King of Rims , old stomping ground since 2015 or so back when i used to be in KL. Alot of ups and downs with them until i kinda know all their workers and sops from top to bottom as ive been frequenting them up until as recent as last year even though im no longer based in the Klang valley. - their tyre prices very competitive prices in the market. I think Only Oscar Tyre comes close . HOWEVER they make their money in a different way ( when i was in my 20s and younger i fell for it la like a noob because i was green and didnt know much about this in the tyre shop car industry ). When u get tyres from them they will tell you do to balancing and allignment . Usually sometimes balancing is given free if you purchase 4 tyres but alligment must pay. During allignment , that is where they hantam you, their sifu ( chinese local who does allignment ) will come n say ur chamber bolt cannot use or detoriated or wrong spec ( even if ori ) and will ask you to buy both of theirs to change. Prices also they hantam kau kau, usually normal people will just agree. - Also for green users or noobs , they will usually tell you your rims are damaged and must repair , that time while repairing they will try to tell you one shot paint change color or to touch up. - I did my rim repair and paint with them also back then. Their foreign workers will hard sell u and cut a deal with you behind to under cut the boss by paying them cash at the back instead . This was very common practice back then as there are lack of supervisors around and its a huge place. Once u give in to that then always whenever u go , they will bring lock nut set out and start telling u to buy from behind their bosses etc. I reported this incident to Jeff's younger brother back then because it was getting annoying to deal with . Despite all of that , i still changed my Micheline with them but this time i insisted to reject everything including alignment and all the rim stories etc, some of them laughed because they know me by now already as i recognize some of the workers who have been there since i first used to frequent them. The last trick they tried pulling on me ( in my last visit ) was they brought out 2022 tyres and put on my rims, i already asked them for 2023 tyres beforehand, so during balancing i checked and told them " deyyyyy baiyaaaa , ini kasi tukar kalau tidak u simpan balik pasang balik saya lama punya taya " ... they smiled and changed on the spot .. SO just keep an eye out for these things la, dont just sit in the air cond room or the chairs outside.. Be al ittle pro active and watch . I usually will camp around the balancing tyres area and watch them do their work while making small chit chat here and there to gauge about the on goings of events there. Overall , its an alright place if you have someone seasoned enough to guide you through it , but dont send a green person ( someone without knowledge of vehicles maintenance there ) , con lan firm kena makan left , right center.
Cos selling tyres alone can't make much money. And I don't think upselling is scam la .. just proactively promote more products nothing wrong with that
