchscreen.
thinking of getting one thanks for the rview its on amazon now for like 53bucks i have the orginal cat so it should be more suited for me thanks again for sharing
the back camera is autofocus?
Yes. It does have a simple point autofocus.
Where is the indicator light to show its charging? Is there a red or green illumination on the exterior?
hi jose i like your glasses, what kind of shape/style are they and where would i go to buy a pair for my self?
I got them at Warby Parker. They are the Alvin on their collection.
Great review! I just wonder what are the two round holes in the lower part of the back?...Thanks!
Contact pins for charging on a dock.
Great review! Am I able to download and listen to Spotify/Pandora on it?
Yes
Does this phone have the function to answer the incoming call simply by opening the phone (ie see who is ringing via the external smaller screen)?
Can you listen to music on it using apps like TIDAL or Napster? Also does it have a headphone jack and is it bluetooth enabled?
Tidal yes. Headphone jack yes. Bluetooth yes.
Thanks!
Not possible sadly as far as I know.
Ordered this one! Sas that Cat are now closed and they stopped creating phones started this january onwards. However, i am still excited to get this one! I spent 8+ hrs on my mobile phone 😢
Great video. Does this phone work on Straight talk prepaid I'm in Tennessee? Please let me know if you can.
How is the speaker? That has been good on many dumb phones, but seems small on this one.
It’s decent. Not great, but better than most dumbphones.
I like you're videos and really like this phone, I live in scandinavia, will this work here or do you know of an alternative phone with android go? I spent to much time on my Iphone. but I need a transition phone not a KaiOS one.
What pone would you recommend for a dumb, non-tracable flip phone that you can text on?
I’d say that the best phone for this would be the Sonim XP3 Plus.
I’m looking for a flip phone for my dad can you install Alexa on this phone
Yes
@@AlejandroP1980s thank you
In comparison to the Kyocera 903kc/902 do you think it's a worth while device?
It is easier to operate because of the touchscreen, but they Kyocera is better in build quality and design in my opinion. If you value function over form, it's worth it.
Thanks for this video ! Was just wondering if you knew if it worked on vodafone in the UK ?
It should
I LOVE how excited you are about this!!!
I love dumb phones and flip phones. A phone should be retro.
Are you able to use the arrow keys and stuff to navigate around? Or are you forced to use the touch screen?
You can. I was using the touchscreen to be faster on the video.
Thanks for the review. I just bought this phone. I break phones all the time because my hand twitches or gets paralyzed every now and then thanks to epilepsy.
But I've got a good feeling this one will last me better.
Great info! Looking forward to the XP3plus review as well - these two phones are top contenders for me.
Can you still get Spotify? I want to switch, I just love podcast
Yeah
DO YOU know were i can find a online users manual for this phone as the tiny print of the paper one that came with the phone is worthless ???

I am in love with this phone but...is there any way to find a CAT phone similar to this that supports dual sim? If they had the S22 for dual sim, that would be total perfection! Usually markets outside the US have dual sim options but the S22 seems to only be found on the US market?
Only in the US for now. No Dual SIM phones like this one yet sadly.
Does the CAT phone have the talk to text feature?
Yes
I'm hoping by the time my contract is up, Verizon will have an equivalent. 1.5 years baby.
This is the phone I need.
How are you typing with the buttons, mine is not I am actually using touch typing which I didn't want. Any help
It should have enough support. It's easy after the 40 days. Just call, tell them you paid the phone outright and you should be good to go.
Thank for info video❤. I’ve question: can I use in poland with gsm operator from europe? Regards
You should be able to
Hello Jose, I appreciate you and you channel very much. Thank you! I recently bought a 2022 Toyota my smart phone was paired for my needs. Last week I bought the CAT s22 Flip phone, put my old sim chip in and paired it with the car, but now I can't connect to Google Maps, Android Auto seems unavailable for it as well. I noticed you pulled up Maps fine on this video, can you please advise?
I do want to keep this phone, but I don't want to make my car dumb, if you know what I mean. Or add a monthly fee for an app if possible.Thank you
How do I buy this from Australia?
Will the metro pcs , global version work in India ?
I just got one for my Dad for $62.00 on Amazon and that's with tax. I hope he Likes it.
How would you compare the speed of the processor? Similar to a low end or mid range smartphone?
Low end 2021. Mid range 2019
@@JoseBriones oh another thing... Do you know if TH-cam and YT Music keeps playing with the flip closed? With a TH-cam Premium subscription of course.
@@lowellhurst1738 Yes
Hi Jose, can you use this phone as hostspot?
You can!
Hey Jose, do you know if this device might work on Mint Mobile, since it's a T-Mobile MVNO? Or would I need to have it on a T-Mobile plan for 40 days then request an unlock?
It works on the MVNO's of TMobile without issues :)
I switched to this after using a Kyocera DuraXT for seven years. It has not been a pleasant switch. I wish this CAT had true T9. One other frustration, though it may seem minor, is that its nearly impossible to flip open with one hand.
What do you mean by true T9? It has a triple click if you press the # key
@@JoseBriones press the # key when? All it does it type a ‘#’ into the text field.
@@Erix7810 Huh. Odd. Try holding it, maybe that changes it. Another way is to go to the notification bar and swipe down and click on the keyboard.
Could you tell me if it is possible tu use de camera with the flip closed? I need a strong phone to use as a wifi camera to access from distance.
Not really possible due to Android Go.
The phone was discontinued and due to that it got a reduction in price. The monthly cost of a T-Mobile plan ranges from 25 to $50
is there a way to switch to the physical keypad rather than the screen touch pad? when i go to settings it says physical keypad disconnected but doesn't give me any options to connect it.
Yes. You can go to keyboard in settings and enable 12-keys
@@JoseBriones Thank you!
