    On The New Orleans Steamboat Natchez For A Sunday Jazz Brunch Cruise On The Mississippi Sternwheeler!
    When we were planning our trip to New Orleans, one of the things we decided we wanted to do was take a cruise on the Mississippi River on the Steamboat Natchez. So...we did it! We found the Steamboat Natchez at 600 Decatur St on the waterfront, just behind the Jax Brewery. We actually went on the Sunday Jazz Brunch Cruise, so we not only cruised the Mississippi, but we ate on it too! It was a very cool experience, and it was the first time ever for both of us to ride on a real steam powered, stern wheel paddleboat. The dinner was a buffet, and the food was very good. Our brunch included some New Orleans cuisine, Brown Sugar Pineapple Glazed Ham, turkey sausage, Bananas Foster, traditional breakfast food, and much more. Before and after the brunch, we heard some great jazz music in the dining room area, which was a really good backdrop for a cruise down the Mississippi River! You don't have to pay for the buffet to go on the cruise. If you just want to go for the sightseeing and the whole steamboat experience, you can do that and pay less for your ticket. We learned a little New Orleans history on our cruise, as there is a narrator you can hear on the ships loudspeaker system explaining different things you see along the way. It was a fun experience, and the trip only lasted two hours, so there was still plenty of time that day to see more of New Orleans!

      We had a great time on the Natchez...good food and a relaxing time. I imagine New Orleans has changed a lot over the years. It’s someplace we’ve always wanted to go, and I wish we’d done it years ago!

    Ugh..still remember trying to enjoy a walk and a beignet at Cafe' du Monde and having to endure the hideous sound of that whistle.

    Hi, was lunch included or was lunch an additional cost?

    • @GmaGpaAdventures
      @GmaGpaAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We bought a ticket that included the lunch, but you can buy a ticket just to take the boat trip. We got our tickets off of their website and that saved a little money.

    How does it steer?

    • @GmaGpaAdventures
      @GmaGpaAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They use three large rudders to steer this sternwheeler. The captain controls the ship with the wheel from the Pilot House. And they’ll let you tour the engine room which is very cool!
