Great information. When I am down in the San Diego area I go the beach to watch the Brown Pelicans. Watching them fly by overhead, just skimming the waves, or diving into the water, is a lot of fun. We occasionally get Brown Pelicans up here in the Puget Sound area of Washington State but it is uncommon. We do have the American White Pelicans, though still not very common.
I always thought Pelicans were bizarre but now I can say OMG what awesome birds, built with and for extra skills. Thank you ❣️

My sister and I saw a brown pelican yawn when we were kids on vacation in Florida. 😅 it's a sight you don't forget 😂
