I think it would be healthier if the first knot and the last knot are double wrapped and tied with Japanese glue at the end. You did a very good job with your hands.
If you don't sew the shoe or boot, whatever it is, it will come loose because the glue is rubbish, just adding glue doesn't work, you have to sew the shoe.
I looked for "Blake stitch by hand". This is the only video that shows how it's done. The method you used to make the groove is genius! Thanks for sharing the knowledge
Great video as I've been wanting to try this myself but couldn't find a video before yours that didn't use a machine for Blake stitching. You've been a real help.
He's probably using neoprene glue . It's a glue that's used for wet suits. In that case you don't need to see the shoes, because you can't pull it apart. Neoprene glue is very expensive. Probably 90 bucks for 6 ounces. I use to use it to put big letters on my car tires when I was a young lad.
@@fredzag2452 Ok that's good. I just was worried that his hard work would be for nothing, if it wasn't waterproof. Never heard of neoprene glue, pretty cool!
It's a general purpose Contact adhesive that u could get in any hardware store, it bond formica, leather, fiberglass, etc to wood, metal or concrete. After the glue get pretty dried, it foam waterproof and this stitching method can last for a long times, unless the shoes can withstand daily wear and tear or else it will still stay intact
@@A13XLaircey u certainly can as long as u had the shoes sewing kit with you to make it easier. In China u can be sure that a lot of ppl with shoes sewing machine to make it quick
I followed your instructions from making a tool with razor blade to cut a groove in the sole and sewing the sole/upper together. my "crocodile mouth" shoes can be used again! thk u
It’s common in india, I got my Nike runners open up a year la later, cobbler stitched them all the way round on both pair, used it for another 2 years.
Bcoz u.s is rich country and almost every one can afford new shoes in poor countries these clobbers are very common in every street every corner u can find them
you kinda skip over the best parts, like what glue, and how does that cool grove tool you made work, and what are the details of that stich? looks like you do good work and great t shirt.
Most common glue is Weldwood Barge contact cement. Renia 315 is a water-based alternative for shoemaking. Lockstitchinch with an awl used to attach sole to upper. You pass thread threw the eyelet of the awl, you push the thread threw to the other side of the material and pull half the length of thread through, then you pull the awl back, still with thread on it, and then shove the awl through the next hole. Then you pull back on the awl so the thread bunches just enough so you pass the thread on the top side through that loop, then you pull the awl back out, and thus, you've made a lock stitch. Repeat the process all the way around.
@@isaacagyemang7725 I used half a razor blade like what he did. Near the centre of the blade, use a pair of pliers make a 90 deg bend, move pliers a little back, make another 90 deg bend, move back a little make another 90 deg bend. If I tried to fold the blade in 2 immediately, the blade snapped. Now, I gripped 2 ends of the blade with a pliers and scoop out the groove like in the video. One hand grip the pliers, the other hand push the pliers/blade; I'm pushing the pliers, not the blade. Of course pls be careful. If i'm going to do it often, I'll make a slit in a 1/2" dowel, push the folded blade into it, use hose clamp to secure it.
Hello, wouldn’t it be better to glue with polyurethane glue type windshield glue or sikaflex pro? Unlike the neoprene glue this would ensure more water tightness? Thank you for the video this is excellent. Regards, jean
Lol idk what the tool is called but he definitely made his diy style with piece of pipe, a hose clamp and a razor blade that he cut with scissors that was the wildest thing I’ve ever seen
@@daltonking625 I just can't see in the video, if cut razor blade edges go between the wood handle and the hose clamp or there is somehting else there in the middle that helps to hold it. Also hose clamps usually do not have a handle like in his tool, so he made it too or found the one that fits. It would be great to have a video of how to make that tool.

I've done something now.. I sew my running shoes using nylon but I didn't use solvents or any glues or rugby but it is still strong hehe
Really great work! Thanks for sharing this idea.
This makes me think about the shoemakers I saw on the side walk of the street years ago. It's heartwarming.

That's really wonderful, but it needs to be waterproofed.
Otherwise, it'll end up falling apart again, plus the shoes can get wet inside.

All shoes will break and wear out eventually, plus stitching your shoes is better than just gluing it.
