Raw and Equipped lifting are different so don't compare them both. If you skinny keyboard warriors think that it's so easy to add 200 plus pounds if you throw in a shirt or a squat suit, you are dead wrong, it requires greater CNS compared to lifting raw. Can you imagine how much tension it will be added if you place a bar on your back that is 100+ more than your raw max? Do you know how much your core has to work more under that load? How about benching 200+ pounds more than your raw bench? Your wrists would probably break under that load. So stop saying that raw is the only way or equipped is gay, because it's not. Some people just prefer it and in most cases it gives some injured people the chance to lift again with tremendous weights. Going raw all the time is not good especially for the joints, some people get a lot of benefits in terms of joint health when they switch to equipped. Squatting with gear helps get rid of hip pain, benching with a shirt helps people that has torn their pecs to bench massive weights again. Please don't talk shit if you don't have a solid understanding of the subject.
The main thing is the skill component and how brutal equipped training is on the joints. I think the squat suits help too much since they add to the point they can't hit depth, but that's not to say these feats of strength aren't impressive. Also, gotta give credit to Dave Hoff the squats I saw him in the vid, though admittedly high, are REALLY DEEP for a multi-ply squat. Also those weights are probably around +500lbs above their maxes. Yury Belkin, a skilled raw lifter in sleeves and wraps gets about 220lbs (he did 705lbs in sleeves recently and he's done 925lbs in wraps numerous times) so a multi-ply suit and wraps adds a shit tonne more. If they only added 200lbs, they'd all be elite raw lifters and equipped lifters. Equipped lifters stick to equipped, and raw lifters stick to raw, cause they can do what the other can't essentially. The suits technically wouldn't add anything to most guys lifts unless they used much weaker suits, because they wouldn't be able to lockout a squat anywhere near heavy enough to actually budge the suit, and they wouldn't be able to touch the chest with something they could lockout. Also, without a doubt, world record multi-ply bench holder has the strongest wrists in the world. This brings me to my final point. Single-ply equipped lifting, is honestly where it's at. The suits definitely help, but they can still hit depth on squats. The bench shirts definitely help, but they aren't out-benching their fucking deadlifts. And the deadlift suits help, but honestly, it wouldn't harm them to use the multi-ply deadlift suits cause they still do fuck all compared to the other 2 suits, though at least they aren't out-benching their deadlifts.
Equipped lifting is extremely different . Just getting into the equipment is so hard and lots of the 308+ guys I know who competed multi ply have nerve damage in the chest from the tightness of their bench shirt
