Let me know if you think its worth replacing a broken component causing no damage? Its a £17 replacement....
When I had that issue with my N3DSXL, it was because of the c stick (but only because I replaced it with a PSP nub and it wasn’t properly aligned and was giving pressure to one side).

For anyone interested, I believe the issue with the cursor going crazy on startup is indeed because the joystick is disconnected like Elliot thought, I had the same issue with my OG 3dsXL when I broke the joystick, disconnected it and was waiting for a replacement, as soon as I replaced it, it stopped happening.
Hi, I’d like to repair my old 3DS (the first model), which has been damaged from continuous opening and closing of the screen. When I try to turn it on I have to find the right upper screen opening position or else it’ll shut down with a “crack” sound, same when it’s on and you move the screen. Thing is that the position I’m forced to use is very unnatural and even if I move slightly, the whole game shuts. I already tried to go to my phone repairer with no success. I suppose the problem it’s only a cable to the screen that got damaged; is it possible to repair by myself (judging on how the cables are connected in this video I suppose so, there isn’t anything to weld)? Do I have to look only for the cable I suppose or other things? And finally is it possible to buy only some parts online or do I have to buy a box full of all parts like he did on the video (everything else works perfectly so I wouldn’t need them)? Thanks
Loose ribbon cable for the screen so it needs to be put back into its socket properly before being closed back up. Good luck it's not the hardest fix but you Dan still break your 3ds in the process so be careful.
Funny story I had a 2nd hand 2DS with a parental lock and I didn't know you could reset it like you have and I had the secret question of "where was you born" after few Guesses I guessed "Shrewsbury" and it worked
the "cursor" going all around when booting it up is when 200 hours of gameplay played, it starts breaking. now, since its a part of the console, not a seperate contoller, it is unable to be fixed. the problem is called "drifting" and i have it on my switch. however, the problem is able to be fixed, and may you please do a video on that?
my guess is than they opened it to fix the Touch screen and ended up breaking that ribbon cable from the joystick in the process and did not bothered to put it back again, Also is nice to see people coming through and actually shipping the item after a low winning bid, those sells end up being canceled quite frequently also check the placement of the touch screen against the shell since small pressure point from the side can cause that trouble you are having everytime you turn it on
@@Freaksterbob I got a question? Do you know how to change the Nintendo network ID? Or the user? I made a new account with the switch and want to change it so I don't have to deal with forgotten passwords
There is a ripped ribbon cable on the bottom screen as you can see at 3:28 . It is probably the touch or something that is flipping out. Be sure to replace that screen too so you don't have any issues in the future.
The random joystick input could also be the c-stick (right hand nub joystick). There's no system calibration for it, but some games have a "Circle pad pro" calibration feature which shows that joystick isolated from the rest. Majora's mask and Resident evil revelations for example. If it's jittery there you know for sure it's that joystick that has an issue. It's supposed to auto-re-calibrate itself when it wakes up from sleep mode btw, so closing the lid, waiting for a second or two, then opening it again can fix it for that play session. IIRC unplugging that joystick does not introduce jittery input, so that's an option for the majority of games that doesn't use it anyway. Great channel btw! :-)

What kind of tool? 😏
@@JohnDoe-df8bj that's why I'm asking lol
If you are still having problems with the cursor at the start. To me it looks like a dpad or joystick pin issue but I am not 100% sure. The reason why I know is cause it happens if you install a controller mod incorrectly.
He also has two cameras. Maybe give some time before switching from one to the other in edit ;) much love
Please keep us posted on this! I’d love to see if you can fix it by replacing the joystick
I fixed it!
