Edward "Ed" Ignatius Coan is an American powerlifter. He is widely regarded throughout the powerlifting world as the greatest powerlifter of all time. Coan has set over 71 world records in powerlifting.
Throughout his active career in international powerlifting competition Ed Coan has set over 71 world records in powerlifting. He became the lightest person to cross the 2,400lbs. barrier in the powerlifting total. He set an all-time powerlifting record total at 2,463 pounds, even though at the time he was not in the heaviest weight class.

Way back many years ago when titles meant something , I believe Ed was the first to win WPC/ APF & IPF world titles.
On top of that he won APF/ USPF senior nationals . The 80s were amazing !!

Coan will always be labeled as the GOAT in my generation but Haack is gaining if not there. Haack's squat i dont believe will ever equal Coans but his deadlift and bench are/will and if Haack moves to 220/242 there is no telling what numbers he will put up.

I have respect to Ed Coan, but greatest powerlifter ever is Petr Petráš.. All time World Record.. 1160kg..so I do not understand, why you called Ed Coan as the best powerlifter all time.. In his time sure.. But currently would have no chance against Petr Petráš
