What an exceptional version this is Dan, it's so good, this is a very underrated zep song according to some but you have absolutely nailed it again. The beginning and the end with the acoustic sounding parts played obviously on your Gibson are ridiculously good, Al gets plants vocals pretty much spot on. I know I have said many times over the last few months you are as good a jimmy page as I have heard live and that does include the man himself cus as you know being such a student yourself you know jimmy was incredibly sloppy( high) at times. Having seen them at knebworth and then in the guise of page and plant and then being incredibly lucky to get tickets for the armet tribute at the 02 and also listened to well over a 100 bootlegs I can say with some knowledge again you are a very talented guitarist/ musician who really deserves more recognition. Keep up the good work.....and to think my real hero is Ritchie Blackmore🤣
Thanks so much Terry and I am very pleased that you enjoyed that. Let me start by saying Ritchie Blackmore is awesome. I guess if you obsess and work hard enough and long enough you can at least get into the ball park with regards to trying to emulate another persons guitar playing, and that is closer than being in the bleachers. I am fully aware of my short comings in that regard but I am a product of my influences. I revere Jimmy Page, and when I was a younger man, I was compelled to try and be as accurate as was within my abilities out of respect and love for his body of work........it deserves that. A careless caviller approach was disrespectful and unacceptable as far as Al and myself were both concerned so we tried to up our game.......you can not delve that deep if there is no heart and the love of the music is superficial......obviously. I really enjoy and respect that you listen with a critical ear my friend, and as always, I enjoy your comments. Take good care Terry......your Canadian pal Dan😀
@@ferguson-outafaze morning and I really enjoyed reading that reply, there are many many zep tributes but very few do it with such love, respect and obvious attention to detail like you guys. Growing up were I lived you was a zep fan or deep purple fan and although deep purple and in particular the man in black was my first love zeppelin and Jimmy have forever been my Mistress🙂. I don't claim to be the greatest jimmy page fan but I know enough to hear when someone plays as authentic and with as much passion and heart as you do Dan. I only really listen to your work and an English tribute called whole lotta led. Keep posting and I will keep listening 🙂
@@spud64KH I will have to check them out. You know i always felt I played the solos better sitting on my sofa at home no stress. However as soon as you step on the stage and you put yourself out there it gets real very fast and with that comes stress and anxiety from being in front of a real audience..they can talk to you and throw things😂 I frequently forgot parts or played them poorly due to that. The Barrymore's gig where I am taking these videos from I had a guy hurling insults and obscenities at me and I had to edit that out of the beginning of Trampled Underfoot...haven't put that up yet. There are a lot of things that can derail a performer playing live when the rubber meets the road. We were threatened to never play Montreal or Toronto via our website we had at the time. I even had a guitar player from a Toronto LZ tribute walk on stage at the Rainbow in Ottawa and try to intimidate me...........I had hoped there would be a friendly camaraderie we could share some guitar licks and have a few laughs.........after all we are all just cover bands......no chance at all just open hostility...........humans🤨😐
@@ferguson-outafaze unbelievable what you write tho I guess there are idiots around who really can't see the wood for the trees ( I know Canada has a lot of trees 😳) It's very sad and disrespectful when people do it and I can't understand why the would after paying good money to see you. Jeez some hostile people for sure. They think the music is so precious and they know every note which just isn't true. I have seen some terrible tribute bands over the years but at least they are out there putting their heart and soul into it so however much I thought that particular band was awful I had the choice to walk out or stay. I have always admired anybody who plays anything live as I cannot play a single note...apart from three blind mice on the recorder but you have to give people credit for trying. I can't believe people would throw things and as for the other guitarist well he was obviously very intimidated by your playing but as you say I would have expected a bond between you all a love of zep, stop stories and licks etc. You carried on tho so well done. If you played those solos and riffs better at home then it's time you got your Gibson out again again because to better than what we see must have been bloody good. I will send you a link in a moment my friend and you can see what we have over here🙂👍 keep on playing Dan.
@@spud64KH Oh well.....Mercifully I have encountered some great people as well.......we opened one time for an Aerosmith tribute and we did Since I've Been Loving You in it's entirety for sound check, one of the lads from the band came up to me shook my hand and said he had never heard it done that well ever...........so there are a lot of decent folks out there as well. I used to see a LZ tribute in the late 70's/early 80's from Toronto, I think they were called Presence...the guitarist was very good and I told him so...we got on great and had a nice visit after the show. I remember seeing The White close to the same time as that other band I mentioned, and the line up I saw back then was awesome. We are all old guys now. Cheers Terry, and oh yeah there are a lot of trees and open spaces in Canada😆 Oh yeah almost forgot, I have never had anyone throw anything at me but they could have....that was the point. A few words were thrown from time to time nothing worse.
