Before we use to go to Lake Charles, LA and they had a lot of buffet that serve crab legs in the Casino hotels but they all closed down. So we are looking around houston but cant find one except the Japanese Buffet in Willowbrook but their quality has gone down over the years.

Did you guys take some time to go below to visit the steam engine? Back when I rode the Natchez, they allowed you to go below deck and visit it and (if someone was nearby) ask questions about it (note: this was over a decade ago, so I don't know if it's someone that disappeared with the pandemic). It was the highlight of the visit back when I was younger.
The City of New Orleans isn't a steamboat....its basically a modern look a like...or what I call a fake. If you want a real steamboat you have only one option...the Belle of Louisville out of Louisville KY.

It was nice that they had some live music going upstairs to entertain you all. $140 is not a bad price for dinner and the cruise. You've spent a lot more at dinner in the past that's for sure LOL! uh oh, david, i know its right on the Mississippi and theres a ton of cat fish there, but i looked close at the video and the way the so-called catfish cut with your knife and stuck at the edges… i think its white fish which is often passed off as cat fish. its a completely different color, texture, its flaky where catfish is not flaky. i had this happen at a really nice local ayce (all you can eat) restaurant in chantilly, va, and i gently called them out on this. its pre breaded and comes that way, and they simply fry it. it was tasty, and mild, but not catfish. take a look and tell me if your fish was the same as this.. th-cam.com/video/HUtaTzLI2C4/w-d-xo.html

The Natchez has been missing in action for some years now and there is never any updates. I wonder if they have retired the boat as its too expensive to run and replaced it with a fake modern boat like the City of New Orleans?
When you figure you are getting a micro cruise down the river AND live music AND buffet, not really so steep, for four. Maybe not a terrific deal but not robbery by any means.
I will say I was disappointed with our cruise. You pay twice, once for the cruise and then more for the buffet. They neglected to explain that to us. By the time we found out, it was too late and they were sold out. So we ended up on a dinner cruise with no dinner. It was dark and cold.
My family took the same cruise 4 years ago. We parked at a neaby casino. The buffet was a good experience but the stop at a battleground site was boring.
Who in their right mind would actually pay to go on this? I've seen this boat thousands of times and I do mean it's a fine FINE BOAT. It's no doubt in that. It's very beautiful. With that being said . Why tour a place where all you see is tow boats, barges, ships and grain elevators or chemical plants. I myself am a captain on one of the tugs you will see. I do not nor WOULD I EVER live in nola. To me its the worse place in America. I just can't understand why anyone would think all of that is nice to see while traveling on the ugliest and nastiest river in America.

Nice thought to bring the family, but it looked pretty much like a waste to me. The food looked marginal and not very young kid friendly if there is a such a thing. Overpriced an underenjoyed I'd say. You all looked stressed and bored. And I'm not going.

uh oh, david, i know its right on the Mississippi and theres a ton of cat fish there, but i looked close at the video and the way the so-called catfish cut with your knife and stuck at the edges… i think its white fish which is often passed off as cat fish. its a completely different color, texture, its flaky where catfish is not flaky. i had this happen at a really nice local ayce (all you can eat) restaurant in chantilly, va, and i gently called them out on this. its pre breaded and comes that way, and they simply fry it. it was tasty, and mild, but not catfish. take a look and tell me if your fish was the same as this.. th-cam.com/video/HUtaTzLI2C4/w-d-xo.html

I will say I was disappointed with our cruise. You pay twice, once for the cruise and then more for the buffet. They neglected to explain that to us. By the time we found out, it was too late and they were sold out.
So we ended up on a dinner cruise with no dinner. It was dark and cold.

My family took the same cruise 4 years ago. We parked at a neaby casino. The buffet was a good experience but the stop at a battleground site was boring.

Who in their right mind would actually pay to go on this? I've seen this boat thousands of times and I do mean it's a fine FINE BOAT. It's no doubt in that. It's very beautiful. With that being said . Why tour a place where all you see is tow boats, barges, ships and grain elevators or chemical plants.
I myself am a captain on one of the tugs you will see. I do not nor WOULD I EVER live in nola. To me its the worse place in America.
I just can't understand why anyone would think all of that is nice to see while traveling on the ugliest and nastiest river in America.

Nice thought to bring the family, but it looked pretty much like a waste to me. The food looked marginal and not very young kid friendly if there is a such a thing. Overpriced an underenjoyed I'd say. You all looked stressed and bored. And I'm not going.
